Abstract:With the increasing demand of users for the acoustical comfort of commercial vehicles, the sound quality has become one of the important indicators of comfort evaluation. The research focuses on the objective evaluation method of the subjective perception of the sound quality in commercial vehicle. The interior noises of commercial vehicle with an inline six diesel engine are measured. The five psychoacoustic parameters (loudness, roughness, sharpness, fluctuation strength, tonality and articulation index) are applied to the evaluation and analysis of the interior noises of the commercial vehicle. Using psychoacoustic parameters to evaluate the noises in commercial vehicle, it is of great significance for the analysis and control of the noises in commercial vehicle. The research results provide a theoretical basis for guiding the sound quality design and development of commercial vehicles.

Abstract:The interior noise samples in the assistant driver ear's position from four types of cars at different gears and velocities were selected as the evaluation objects. The subjective evaluation test of sound quality was carried out with the magnitude estimation and the paired comparison. Several primary objective psycho acoustical parameters of these samples were calculated. By way of linear correlation and the multi dimensional regression analysis, an equation between the subjective evaluation level and the objective psycho acoustical parameters was gained. The research results indicate that the vehicle interior sound quality preference under the steady operation conditions is affected by two psycho acoustical parameters: loudness and sharpness.
The Analysis of Noise Frequency Characters of Facilities in Urban Residential Area

Abstract:On the basis of investigating the influence of noise pollution in Hangzhou City, the typical noise sources from associated facilities in residential area were selected for analysis; choicing 12 typical noise sources such as noises from electricity supply systems, underground parking, elevator equipments, heat supply systems, water discharge and supply systems, air condition equipments and ventilation system, adopting VS302USB double passage actual analyzer, the numeral sound signal of above facilities at normal operation state was investigated and recorded. Furthermore, the spectrum of these noise sources and the energy ratio of the low, middle and high frequency bands were analyzed through sound signal treatment. The maximum sound pressure degree of each sound source was located the most in low-frequency bands (9 in 12 typical noise sources) and the most energy distribution was also the most in low-frequency bands (7 in 12 typical noise sources). So the low-frequency noise were the most noise sources in the resident area.

Abstract:Transfer path analysis is an important tool to analyze vehicle’s interior noise.Operational transfer path analysis is an improvement of the traditional transfer analysis method.At first,the model for operational transfer path analysis of vehicle’s interior noise was built and the algorithm of matrix transfer method was discussed.Then,the method was applied to a passenger car to analyze the operational transfer path of the interior noise.Finally,contribution of each noise source was analyzed.This work provides a significant support for vehicle’s interior noise control.

Abstract:Heavy truck tires are one of the main sources of road traffic noise. However, the mechanism and propagation of the noise generated by these tires have not been systematically investigated. To determine the noise of heavy truck tires with different structures and patterns, and to analyze the correlation between the indoor tire noise and coast-by tire noise, an integrated tire indoor noise test and a coast-by noise test were designed and successfully implemented. The indoor test was conducted on a drum inside a semi-anechoic chamber to simultaneously measure the near field and far field noise of the tires. The outdoor measurements were carried out using a coast-by test on the new ISO 10844 surface. A formula for quantitative analysis with appropriate corrections was developed to analyze the data with reasonable errors, which can be used to predict the coast-by noise through the indoor tire noise test accurately and effectively. The analysis shows that when trying to build the relationship between indoor and outdoor heavy truck tire noise, care should be taken to differentiate the tires with a load capacity index in excess of 121 and without any dual fitting indication from ordinary tires, due to the specified test procedure.

Abstract:The interior low frequency booming noise of vehicles can seriously deteriorate ride comfort. In this paper, the booming noise of a non-load type body SUV at 1700 r/min engine rotation rate in acceleration condition was studied. Through the order analysis, torsional vibration analysis of the powertrain, transfer function analysis and cavity modes analysis, it was found that the interior booming noise is caused by the torque fluctuation of order 2 from the engine. The torsional fluctuation is transmitted through the rear axle to the inside of the vehicle and amplified. Then, it is coupled with the cavity modes so that the loud booming noise occurs. By installing an additive torsional vibration damper, the torsional vibration was efficiently reduced. The test result shows that the vehicle interior booming noise is reduced by 7.5 dB(A), which is acceptable for subjective evaluation. This work provides a reference for seeking and solving the low-frequency booming noise problems.

