Abstract:Silver catalysis has become an important field in organic synthesis. Generally, the silver-catalyzed reactions reported to date were related to sp2 or sp carbon centers. Herein, silver-catalyzed coupling of two Csp3H groups to form 1,4-diketones has been developed for the first time. The resultant ketones then undergo cyclization to synthesize tetrasubstituted furans, thiophenes, and pyrroles from benzyl ketone derivatives in a one-pot reaction process. Abstract:A novel silver-mediated highly selective oxidative C-H/C-H functionalization of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with terminal alkynes for the creation of polysubstituted furans and pyrroles in one step has been demonstrated. Promoted by the crucial silver species, perfect selectivity and good to excellent yields could be achieved. This protocol represents an extremely simple and atom-economic way to construct polysubstituted furans and pyrroles from basic starting materials under mild conditions.

Abstract:A silver-catalyzed dehydrogenative cross-coupling reaction of substituted furans, thiophene, thioazole, and pyrrole 1a-e with dialkyl phosphites 2 was first developed to afford corresponding phosphonated products 3a-h with up to 89% yield and good regioselectivities. Moreover, an unprecedented coupling of various substituted pyridines 1f-k with dialkyl phosphites 2 using AgNO3 as a catalyst and K2S2O8 as an oxidant, followed by reduction with Na2S2O3, was also realized to furnish desired pyridine phosphonates 3i-q in satisfactory yields with good regioselectivities.

Abstract:The copper(II)-promoted C-C bond formation from the coupling of two C(sp(3))-H bonds that are adjacent to a carbonyl group was achieved. This protocol offers a simple and efficient approach to 2,3-disubstituted 1,4-diketones and tetrasubstituted furans. This method features a wide substrate scope and high functional group tolerance.
