Abstract:Near-field communication (NFC) technology emerges as a vital role with appealing benefits for users to improve mobile device’s functionality. Although today’s most smartphones and smartwatches come with NFC support, other mobile devices (e.g., PC and laptops) and IoT devices that don’t equip with dedicated radio modules cannot take advantage of wide-scale NFC capability. We design and develop MagneComm+ , an NFC-like implementation scheme without dedicated hardware and propose a novel near-field communication protocol that is applicable to almost all mobile devices and IoT devices. The key idea is to utilize the electromagnetic induction (EMI) signal emitted from the computing devices (e.g., CPUs) and captured by magnetometers on mobile devices for communication. We tackle challenges in data encoding/decoding , preamble detection , retransmission and error correction , multi-transmitter , and full-duplex schemes, to efficiently generate and reliably receive EMI signal with the hardware available on devices. We prototype MagneComm+ on both between laptops and smartphones, as well as between two laptops with an external magnetometer. Extensive evaluation results show that our MagneComm+ supports around $10~cm$10cm communication distance with average 110 bps (bit per second) data rate on the normal-speed mode, and maximum 17.28 kbps on the full-speed mode.

Abstract:Near-field communication (NFC) plays a crucial role in the operation of mobile devices to enhance applications such as payment, social networks, private communication, gaming, and etc. Despite of the convenience, existing NFC standards like ISO-13157 require additional hardware (e.g., loop antenna and dedicated chip) and thereby hindering their wide-scale applications. In this work, we seek to propose a novel near-field communication protocol, MagneComm, which utilizes Magnetic Induction (MI) signals emitted from CPUs and captured by magnetometers on mobile devices for communication. Since CPUs and magnetometers are readily available components in mobile devices, MagneComm eliminates the requirement for special hardware and complements existing near-field communication protocols by providing additional bandwidth. We systematically analyze the characteristics of magnetic signals of CPUs and facilitate MagneComm with one-way communication, full-duplex communication, and multi-transmitter schemes in accordance with the hardware availability on devices. We prototype MagneComm on both laptops and smartphones. Extensive evaluation results show that MagneComm achieves up to 110bps within 10cm.

Abstract:This paper presents a novel micro electromagnetic relay based on MEMS technology. The micro relay includes some characteristics such as small volume, rapid response and longevity, moreover, it takes performances between the common electromagnetic relay and the solid-state one. The author proposes a few special researches found on this kind of relay in this paper. At first the working theory and the design concerned with the micro relay are explained in brief. Then the fabrication process of the relay is expatiated in detail. At last we have a simulation analysis for the relay by using ANSYS, and provide some beneficial properties with the simulation results.

Abstract:In this paper,with the magnetic field characteristic by electrified planar spiral coil applied,double coils' mirror layout and its' parallel connection is smartly introduced in this device.A fast and low power consuming double stability micro relay is proposed with its working theory and micro aching technology.The relay switched from 0.1ms to 0.2ms when control current ranges between 80mA and 120mA.It exhibits the outstanding performance,such as small、fast switching、low power consuming、easy integration and array,which is mostly suitable in Mircosatllite and ATE.

Through only one digital out port of servo controller, and with the help of one magnetic-latching relay and another relay, one ordinary direct current motor can be started, reversed, and stopped; consequently, the direct current motor’s control is effectively integrated with the wall-climbing robot’s integration control based on servo controller.

Abstract:The magnetic release is a core component of a voltage-independent residual current device (RCD). Due to the sensitivity of magnetic release, it is easy to be interfered with by an external magnetic field. A new magnetic release design with high anti-interference capability is proposed in this work. First, the impact of the interference magnetic field on the magnetic release is analyzed. Second, the proposed magnetic release is detailed illustrated, including the structure and parameter design. Finally, several main factors influencing the anti-interference ability of magnetic release are analyzed, including the right torque arm and right contact area. Both simulation and experimental tests are carried out to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed magnetic release.