Abstract:In order to reduce the noise of the rear seats,subjective evaluation and pilot testing and analysis are taken to identify the noise source.The result shows that the noise source of rear seats results from the radiating noise of rear wheel chamber vibration.So a series of measures such as the hang optimization,the structural optimization of wheel chamber and isolating the spreading approach of the noise source are taken to reduce noise,and the marked effect is gained.

Abstract:Noise can be viewed as an undesirable component of a signal that can affect the quality of perception or transmission of information in a system. In different contexts, the term «noise» may have different meanings, but a common feature is the random impulsive nature of this phenomenon. Automotive noise is sound energy generated by the movement of a vehicle and its components. The study of road traffic noise is an important area, especially in environments where noise can have a significant impact. This includes analyzing noise levels, identifying noise sources, assessing its impact on the environment, and developing strategies to reduce noise. This study analyzes the causes of automobile noise and their noise sources, and provides classification features. The research methodology included measuring the noise level at different points of the bus interior using a specialized acoustic sound level meter Testo 816. The Sound Meter program was additionally used to obtain current time values of noise level changes with graphical data interpretation. When the bus is idling, a monotonous noise load level in the range of 58-63 dB is observed in the cabin, which is typical for a running diesel engine, which is the main source of noise. The movement of the bus in urban conditions is accompanied by a change in traffic conditions, which in turn increases the maximum noise load to 73 dB. The movement of the bus in the city is accompanied by an increase in the noise load up to 74 dB and the equivalent up to 67 dB. This is due to an increase in speed, contact of tires with the asphalt road, interaction of the air environment with bus elements, the appearance of vibrations and other noises.Although the noise load in the bus interior is within the upper permissible limits, it requires the introduction of noise reduction measures, especially for long-distance buses for a comfortable ride for passengers. Therefore, it is important to take noise levels into account when designing and operating vehicles, as well as when planning urban infrastructure projects.

Abstract:In this paper, various numerical calculation methods are rigorously combined to model and analyze the acoustic characteristics of a heavy truck cab. Firstly a brief introduction of different numerical calculation methods is given, then the finite element structure model and cavity model of the cab are built. The statistical energy analysis models of the cab, including structural subsystems and cavity subsystems, are also built and used in the high-frequency range. The panel acoustic contribution analysis and the energy transfer path contribution analysis are carried out to find the panels which contribute most to the sound pressure inside the cab. Based on the analysis results, structure modification of these panels has been proposed with acoustics topology optimized. The optimization result shows that the sound pressure level on the side of the driver’s right ear can be reduced by a few decibels. Necessary tests to validate the models are also administered.

Abstract:Abstract By analyzing the road noise problem of a car model, it is confirmed that the car exists in the car when driving at uniform speed on rough road surface. The front and rear row road noise problem. Based on the existing vehicle CAE model, the TPA analysis of the vehicle model was carried out by using MSC NASTRAN software to obtain the contribution of each transfer path to road noise, and the main path influencing the road noise was locked. The key factors on the main path are further identified through acceleration response analysis of key positions in the transfer path. Through vehicle test and ODS simulation analysis, the main vibration modes of the components that affect the road noise are determined. Combined with CAE and test methods, a reasonable chassis optimization scheme was developed to improve the road noise performance of the vehicle.

Abstract:Vehicles often accelerate or decelerate when running because of road condition, automotive flow density and traffic signals and so on, so vehicle vibration and interior noise become unstable. In order to study on how to actively control interior noise in vehicle at unstable conditions, the adaptive active noise control (AANC) system was developed in this paper. According to the close correlation between dominant noise components and vibrating acceleration signals of engine-body, auto-body suspension, the interior noise signals were predicted from neural network by means of these vibrating acceleration signals. Then the forecasted. noise signals after being delayed adaptively filtered, phase-reversed and amplified were used as outputs of the secondary sound sources-loudspeakers to cancel low-frequency unstable noise in vehicle. For the purpose of following the changes of noise at real time, F-XLMS was selected as key adaptive control algorithm, with it the system can satisfy the requirements for the convergence and stability. Based on the ANNC system the unstable noise cancellation experiments were carried out in a given minibus. The experimental results' indicate that the AANC system is of the better stability and satisfactory convergence speed, and the sound pressure level in an automotive cabin can be reduced by about 8dB(Lin) whether the minibus accelerates or decelerates. At last the interior unstable noise signals from the experiments were analyzed in time and frequency domain with the wavelet analytic method, and the spectral characters of the unstable noise when an automobile changing its speed were showed.

