Empirical Research On Production Efficiency Of Construction Industry In Central China Based On Dea

Abstract:The problem of production efficiency of construction industry has always been a nationwide topic. In order to improve the construction development of central regions that is relatively slow currently, (CR)-R-2 and BC2 models involved in data envelopment analysis (DEA) are selected as the theoretical basis,and 4 input indicators and 3 output indicators that are relatively effective are constructed in this study to analyze the production efficiency of construction industry of six provinces in central China based on the China's construction industry statistical data in 2010. The Malmquist-DEA method is employed to make a further analysis of input and output growth in DEA-invalid provinces in the eleventh "five-year plan" period. The results show that Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei and Hunan are DEA-effective in construction, and there are large radial movement and slack movement in Shanxi Province; further analysis to input and output growth of construction enterprises in Shanxi Province demonstrates that it witnessed ups and downs,even alternate reverse and growth,which resulted only from technology progress and failed to achieve economies of scale. Overall, Shanxi Province should improve its technical efficiency and scale efficiency through construction enterprise restructuring, technical reform, the integration, optimization and good use of the existing resources,so as to enhance the production efficiency of the whole construction industry.
