Abstract:To control the excessive vibration in discharging pipe of a plastic plant,the natural frequency of pipeline,the natural frequency of gas columns and transient response in the vibration are calculated by finite element method.By the measuring data of vibration,and the theoretical calculation result,the cause of pipeline vibration is analyzed.A suggestion to overcome the vibration reduction is made,meanwhile,selection and design method of hydraulic damper and tuned mass damper is presented.The result of the measuring data of the modified pipeline shows that the pipeline modification is effective.

Abstract:With the passage of time during pipeline operation, a substantial number of impurities accumulate and adhere to the inner wall of the pipeline. This deposition hinders the pipeline's ability to function correctly, thereby posing significant hidden risks to people's lives and the safety of their property. This article focuses on employing pipeline robots for internal cleaning. It examines the jet cleaning process of the spiral-driven pipeline inspection and cleaning robot, aiming to determine the optimal motion state and cleaning parameters for the device within the pipeline. The findings are verified and analyzed through experiments. It was observed that the cleaning effect is enhanced, with a target surface distance of approximately 12- to 13-times the diameter of the nozzle outlet (around 25 mm). In addition, an incident angle of 15° yields favorable cleaning results, with a maximum shear force exerted on the target surface of approximately 0.11 MPa. Ensuring that the pipelines operate reasonably and stably, thus guaranteeing their safe functioning and preventing significant economic and environmental damage, holds immense value.

Abstract:In the majority of oil fields in our country,during the process of exploitation,the associated gas of oil wells usually contains CO2,H2S and other corrosive gases with different ingredients.At the same time,because the oil and gas gathering and transportation system cannot be completely sealed, O2 and other corrosive gases in the atmosphere can enter the oil and gas production system,resulting in a wide variety of corrosion concerning the oil and gas production systems.On account of the present corrosion situation about oil and gas pipelines,this paper is intended to give a brief overview of the CO2 corrosion,H2S corrosion,oxygen corrosion mechanism with their influential factors,and on this basis it further introduces a negative pole protection technology,a corrosion resistance materials anti-corrosion technology,an engineering anti-corrosion technology,a chemical anti-corrosion technology,as well as several commonly used anti-corrosion measures adopted at home and abroad.

Abstract:Current situation and law of oil and gas field corrosion are reviewed.The Tahe oil field and the Yakela gas field of carbon steel gathering pipelines corrosion main factors are analysed,including chloride,acid gases,flow patterns and so on,obtain that carbon steel pipeline corrosion mainly localized corrosion pitting and erosion-co-rrosion internal corrosion.Combining pipeline conditions and corrosive environment,the preferred corrosion detection technology to determine the detection parts of the line corrosion detection technology combined with the elevation detection is carried out within the last 9-2 stations of the the Yakela gas field gathering pipelines of a single well and the Tahe oil field crude oil transportation pipeline composite applications.The low frequency guided wave,C-scanning and ultrasonic thickness detection were used to detect carbon steel pipelines.The results show that 9-2 station of crude oil transmission pipeline of low-lying point,high point and the local climbing pitting corrosion seriously and Yakela gas corrosion primarily for erosion-corrosion and pitting corrosion.
Pressure test method of safety assessment on existed submarine pipeline

Abstract:Submarine pipeline has become a major transportation pattern of oil and gas, as well known, the petroleum is corrosive and harmful to the steel wall of the pipeline. The existed pipelines should be checked after several years in service, so that the remaining service life time can be estimated and the decision of re-using can be made. Several normal test methods are all expensive; some of them are inconvenient and need to stop the service transportation. So a new convenient method, based on on-spot pressure test, is developed to check the pipeline safety without interrupting the service. In this method, first of all, the corrosion state of the pipeline is estimated on the base of corrosion test. Then mechanical analysis is performed to determine the corresponding test pressure of all corrosion state cases. Then the on-spot pressure test is performed, and the test result is a powerful indication of the safety state of pipeline. An Equivalent Reliability Method (ERM) is used to determine corresponding service pressure, which is believed to be safe for continuing service. This method has been used in a pipeline safety assessment of CNOOC. The result showed that the new attempt is pretty reliable, economic and convenient.

