Abstract:After studied the flotation theory and the shortcoming of the existing flotation column,a new ring-like type flotation column is put forwarded.Test results show that in the same experimental conditions,the new ring-like type flotation column has superiority in recovery and concentrate grade compare to the XFD flotation machine.

The study showed that the ring inflatable flotation machine has the advantages of low energy and consumption, little abrasion, the probability of attachment and collision is high of particles and bubbles, selection and sweep the election time and frequency adjustment flexibility and large size range of separation. In this paper, the structure diagram of the ring inflatable flotation machine, and do the conditions experiment. Compared the separation efficiency and sorting index with traditional XFD-type flotation machine. Experiment showed that the ring inflatable is economic, effective and high sorting index.

Abstract:Column flotation is a new de-inking device used in fiber recycling while it has been used in mineral flotation from 1880's. The object of this paper is to discuss the de-inking feasibility of a set of experimental flotation columns with the help of a self-built flotation control system. Some basic works about the running capability of this system, for example, the factors which affect the gas holdup of column and the bubble diameters were researched and estimated. Then further study based on the above experiments was done about the de-inking results under different pulp flow and air flow. At ast, contrastive experiments between column flotation and cell flotation under the almost same operation conditions J were done. This paper showed that gas flow played the most important factor on the gas holdup of column and better de-inking result could be achieved by column flotation than normal cell.

Physicochemical Problems of Mineral Processing

Abstract:In recent years, with the deepening of the degree of coal mining and the improvement of the mechanization and intelligent level of coal dressing, the proportion of fine and micro-fine coal production has been increasing. Micro-fine grade separation has gradually become an important research direction in coal washing industry. This paper is based on a novel jet-stirring synergistic column flotation method, which integrates jet-impact mixing, impeller mixing, and dispersion into the structure of a column flotation tank. By combining with existing research foundations, we construct a corresponding physical model and conduct optimization studies on key parameters related to jetting, impeller mixing, and mechanism. The resulting fundamental theory provides clear insights for the engineering application of this innovative flotation technology. The effects of jet-stirring synergy on bubble adsorption and reagent adsorption were studied, and the flotation effect of the new flotation technology was experimentally verified, laying a theoretical foundation for the industrial application of the device.

Abstract:Flotation machines and flotation columns are widely used as separation equipment for coal sludge. In order to obtain better flotation results for different particle sizes, the bubble distribution and size in the flow field need to be studied. In this paper, a novel three-phase fluidized bed flotation column (TFC) was designed, and the shear effect of liquid velocity (0.198 m/s, 0.226 m/s, and 0.254 m/s) and static bed height (0.1 m, 0.2 m, and 0.3 m) on the bubbles in the mineralized flow field region was investigated and evaluated for the formation of bubbles by shear in laboratory and semi-industrial experiments. The results show that the increase in filling bed height has a very obvious strengthening effect on the reduction of bubble diameter, and after the filling bed height reaches a certain value, the filling bed height will weaken the effect of apparent gas velocity on bubble diameter. The apparent gas velocity has different influencing effects on bubble diameter, and under conditions of low water velocity, the increase in the apparent gas velocity contributes to the reduction of bubble diameter. The conclusions of this study are expected to optimize the operating parameters of the flotation mineralization process and enrich the study of TFC, which can provide a reference for the design of future TFC studies.

Abstract:Research and design a 45 m3 mechanical flotation machine in order to achieve a large-scale,high efficiency,energy conservation flotation machine.Describe the structure and operating principle of the flotation machine,focus on the structural design of the tank impel-ler,stator,scraping bubble agencies,steady flow plates in the flotation machine.The performance test by water flotation machine show that, when the impeller speed is 137.58 m/s,immersion depth is 895 mm,the flotation machine has a optimal process indicators.The application of 45 m3 mechanical flotation machine in Dayangquan coal preparation plant shows that,the ash of clean coal is 10. 69%,the ash of tailings is 55.35%,the yield of clean coal is 68.03%.The flotation machine has good recovery effects on different size fractions slime.Compared with FCMC3000 flotation column,in the case of the feed ash has a little difference,the tailings ash,coal yield,combustible body recovery, improve index of the XJM-S45 flotation machine flotation increased by 18.61%,18.84%,23.90%,18.30%.

Abstract:In this paper,a laboratory column flotation system including the installation and the control system was introduced.The flotation performance of the column flotation system such as the removal efficiency of the stickies and ash particles under different gas flow rate and pulp flow rate was investigated.The experiment results showed that the removal efficiency of stickies achieves 83.4% at Vg=0.4 m3/h(Vg means gas flux) and more than half of the ash can be removed.The experiment demonstrated that column flotation has good selectivity for stickies removal.

