Abstract:A new route for the synthesis of 6-bromo-4,4-dimethylthiochroman was proposed and the optimized conditions for each step were obtained.Bromobenzene was selected as starting material and 6-bromo-4,4-dimethylthiochroman was prepared via chlorosulfonation,reduction,thioetherification and cyclization with the yield of 88.5%.Except the reduction,which had to be performed at a higher temperature,the other three steps proceeded at temperatures lower than 50oC.Thus both the energy cost and byproducts were decreased.Compared to previous routes,the proposed one in this work is advanced for its lower cost and less contamination,so it is suitable to be industrially amplified.

Abstract:The synthesis of monocarborane sulfonamides is reported. The methodology relies on coupling of the anionic {CB 11 } boron cluster to sulfonyl azides. Under rhodium catalysis and with the assistance of a pyridine or pyrimidine directing group at the C1 position, the cluster undergoes B−H activation. Conditions have been identified that lead to B2‐selective mono‐sulfonamidation with concomitant loss of N 2 . The protocol requires no additional ligand, oxidant or base and enables B−N bond formation with various monocarborane and sulfonyl azide inputs. The new products possess the structure [1‐(heteroaryl)‐2‐(NHSO 2 Ar)−CB 11 H 10 ] − and have been fully characterized by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. In addition, three solid state structures confirm the particular B2 substitution pattern. Furthermore, the stoichiometric reaction of the pyridinyl monocarborane precursor with Rh(III) affords a cyclometalated complex with a direct B−Rh bond that has also been characterized by X‐ray crystallography.

Selective α-Bromination of Functionalized Ketene Dithioacetals

Abstract:Functionalized ketene dithioacetals are important intermediates in organic synthesis.α-Functionalization reactions based on them provide potential precursors for the construction of usefully carbo-and heterocyclic compounds.In this paper,a versatileα-bromination of functionalized ketene dithioacetals was developed.In the presence of H2 O,the reactions of functionalized ketene dithioacetals(1) with CuBr 2 in THF at room temperature gave variousα-bromo ketene dithioacetals(2) in excellent yields with high regioselectivities.The mechanism of thisα-bromination is proposed to undergo an addition of bromine formed in situ to compound 1 and sequontial elimination of theα-proton.The simplicity of execution,mild conditions,inexpensive,easily usable brominating agent and high yields,make this synthetic method attractive for practical applications.
A Simple and Efficient Preparation of High-Purity and High-Yield Unsolvated Lithium Dodecaborate

Abstract:We present a new and simple approach for the synthesis of lithium dodecaborate (Li2B12H12) in high purity and high yield, based on the reaction between borane dimethyl sulfide complex (DMS·BH3) and lithium borohydride (LiBH4) in glymes (monoglyme or diglyme). The reaction can conveniently be performed either in a Schlenk flask with or without reflux, or in an autoclave. This strategy exhibits various advantages over existing methods, including high product purity, high reaction yields (up to 96%), and operational simplicity. The enclosed system provided by an autoclave is shown to be more favorable for the synthesis of the B12H122– anion and enables obtaining the highest yields. The reaction mechanism has been investigated by 11B NMR spectroscopy, revealing a stepwise formation of B2H7−, B3H8−, B9H14−, B11H14− and B11H132− intermediates. This synthesis method is extended to the M2B12H12 (M = Li, Na, K) series, yielding metal dodecaboranes coordinated with glymes, characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. We show that glymes can be removed through simple exchange with weaker coordinating solvents like DMSO or H2O, followed by heating under vacuum.

Abstract:A novel approach to the synthesis of 2,2′,3,3′-biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride is described. The target compound was prepared by a nickel-catalyzed coupling reaction of dimethy 3-chlorophthalate (3-DMCP) for 4 h at 70–80 °C, followed by subsequent hydrolysis of tetra-ester in acid solution and dehydration of tetra-acid, with overall yield of 68%. The structures of the products were characterized by IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR respectively.

Abstract:A facile one-pot synthesis of functionalized (E)-β -arylvinyl bromides bearing various 4-alkoxycarbonyl and 4-aryloxycarbonyl groups was achieved by debrominative decarboxylation of anti-2,3- dibromo-3-(4-carboxyphenyl)propanoic acid in the presence of AgOAc and subsequent esterification in the presence of dicyclohexyl carbodiimide and dimethylaminopyridine. This method gives (E)-β - arylvinyl bromides in high stereoselectivities and high yields, and tolerates aldehyde, ester, and nitro functional groups.

Abstract:In the present work, a series of organometallic thioates bearing a 5,6,7,12-tetrahydrodibenzo[c,f][1,5]azastibocine or -azabismocine framework were synthesized through the cross-coupling reactions of the corresponding halide precursors with thiols and disulfides at room temperature. The former transformation can be achieved under additive-free conditions, and mild dithiothreitol (DTT) is the only additive in the latter. Both methods feature simple operation, broad substrate scope, and good reaction yields. Antifungal assays showed that the synthesized organobismuth(III) thioates possess significantly higher degrees of antibiotic activity against Candida albicans in comparison with clinical fluconazole, while inhibitory effects of Sb-sulfenylated products are low to negligible. Furthermore, the antibiofilm potential of such Bi–S bond-containing compounds was discovered as well.

Abstract:We report an efficient method for the preparation of various 2,2′-dihalobiaryls from cyclic diaryliodonium salts. With cheap halogen sources as starting materials, a broad range of 2,2′-diiodobiaryls, 2-bromo-2′-iodobiaryls, and 2-chloro-2′-iodobiaryls were obtained under mild reaction conditions. The abstraction of a chlorine atom with NaBAr F from triarylbismuth dichloride species leads to monomeric and dimeric chlorotriarylbismuthonium species, which show a distinct behavior in solution and solid-state in comparison to their fluorotriarylbismuthonium analogues.

Abstract:An efficient method is disclosed for the synthesis of novel α,β-unsaturated sulfonic acid derivatives containing dithiocarbamate/xanthate groups through ring opening of an α,β-unsaturated γ-sultone with dithiocarbamic acid salts or xanthates prepared in situ. Treatment of the primary products with hydrochloric acid afforded the corresponding β-chloro-γ-(dithiocarbamato)propanesulfonic acids in excellent yields.

Abstract:An efficient method for the synthesis of various halobenzothioamides from the hydrosulfuration of a variety of halobenzonitriles with NaHS under mild conditions was developed by adding auxiliary reagent MgCl 2 · 6 H 2 O. It was found that an excellent yield of benzothioamides is obtained from the hydrosulfuration of halobenzonitrile with inorganic sulfur reagents by adjusting the pH value of the reaction solution. Reaction condition optimization experiments revealed, that high yields of products were obtained in the pH range of 8–10.