Abstract:After pipeline construction burst china energy pipeline industry commonly faced with aging and abandonment problem. The study on pipeline abandonment was still in preliminary state, because there is nearly no pipeline abandonment standards and guidelines. Pipeline cleaning is the first step to dispose the abandoned pipeline to eliminate the risk of environment and safety. In foreign developed countries there are many chemical cleaning agents. But this chemical cleaning agent is not suitable for residual of chines pipeline because of oil difference between china and foreign country. The most of residual in china have a very high paraffin and resin-asphaltenes content. So preparation of chemical cleaning suitable for china residual is a challenge on the technology of abandonment pipeline. In this paper two kinds of chemical cleaning agent were prepared to clean the different type of residual. They are hydrophilic chemical cleaning agent and oil soluble chemical cleaning agent. The result of cleaning project shows that the both kind of chemical cleaning have good performance for the abandoned pipeline. The chemical cleaning agents will assist pipeline company to totally clean the abandoned pipeline to ensure the public safety and environment protection.

Abstract:Abstract The high-pressure water jet cleaning technology is used in the construction of ship cleaning project. The results show that the high-pressure water jet cleaning technology can effectively eliminate pipeline fouling blockage. After cleaning, there is no residual marine organism or other fouling on the surface of pipeline, and there are no surface defects such as thinning of pipeline wall, scratches and pits caused by cleaning. The high-pressure water cleaning technology is an effective way to clean seawater pipeline.

Abstract:Abstract With the increasing demand for energy, long-distance oil and gas pipeline has become the main mode of transportation of oil and gas resources. High pressure, inflammable and explosive medium, complex and changeable route environment and other factors make the safe transportation of pipeline concerned. The girth welds of oil and gas pipeline have always been the weak part of the pipeline due to the technical level during the construction, on-site welding practices and operation environment, and the girth weld cracking is one of the main failure forms of oil and gas pipeline. It is an effective way to ensure the safety of pipeline to adopt various advanced and targeted inspection to identify pipeline defects, judge the types of defects, and then carry out safety evaluation and maintenance. This paper analyzes the main failure factors of girth weld of oil and gas pipeline, and systematically summarizes the content and methods of various in-line inspection on girth weld in view of these failure factors, so as to provide reference for the development and application of in-line inspection technology on girth weld of oil and gas pipeline.

Abstract:The main reasons for corrosion failure of pipeline in sour gas field have been proposed based on the analysis techniques of Optical Microscopy (OM), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (EDS) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD). The results show that the leakage happened caused by pit corrosion in the test samples. Pit corrosion occurs under the condition of wet H2S corrosion, while fouling and Cl-do promotion. Test pipe material properties meet the conditions requirements of China. According to the condition of pipeline corrosion, it is suggested that the raw gas should process gas-water separation before transportation, and the filter unit should be added to reduce the sand and gravel content.

Abstract:The pipes in the gas fields are mainly oil tubing,casing and drill rod etc.With the development of oil and gas fields,the oil & gas production is facing increasingly adverse conditions,especially the deteriorating tubing corrosion,wax deposition and fouling in the oil well tubing due to the higher carbon dioxide,hydrogen sulfide and elemental sulfur etc in oil & gas fields.The corrosion of oil well pipes is discussed,the main corrosion causes of pipes are analyzed and the associated anti-corrosion technologies are studied.The advantages and disadvantages of different technologies are compared.The trend of future anticorrosion technology development is forecasted.