Abstract:The subcutaneous implant, which can realize on-demand drug release, is used for the treatments of some chronic diseases such as chronic pain, diabetes, and osteoporosis. This paper proposes a new type of wireless actuator for potential use in active implantable drug delivery systems. The proposed structure suits both wireless power well, which requires far-field flux traveling and receiving, and actuator design, which should take advantage of strong local magnetic fields. The mover in the actuator generates mechanical movement when power is transferred wirelessly to the actuator, and the mover restores to its original position when the wireless power stops. The maximum oscillation amplitude of the mover can be achieved when the ON and OFF frequency of the wireless power transfer is equal to the mechanical resonant frequency of the mover. Experimental results on a prototype actuator with 20 mm in diameter and 10.3 mm in thickness are given for validating the proposed new idea.

Abstract:This paper introduces an innovative Magnetic Switch (MFS) designed to control and alter magnetic flux within energy system components, offering an alternative to conventional power electronic devices. The MFS comprises a low-current control coil, a control core, and a high-density magnetic flux-carrying main core combined with a main coil energy system. In this novel magnetic configuration, when a low-power current excites the control coil, the magnetic flux in the main core (supplied by the main coil) decreases to nearly zero. Conversely, when the control coil disconnects from the power source, the magnetic flux within the main core attains its maximum value. This operation positions the MFS as a groundbreaking concept within magnetic-based energy systems, akin to transistors in power electronics. The main outcomes of the MFS concept are that it can vary the magnetic flux of the main core in the large range, and it is a fast magnetic switch with a simple and low power loss control circuit and an independent control coil from the main coil. Analytical studies thoroughly elucidate the performance and advantages of this proposed magnetic switch, substantiated by Finite Element Method simulations and experimental prototype outcomes.

Abstract:Parallel programming circuit for a magnetic logic device, the flip-flop MFF across the electrodes of the magnetic cross two magnetic tunnel junctions connected to M1 and M2, two intersecting passage way connected to a switch S5; while the upper and lower ends of the MTJ a switch connected in series, respectively, by controlling the four switches S1, S2, S3, S4 for controlling the opening and closing direction of the programming current flowing through the MTJ. In the present invention, since the two magnetic tunnel junctions in the MTJ magnetic flop MFF in parallel relationship, so that they exhibit total resistance equivalent is relatively small, thereby enabling the transistor connected in series therewith share a higher voltage, there which facilitates transistor enters the saturation region, thus providing a large write current, increases reliability of the writing.

Abstract:The magnetic properties of soft magnetic materials, including their saturation magnetic induction strength and permeability, significantly affect the dynamic characteristics of electromagnetic relays. However, the soft materials most commonly used for relays in the magnetic conductive components of electromagnetic systems, such as electrical pure iron, limit further relay design improvement and optimization to a certain extent. Thus, this paper proposes the use of amorphous and nanocrystalline soft magnetic materials with good high-frequency magnetic properties in magnetic circuits. A wavelet analysis was conducted on the high-frequency components of the coil current while the relay operated, and the corresponding magnetic materials were selected. Considering the challenges in processing amorphous and nanocrystalline materials and collecting test data for the accuracy verification of simulation methods, we prepared a scaled-up prototype for use in dynamic characteristic tests. The simulation method was improved, yielding more accurate simulation results regarding the relay's dynamic characteristics. On this basis, six replacement schemes using amorphous and nanocrystalline materials were considered. The test results proved that this application could improve the relay's dynamic characteristics. Finally, a full-size sample with an iron core consisting of nanocrystalline alloy 1K107B was prepared, and the conclusions were verified in tests.

Abstract:Abstract Magnetic field sensors are an integral part of many industrial and biomedical applications, and their utilization continues to grow at a high rate. The development is driven both by new use cases and demand like internet of things as well as by new technologies and capabilities like flexible and stretchable devices. Magnetic field sensors exploit different physical principles for their operation, resulting in different specifications with respect to sensitivity, linearity, field range, power consumption, costs etc. In this review, we will focus on solid state magnetic field sensors that enable miniaturization and are suitable for integrated approaches to satisfy the needs of growing application areas like biosensors, ubiquitous sensor networks, wearables, smart things etc. Such applications require a high sensitivity, low power consumption, flexible substrates and miniaturization. Hence, the sensor types covered in this review are Hall Effect, Giant Magnetoresistance, Tunnel Magnetoresistance, Anisotropic Magnetoresistance and Giant Magnetoimpedance.

