Factor Analysis-based Industrial Agglomeration Measurement

Abstract:In view of the single index in the measurement of industrial agglomeration degree is insufficient, this paper chose thirty-one mainland provinces as research samples, with Chinese industry as the research object, and firstly analyzed five methods that reflect the degree of industrial aggregation from various aspects, of which the calculating results are marked as the five factors that influence the degree of industrial aggregation. Then by use of clustering analysis, the reliability that the degree of industrial aggregation can be measured by factor analysis was testified. Based on the above, the paper observed the level and change trend of industrial aggregation on twenty-seven industries in China, and relevant conclusions are drawn that during the years 2005 to 2010, our country's whole industrial aggregation degree has been basically stable. Finally, the paper puts forward the corresponding policies and suggestions specific to the underlying problems conveyed by the analysis.
