Abstract:A design method of an off-line switching power-supply controller with properties of high-efficiency and low-power is presented to improve performances of off-line power supplies. The controller was designed on basis of pulse-width modulation (PWM) mode and pulse skipping modulation (PSM) mode. The design method of the controller loop is based on the peak current mode. The controller operates in PWM mode, when the feedback voltage is less than 4.75 V, and works in PSM mode otherwise, ensuring high efficiency. Additional functions, such as short-circuit protection, over-voltage protection, under-voltage lockout, internal slope compensation, leading-edge blanking on current sense are included. For reducing the electromagnetic interference (EMI), the switching frequency is designed to be randomized within the range of 1 kHz at around centre frequency to flatten the power spectral density (PSD). The chip was implemented by using TSMC's 0.6 μm 40 V high voltage BCD process. Simulation results indicate that the controller realizes the required working modes and performs seamless switching between the modes. The controller can be applied to Li-Ion battery charger with a wide range of AC input (85~264 V) or power adapter.

Abstract:Nowadays standby control is of great concern in power electronics industry both in domestic and abroad.The standby control mainly focuses on PWM converters while less on the resonant converters.A design of the standby control for the Class-E resonant converter is proposed in low power charger application.With the burst mode control,low-loss aux-iliary power supply and low-loss control ICs,the standby loss is reduced to lower than 0.3 W,which meets the specification demand.And the output voltage ripple is lower than 5% all through 90～265 V AC input.

Abstract:A new method,using AVR single-chip computer to produce SPWM waves and realize feedforward control,was proposed to accomplish full digital control of the inverter power supply.On the bases of analyzing the characteristics of the ATmega8 chip,the specific design of software-hardware structure was given.The results of the simulation and the experiments show that the circuit of the system is simple,the control scheme is reasonable and feasible,and it has wide prospect in the future.

Abstract:This paper presents a novel flyback switching power supply in which a intelligent integrated chip named UC3842 is used.A new usage of UC3842 in flyback switching power supply is provided to perform feedback from output directly.Compared with traditional circuit,it has lower output voltage ripple,lower load adjustment rate and lower input voltage adjustment rate. The experimental results verify the virtue of this method.

Abstract:A kind of quasi-resonant flyback switch power supply circuit based on UCC28600 controller is designed in this paper. The working principle and the realization method of quasi-resonant flyback switch power supply are analyzed. The circuit, design and selection process of parameters and switching waveform are given. Experiments show that quasi-resonant flyback switching power supply has the characteristics of wide input voltage range,high conversion efficiency and low EMI,and works stable and reliable. The quasi-resonant technique reduced the switching loss of MOSFET,and improved product reliability. In ad-dition,the softer switch improved EMI characteristics of power supply,reduced the number of filters and the cost of products.

Abstract:A seamless mode-switch control scheme for primary side regulation flyback with capacitorless self-adaptive startup is presented in this article to increase the system stability for full-load range and reduce the area cost. Instead of traditional soft-startup, a peak current of primary side (PCPS) control scheme without off-chip capacitor is adapted during the startup process and a homologous startup modeling is built. Including the traditional pulsewidth modulation (PWM), the pulse frequency modulation (PFM), and deep pulsewidth modulation (DPWM) are adapted to reduce the standby power at utralight load. Meanwhile, a seamless control scheme is proposed to assure the continuity among the PCPS, PWM, PFM, and DPWM mode switch. The controller chip is fabricated in 0.18 mu m BCD process. The experiment results show that the startup time and overshoot voltage are, respectively, 35 ms and 4 V at 0.8 A load current, 48 ms, and 0.2 V at 0.008 A load current. The accuracy of output voltage is within +/- 0.98% under different input voltages and loads while the peak power efficiency of 88.52% is achieved.
Comparison of Dual Switch Flyback DC/DC Converters based on NCP1207 and UC3844

Abstract:Now the development of the power supply trends to high frequency,high efficiency and high definition.The circuit structure,operation principle and performance of dual switch flyback DC/DC converters based on NCP1207 and UC3844 are compared and verified.The result proves that a novel flyback converter using quasi-resonant technology with NCP1207 is developed.When the converter operates in discontinuous conduction mode(DCM),the switch can turn on atquasi-resonant valley by using the resonant between capacitor shunted to drain-source of switch and the leakage inductance of the transformer.The experimental results show that the efficiency of the converter based on NCP1207 can be two or three percents more than the converter based on UCC3844.

Abstract:An auxiliary power supply for operation power module of power system was designed.A topology of dual switches' flyback converter was introduced and the operations principle was anaylazed.The characteristics of peak current control method and the design steps for calculation of the parameters were also presented.As demon prototype,a switching power supply of three-phase input and eight outputs was designed and built.The experimental and long-term-test results show that the topology of dual switches' flyback converter is very suitable for the applications of high-voltage input and multi-outputs.It is proved that the topology not only keeps the excellence of flyback converter,but also improves the converter's performance in high-voltage situation.

