Abstract:Several new 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives containing a pyrazole ring were designed and synthesized from ethyl acetoacetate and triethyl orthoformate as starting materials via multi-step reactions. The compound structures were confirmed by melting point, 1 H NMR and HRMS. They were evaluated for fungicidal and herbicidal activities. Four of the compounds exhibited moderate fungicidal activity against Colletotrichum species. Most of the compounds had moderate-to-good activity as a herbicide.

Abstract:Some novel 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives containing 1,2,3-thiadiazole were synthesized under microwave-assistant condition by multi-step reactions. The structures were characterized by H-1 NMR, MS, and elemental analyses. The target compounds were evaluated for their herbicidal activities against Brassica campestris and Echinochloa crusgalli, and the results indicated that some of the title compounds displayed good herbicidal activities.

Abstract:Four novel (6-chloroquinoxalin-2-yloxy)phenyl acrylate and acrylonitrile derivatives were designed and synthesized utilizing 2,6-dichloroquinoxaline as a starting material via Baylis-Hillman reaction. Their structures were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR and elemental analyses. Evaluation of their biological activities showed that methyl 2-((3- (6-chloroquinoxalin-2-yloxy)phenyl)(hydroxy)methyl) acrylate (3a) and 2-((4-(6-chloroquinoxalin-2-yloxy)phenyl) (hydroxy)methyl) acrylonitrile (3d) exhibited efficient fungicidal activity, with 100% and 75% control of cucumber downy mildew (CDM) respectively at 400 g a.i./ha.

Abstract:A series of thiazolidin-4-ones with different group on the position N-3 were synthesized by a three-component cyclocondensation of 2,6-dichlorobenzaldehyde, amines and 2-mercaptoacetic acid using a microwave-assisted method. Some corresponding thiazolidin-4-thione derivatives were also prepared in the presence of Lawesson's reagent. The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by IR, H-1 NMR, MS and elemental analysis. Antifungal (Sphaerotheca fusca Blum.) and cytotoxic activities against Hela cell of the compounds were evaluated, and some compounds showed good biological activities.

All of them have been confirmed by (1)H NMR, IR techniques and elemental analysis. Abstract:A novel series of 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives containing a 5-phenyl-2-furan moiety were synthesized from the intermediates diacylhydrazine 3 and acylhydrazone 5 via an efficient approach under microwave irradiation in good yields. Their structures were characterized by IR, H-1 NMR, and elemental analysis. The antifungal tests indicated that the title compounds showed in vivo fungicidal activity against Botrytis cinerea and Rhizoctonia solanii at 500 mu g/mL obviously. Some tested compounds even had a superiority effect over the commercial fungicides 40% Pyrimethanil SC and 3% Validamycin AS. The activity between the title compound and their precursors diacylhydrazine 3 and acylhydrazone 5 was also compared and discussed.

Abstract:A series of novel 2-cyanoacrylates containing a 4,5-dihydro-5-oxo-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl moiety were synthesized from (5-methoxy-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)methanamine and 2-cyanoacrylates in refluxing ethanol. Their structures were confirmed by H-1 NMR, IR spectra and elemental analysis. Biological activity tests showed that some compounds exhibited good herbicidal activities and good selectivity against dicotyledonous weeds. Compound 6j showed the highest herbicidal activity at the dose of 1.5 kg/ha with 100% inhibition activity against rape. Some of the target compounds also possessed good fungicidal activity and plant growth regulatory activity. An appropriate size group at the 3-position of acrylate is essential for high herbicidal activity.

Abstract:A series of novel 2-cyanoacrylates containing an oxazole, oxadiazole, or quinoline moiety were designed and synthesized, and their structures were characterized by (1)H NMR and elemental analysis (or high-resolution mass spectrometry). Their herbicidal activities against four weeds were evaluated, and the result indicated that some of the title compounds showed excellent herbicidal activities against rape and amaranth pigweed in postemergence treatment at a dose of 375 g/ha. Furthermore, most of these cyanoacrylates exhibited interesting plant growth regulatory activities.

Abstract:A facile, high efficiency microwave-assisted method was established for synthesizing novel quinoline lactones. All the synthesized compounds were characterized by H-1 NMR, infrared spectrum, mass spectrum and elementary analysis. The preliminary bioassays result tests indicated that part of compounds have certain activity against Escherichia coli.