Abstract:Pipelines play an important role in the national/international transportation of natural gas, petroleum products, and other energy resources. Pipelines are set up in different environments and consequently suffer various damage challenges, such as environmental electrochemical reaction, welding defects, and external force damage, etc. Defects like metal loss, pitting, and cracks destroy the pipeline’s integrity and cause serious safety issues. This should be prevented before it occurs to ensure the safe operation of the pipeline. In recent years, different non-destructive testing (NDT) methods have been developed for in-line pipeline inspection. These are magnetic flux leakage (MFL) testing, ultrasonic testing (UT), electromagnetic acoustic technology (EMAT), eddy current testing (EC). Single modality or different kinds of integrated NDT system named Pipeline Inspection Gauge (PIG) or un-piggable robotic inspection systems have been developed. Moreover, data management in conjunction with historic data for condition-based pipeline maintenance becomes important as well. In this study, various inspection methods in association with non-destructive testing are investigated. The state of the art of PIGs, un-piggable robots, as well as instrumental applications, are systematically compared. Furthermore, data models and management are utilized for defect quantification, classification, failure prediction and maintenance. Finally, the challenges, problems, and development trends of pipeline inspection as well as data management are derived and discussed.

Prospecting and Development of Oil and Gas Fields

Abstract:The article deals with modern technical methods of improving the efficiency of gas pipelines cleaning. The most effective method of improving the efficiency of a gas pipeline is its periodical cleaning with mechanical treating units. In practice, a large number of cleaning pistons of various technological designs are used. Regardless of the design, none of them can completely remove the fluid accumulations. The reason for the decrease in efficiency is the presence of fluid in the cavity of the pipeline. The fluid can be of two types – high-viscosity resinous deposits and low-viscosity liquid deposits. When moving, they perform the role of local resistance. The type of the main gas pipeline purification process is largely determined by the physical properties of the fluid which is being displaced. The authors specify the functional dependence of the velocity distribution in the pipe cross-section while displacing the Newtonian fluid, as well as the value of the initial pressure of the liquid phase on the cleaning piston. The interaction of a purifying device with fluid accumulations having different physical properties is investigated. The authors develop the algorithm of calculating the volume of the flows over a moving boundary into a back-piston space, in relation to their velocity. The dependence of the volume of fluid flows caused by hydraulic shock for Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids is composed. Based on the calculations, the authors plot the graphical dependence of the correction coefficient on the ratio of dynamic viscosity to the degree of consistency, as well as the dependence of the total flow rate on the speed of movement of the cleaning unit. The formula for calculating the correction coefficient is obtained. The article presents the results of calculating the value of the correction coefficient which takes into account the rheological properties of the fluid. In relation to the properties and rheology of the non-Newtonian fluid, the authors determine the optimal velocity of a treating unit.

Abstract:To ensure the safety of water quality, pipe network cleaning and security management are put forward higher requirements. Traditional single-phase water flushing pipe technology requires high velocity and large flow rate of water, which does not suitable for large-diameter pipes. Air and water flushing pipes are new pipeline cleaning technology, which has high efficiency, good washing effect, and can save a lot of water. The principles of airwater flushing large-diameter, large-deviation-elevation, and many- ups-and-downs pipes are described in this paper. Based on the two-phase flow theories, it analyzes complex hydraulic characteristics and control parameters for flushing pipeline. Combine with engineering practice, air and water flushing diameter of 800 mm pipeline in Shanghai city and flushing pipe parameters are introduced. The air and water flushing effect and water resource consumption reduction are analyzed, as well.

Abstract:High-temperature crude corrosion caused by naphthenic acid is one of the major corrosion problems in atmospheric and vacuum equipment pipeline during oil processing.The characteristics of naphthenic acid corrosion of pipeline are introduced briefly and the corrosion mechanism of naphthenic acid corrosion is analyzed.The effect of naphthenic acid corrosion caused by the flow rate and erosion-corrosion is also expounded.The latest results of the research on the effect of the resistance performances of high-temperature naphthenic acid corrosion caused by chemical compositions of materials are reported.The method to prevent the hightemperature naphthenic acid corrosion of pipeline by controlling the flow rate and selecting the appropriate materials is brought forward.Moreover,the improvement of in the materials of atmospheric and vacuum equipment pipeline on oil processing is expounded and the prospect for a further study of naphthenic acid corrosion is also mentioned,so that it can be used as a reference in the field of acidic crude oil corrosion and safety of the equipment pipeline.