Abstract:A single flyback switching power supply is proposed for photovoltaic inverters,which adjusts the duty cycle by UC3842 controller to adapt to the DC input variation and has 9 DC outputs to provide stable voltage for the switching device and control circuit of photovoltaic inverter.The working principle of UC3842,the design of peripheral circuits and high frequency transformer,the common-mode filtering capacitor and π-type filter circuit are described and improved to maintain the output power quality.Prototype tests show that,it provides long-term reliable DC voltage with acceptable ripples and adapts to a wide fluctuation of input DC voltage.

Abstract:Synchronous pulse width modulation (PWM) switching regulator is suitable for high-power applications because of its high conversion efficiency as compared with linear regulator A synchronous PWM chip integrating the control, output adjustment, output monitoring and protection functions of switching regulator is designed for the power supply of high-performance CPUs. This chip is fabricated with 1.7 mum BiCMOS process successfully and a synchronous switching power system is established. The test result shows this system has high efficiency, high precision, fast transient response and small start-up overshoot.

Abstract:This paper proposes a novel self-bias supply scheme for the control circuit in dc-dc converters to improve the efficiency. Compared with existing methods such as auxiliary winding, linear voltage regulator, the proposed method can achieve better efficiency and more stable voltage for the control circuit. An auxiliary switch paralleled with the main switch is used to get the bias voltage for control circuit. This auxiliary switch works in an intermittent mode which can reduce the switching losses. The proposed method is validated on a 64-W flyback converter prototype.

Abstract:To reduce the power consumption of multi-mode switching power supply controller chip in light load and standby conditions and enhance its efficiency over the entire load range,a novel supply system was proposed in this paper. Supplied by it,the chip could realize high efficiency,low power operation in different conditions including start-up,shut-down,heavy load,light load and standby. The system consists of a under voltage lockout (UVLO) module,a power source for digital modules,two voltage regulators for analogue modules,a voltage detection module and a control logic module. By controlling switching on/off some inner blocks according to the load conditions,the chip could keep low power operation. This power system was successfully applied to a multi-mode controller for flyback converter featuring high efficiency and low power consumption at standby. It was designed and fabricated in 1.5 μm BiCMOS technology. Test results showed that all expected performances were successfully achieved.

Abstract:Low power factor and high harmonics are the main drawbacks of traditional AC-DC converters. A two-stage ACDC switching power supply with power function correction (PFC) function was designed to solve this issue. The former stage was power factor corrector based on boost topology with L6561 as the controller. On the latter stage, LTA705S was adopted to design a DC-DC converter based on flyback topology. The design method of the AC-DC converter was introduced in detail. Compared to the traditional one, the converter has the advantages of practicability, simple construction, low cost and small volume. Finally, a 90W prototype was built to verify the feasibility of the design.

Abstract:In this paper,a multiple output flyback converter which uses UC3842 as supply control IC is designed for the small vehicle auxiliary power supply.The technologies of high frequency AC-bus and distributed power source are adopted to solve the problems of multi-channel and separation output,to reduce the turn of transformer winding and to improve the power transmission efficiency.The internal circuit and characteristics are analyzed based on the prototype machine and the results about experimentation.The main process of the flyback transformer in practical design is listed.Consequently,the advantages of this converter at efficiency,volume,cost are presented.

Abstract:Employing the algorithm of our improved direct pulse width modulation(PWM),we carry out the sine-PWM(SPWM) control software based on a C51 microcontroller applied in an uninterruptible power supply(UPS).The problem of reset is solved by using transistor-transistor logic(TTL) gates.This makes the control system generate the signals simply.In the research of dc-ac converter controlled by IR2110 drive chips,the result reveals that the interval between two supplementary SPWM signals can ensure the dead time,and the harmonic waves are very small. The advantage of the present method is to produce the high-frequency SPWM signals.Meanwhile,a part of the controlling circuit is very simple and can be easily developed into a closed-loop feedback system.

Abstract:Key technologies for novel switching power supplies are presented. By combining pulse skip modulation mode with current limit state machine, and introducing fuzzy control theory and chaos theory, characteristics of the novel switching power supply, such as energy transfer efficiency, transient response, load regulation rate and anti-interference, have been greatly improved. Low EM characteristics could be realized utilizing frequency jitter technique. With the rapid advancement of the semiconductor switching power device, novel switching power supplies will become shorter, smaller, lighter, safer and more cost-effective in the future, achieving both high efficiency and high quality.

Abstract:This paper introduces the elements and the design's method of the switchmode power supplies based on DSP. It also expounds how to implement PWM waveform in the switchmode power supplies such as the SPWM waveform generated by the TMS320F2810. Simulation results show that the switchmode power supplies can be steady quickly; its distortion is very little; the load influences the system much less.
