Abstract:X-ray fluorescence computed tomography (XFCT) is one of the most commonly used X-ray fluorescence imaging modalities. XFCT can provide molecular and functional information at a lower internal dose, which uses X-ray tubes to simulate X-ray fluorescence (XRF) photons. For XFCT, mechanical collimators are usually used to obtain the incident direction of photons, which will lead to the loss of detection efficiency. Compton camera (CC) is an imaging method without mechanical collimators, which can realize three-dimensional imaging with scanning in a single view. In this work, we present the first result of X-ray fluorescence Compton imaging. The proposed X-ray fluorescence Compton camera (XFCC) consists of a 150kVp X-ray tube and a Timepix3 photon-counting detector. When imaging with a 6mm diameter pipe filled with 100 mg/ml Gd solution, the maximum half width (FWHM) is about 12 mm.