Abstract:Based on the principle of bearing similar modes with vehicle,the simplified FE model of a heavy commercial vehicle cab is built.A structure-acoustic coupling model of the cab is built with the FE model,and it is validated with an acoustic modal test.The excitation signals at cab mounting and the respond signals of interior noise and vibration are measured under idling condition and even-speed driving condition with road testing.Appling the excitation signals to the structure-acoustic coupling model,the frequency response analysis is carried out and the interior structure noise between 20 Hz and 200 Hz is calculated.The simulated response of vibration and noise is compared with the result of testing.It is shown that the frequency spectrum of simulated response can express the effect of excitation spectrum and acoustic modes,and it coincides with the testing result.It can reach high accuracy to predict the level of interior noise and vibration with the structure-acoustic coupling model.To predict the level of interior noise and vibration by using this model can reach high precision.

Abstract:Dimensionality and expressions in Chinese of auditory attributes for vehicle noise are investigated.First, three questionnaire surveys are accomplished to obtain a number of auditory descriptors in Chinese,and then based on Paired Comparison and Semantic Differential approaches,two subjective jury tests are accomplished to obtain a similarity matrix and ranked descriptors.Finally,by use of Multidimensional Scaling and Principal Component Analysis,auditory attributes for equal-loudness vehicle noise are determined and then is expressed in terms of three Chinese adjectives corresponding to"roughness","sharpness"and"fluctuation".

Abstract:Taking the respective advantage of sound intensity and sound holography methods,the sources of exterior noise of a heavy-duty truck are comprehensively identified,with the main noise sources and noise frequency ranges obtained.Then various noise control schemes are analyzed,among which the use of optimized sound absorption and insulation structure can reduce the noise by more than 2.5 dB(A)with the adverse effects on the performances of the engine and other systems of the truck within the permitted range and the cost of noise control less than 0.4% of the total cost of the truck.

Abstract:This study developed a multi-classification model for vehicle interior noise from the subway system, collected on smartphones. The proposed model has the potential to be used to analyze the causes of abnormal noise using statistical methods and evaluate the effect of rail maintenance work. To this end, first, we developed a multi-source data (audio, acceleration, and angle rate) collection framework via smartphone built-in sensors. Then, considering the Shannon entropy, a 1-second window was selected to segment the time-series signals. This study extracted 45 features from the time- and frequency-domains to establish the classifier. Next, we investigated the effects of balancing the training dataset with the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE). By comparing and analyzing the classification results of importance-based and mutual information-based feature selection methods, the study employed a feature set consisting of the top 10 features by importance score. Comparisons with other classifiers indicated that the proposed XGBoost-based classifier runs fast while maintaining good accuracy. Finally, case studies were provided to extend the applications of this classifier to the analysis of abnormal vehicle interior noise events and evaluate the effects of rail grinding.

Abstract:An application of measurement method of sound intensity is discussed from practical engineering perspective based on experimental analysis to identify the main noise source of vehicle. The 3D sound intensity charts are plotted to find the main noise source which adversely affects interior noise of a specific vehicle at idle condition. Meanwhile, the relevant components are optimized and improved in combination with frequency spectrum analysis to reduce interior noise and improve vehicle NVH performance. The test results indicate that the technology of source intensity measurement and frequency spectrum analysis can be applied to identify the main noise source quickly, and the improvement method is presented accordingly.

Abstract:Based on the analysis on the transmission paths of interior vibration and noise, vehicles with new tires, moderately worn tires and completely worn tires are driven by chassis dynamometer in anechoic chamber. The vibration signals at the center point of the roof and the noise signals at driver head position under three operation conditions (cruises at constant speeds of 60 km/h and 120 km/h and coasting with the speed falling from 140 km/h to 20 km/h) are measured. The results reveal the law of the effects of the different extents of tire wear on the interior vibration and noise of vehicle under different driving conditions.

Abstract:Based on the self-developed test platform for evaluation of pass-by noise of commercial vehicle tire,the pass-by noise of a number of commercial vehicle tires with different patterns and sizes were tested on the ISO 10844 road.The dependence of tire noise on the driving velocity and temperature was investigated and analyzed based on the classification of tread patterns.The velocity-noise and temperature-noise calculation formulas were then obtained based on the theoretic analysis and experimental testing results and their applications in different tires were proposed.The results of this study were very important to clarify the noise mechanism of commercial vehicle tire,control the noise of commercial vehicle tire and optimize the pattern design.