Abstract:Nowadays, wiring connections are slowly fade out and replace with wireless connection due to the inconvenient of installing wiring connection in the wall or exposes to outside. Lately, the demand of wireless charging mobile phone or even charging by wireless in the car is attracted attention and the statistic shows that it is increasing rapidly. These paper proposed by using planar type spiral coil structure method to transfer the electrical signal energy to receiver part so as to act as wireless charging. It represented by 2 parallel FR4 printed circuit board that with the layout of planar spiral coil mutually coupled together in the free space. Analysis of electromagnetic transfer between both spiral coil and the resonant frequency was compute by coupled inductance theory. Simulations by using Advanced Design Systems based on coupling theory shows that when the air gap distance is changing, it will affecting the electromagnetic coupling efficiency of the wireless electromagnetic charging.

Abstract:Magnetic control systems of micro-robots have recently blossomed as one of the most thrilling areas in the field of medical treatment. For the sake of learning how to apply relevant technologies in medical services, we systematically review pioneering works published in the past and divide magnetic control systems into three categories: stationary electromagnet control systems, permanent magnet control systems and mobile electromagnet control systems. Based on this, we ulteriorly analyze and illustrate their respective strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, aiming at surmounting the instability of magnetic control system, we utilize SolidWorks2020 software to partially modify the SAMM system to make its final overall thickness attain 111 mm, which is capable to control and observe the motion of the micro-robot under the microscope system in an even better fashion. Ultimately, we emphasize the challenges and open problems that urgently need to be settled, and summarize the direction of development in this field, which plays a momentous role in the wide and safe application of magnetic control systems of micro-robots in clinic.

Abstract:Electromagnetic systems have been used extensively for the control of magnetically actuated objects, such as in microrheology and micro- robotics research. Therefore, optimizing the design of such systems is highly desirable. Some of the features that are lacking in most cur- rent designs are compactness, portability, and versatility. Portability is especially relevant for biomedical applications in which in vivo or in vitro testing may be conducted in locations away from the laboratory microscope. This document describes the design, fabrication, and imple- mentation of a compact, low-cost, versatile, and user-friendly device (the ModMag) capable of controlling multiple electromagnetic setups, includ- ing a two-dimensional 4-coil configuration, a 3-dimensional Helmholtz configuration, a 2-dimensional magnetic tweezer configuration, and a piezoelectric transducer for producing acoustic waves. All electronics for powering the systems are contained in a compact 10″x6"x3" case, which includes a 10″ touchscreen. A graphical user interface provides additional ease of use. The system can also be controlled remotely, allowing for more flexibility and the ability to interface with other software running on the remote computer such as proprietary camera software. Aside from the software and circuitry, we also describe the design of the electromagnetic coil setups and provide examples of the use of the ModMag in experiments.•Low cost and portable magnetic micro-robot manipulation device•Compatible with the 3 most common coil configurations (traditional, Helmholtz, tweezer).

Abstract:Magnetic nerve stimulators activate nervous systems by inducing electric fields inside the tissue. It has proved to be an effective noninvasive technique that can be used to excite peripheral and central nervous systems. In this technique, the excitement of the neural tissue depends on exposing the body to a transient magnetic field. This field can be generated through passing a high pulse of current through a coil over in a short period of time. The general guidelines for designing and constructing a Function Magnetic Stimulator (FMS) were described. RLC model that produces the impulses in FMS was presented. Some factors that influence induced magnetic field were discussed. Experiments were carried through with self-developed round coil and 8-shaped, and Tesla meter was used to detect the magnetic fields. The experimental data show that the distribution of the induced magnetic fields by the two coils is tailored to those of theoretical calculation adopted now.