Abstract:A novel structure floatation cyclone of natural inlet air has been designed, and its structural characteristics and floatation principle have been analyzed. The velocity and pressure distributions within the flow field of the floatation cyclone have been studied by Navier-Stokes equations. Based on the flow characteristics of the mixture of fine coal and water, reasonable boundary conditions are decided and the equations are modified, so that the final equations can describe the real flow state of the flow field of the floatation cyclone. The boundary surface position between float coal and tailings is determined and there is an air cylinder in the central region of the floatation cyclone. The research reveals the floatation mechanism of the floatation cyclone. The floatation results can be greatly improved by regulating the structural dimensions of cyclone. The experimental results show that the floatation cyclone is very effective for the floatation of fine coal grains.

Flow of Gas-Liquid-solid System and Its Application in Packed Flotation Column

Abstract:A packed flotation column, which is packed with multiple board ripple packings, was described. Based on comprehensive steady state models, chemical reactor developed previously in chemical engineering subjects, have been extended to packed flotation column for mineral separation. The experimental results verify that tanks in series model is better than axially-dispersed plug flow model to describe flow pattern in the collection zone of column by RTD (residence time distribution), and the error of experimental data and calculated data of both models are 0.07%～0.1% and 0.18%～0.45% respectively. And, RTD of gas phase was also considered, results also show that gas in the whole column appears plug flow. The cleaning process through adding wash water in froth zone of column was described, and the effect of superficial air velocity and superficial wash water velocity on the cleaning action of froth zone were discussed. Flotation experiment for single column was conducted for phosphate ores. The recovery for P2O5 was 85.8%, and the grade was 26.8%.

Abstract:In order to recover fine scheelites from flotation tailings of cleaner circuit, a novel flotation column, which using microcellular material as bubble generator and using expert system to control key work parameters of the column, was manufactured.Pilot and full scale column flotation experiments were carried out, and interrelated work parameters of the column were obtained.The optimum work parameters are as follows:the superficial velocity of the feed 0.27 cm/s and the superficial velocity of air 1.57 cm/s.The recovery of WO3 reaches 43.41% with an average grade of 24.52%, and the enrichment ratio reaches 35.03.The recoveries of three different size fraction, 5-10 μm, 10-19 μm and 19-38 μm, all reach 65%.Sauter diameter of the bubbles in the column is about 400 μm, and smaller diameter make the flotation rate constant k increases greatly, improving flotation performance, which is the key reason that fine scheelites can be recovered.

Abstract:Based on the analysis of mineral properties,a new type of micro-bubble flotation column was used in a laboratory study on beneficiation of a middle-low grade bauxite from Henan Province.The influence of collector,depressant,aeration rate and eluent flow rate on the separation effect was investigated.The results of the close-circuit test show that,under the optimized conditions,the A/S ratio for the concentrate can be enhanced to 10.26 and the aluminum recovery can be increased to 87.24%,which testifies that this new type of micro-bubble flotation column may have promising application potential in bauxite separation.

Abstract:After flowsheet revision,the practical processing of a complex lead-zinc sulfide ore was carried out,the processing parameters and reagent system were modified,and a new flotation separation technique was advanced.The results show that this new technique can upgrade product quality,improve metal recovery and reduce remarkably the reagent consumption,and notable economic and social benefits can be expected.

Abstract:According to the advantages of the packed flotation column, the packed micro-bubble countercurrent contacting flotation column was applied to the reverse flotation experiments of a hematite. Based on the conditional experiments for operation parameters and reagent system, the flotation process of one roughing, one cleaning and one scavenging was determined. The separation indexes with iron concentrate grade of 67.05% and tailings grade of 11.25% were achieved from the mixed magnetic concentrate feeding with iron grade of 42.15%, which offered references for application of the packed flotation column to flotation of hematite.

Abstract:Based on the study of the flotation of phosphate, a packed column was designed for flotation of low grade phosphate and was expected to have high P2O5 recovery. Both the axially-dispersed plug flow model and the tanks in series model have been tested to simulate the flow pattern in the column. Comparison of model prediction and experimental data showed that the tanks in series model is better than the axially-dispersed plug flow model to describe the flow pattern in the collection region of the column. Simultaneously, experimental work has also described the cleaning process through adding wash water in the froth region of the column. Flotation experiments have been conducted, and high recovery is obtained as expected.