Abstract:Abstract When the operation benefit of an oil and gas pipeline is not enough to cover its operation cost, and the pipeline is no alternative use, seriously damaged, aged or the operation risk exceeds the acceptable range, it is bound to cause serious safety and environmental hazards along the pipeline, especially for the over age pipeline in service, therefore its scientific abandonment and reasonable disposal is particularly important and urgent. Focused on the methods for judging abandonment, retirement modes, cleaning and environmental management of oil and gas pipelines, the characteristics of existing methods for predicting the remaining life of the pipelines and their application in abandonment and disposal are compared and analyzed, and the basis and adaptability of oil and gas pipelines retirement are illuminated. According to the actual situation and environment of the discarded pipelines, the selection basis and applicable conditions of the pipeline and facility disposal methods such as demolition, in-situ shelving and their combination are expounded. It is found that North America has rich experience and mature technology in oil and gas pipeline abandonment and disposal, but many countries, including China, seriously lack scientific and systematic evaluation standards, practical experience, related theoretical and technical investigations. This study has important reference and practical significance for promoting the development of abandonment and disposal technology of an aging oil and gas pipeline, and ensuring the personal safety and ecological environmental protection along the abandoned pipeline. This paper presents the status quo of over age service and abandonment decision-making of oil and gas pipelines in the world, draws lessons from the experience of safety and environmental protection disposal of the global abandoned pipelines, and puts forward the principle and method of abandonment judgment and scientific disposal of the aging pipelines based on residual life evaluation. This method has sufficient basis, strong adaptability and wide application.

Abstract:The transportation of oil and gas through pipelines is an integral aspect of the global energy infrastructure. It is crucial to ensure the safety and integrity of these pipelines, and one way to do so is by utilizing an inspection tool called a smart pig. This paper reviews various smart pigs used in steel oil and gas pipelines and classifies them according to pipeline structure, anomaly-detection capability, working principles, and application areas. The advantages and limitations of each sensor technology that can be used with the smart pig for in-line inspection (ILI) are discussed. In this context, ultrasonic testing (UT), electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT), eddy current (EC), magnetic flux leakage (MFL), and mechanical contact (MC) sensors are investigated. This paper also provides a comprehensive analysis of the development chronology of these sensors in the literature. Additionally, combinations of relevant sensor technologies are compared for their accuracy in sizing anomaly depth, length, and width. In addition to their importance in maintaining the safety and reliability of pipelines, the use of ILI can also have environmental benefits. This study aims to further our understanding of the relationship between ILI and the environment.

Abstract:There are many instances where the rapid propagation of cracks is the result of fluid pressure acting on piping structures. This problem is recognized as one of the most important issues of dynamic fracture mechanics. This paper addresses recent developments in this research area, and particularly describes the dynamic fracture mechanism and the applications of analysis methods to the rapid crack propagation RCP for gas pipelines. It also discusses the criteria for crack initiation, propagation and arrest. The pressure profile behind the crack tip, which is the main source of the crack driving force, is computed by combining linear decay approach. For the calculation of crack driving force G, the numerical implement using the nodal force release and the energy balance methods are described. A novel analysis methodology is also presented in this paper to investigate the suitability of crack arrestors.

Abstract:Pipelines have advantages in fluid transportation, which play an important role in the rise of economy and social development. However, fouling in pipelines is an important issue that must be paid attention to by oil, gas, food and many other industries. These related industries need to remove fouling and even replace pipes regularly due to the generation of fouling. If the descaling operation is not timely or improper, it will lead to pipeline deformation, leakage or even burst. Thus, an environmentally friendly descaling methodology is proposed in this paper, which is based on ultrasonic guided waves cavitation effect. Two descaling scenarios, single transducer case and the transducer array one, are studied through the modeling work and compared in the experiments, which show that the ultrasonic guided waves excited by the piezoelectric transducers can remove fouling effectively and descaling effect of the latter case is cleaner than the former one. The average descaling rates of two descaling system are up to 82.49% and 94.61% respectively.
