Abstract:The paper introduces the function of spray cooling tower in Consteel EAF and its application after the transformation of steel-making process of blending of EAF and Converter.It makes analysis and innovation of existing problem after the transformation steel-making process of blending of EAF and Converter,such as the content of SO2 in the fume increased,and strong acid etching after reaction with steam with high temperature.Good effect was achieved.The successful application of this dedusting system of energy-saving and environmental-friendly indictes that spraying cooling technique would have a wide room in the environmental protection technique innovation.

Abstract:The present paper introduces the latest improvement of continuous casting technologies and equipments in the 2nd Branch Works of the Central Steel-making Plant,WISCO including automatic control system for crystallizer level,vibration detection technology for outflow slag process at ladle,application of ceramic filter at tundish,development application of IFD pre-melt tundish slag,application of continuous temperature-testing technology,etc.Furthermore,it outlines the actual effect on improving the cleanliness of the liquid steel in our branch Works through the application of the above-mentioned new technologies and equipments.

Abstract:This paper introduced the operating method of circulating water system of Thermo-electric Department of Tianjin Petrochemical Co., Ltd., SINOPEC, and analyzed in detail the reasons of high corrosion rate and turbidity of circulating water and corrosion and leakage of copper tubes in steam turbine coagulator. Aiming at existent problems of circulating water system, the disk bypass filtration system was added to remove suspended matter and prevent underdeposit corrosion; water quality stabilizer was added to prevent corrosion and operating process for controlling water quality was adjusted. These measures created a good condition for safe production.

Abstract:According to the actual situation of external cooling water recycling system in direct current (DC) converter station, a water saving device was designed. The recycling use of external cooling water was realized by adding a counter flow cooling tower and electronic water treater for scaling. This device can decrease the discharge of external cooling water and reduce the risk for the normal operation of DC power transmission system due to disrupting of external water supply. It has good economic and social benefits and should be popularized.

Abstract:The shape and convexity are crucial quality assessment indicators for hot-rolled electrical steel strips. Besides bending rolls, shifting rolls, and the original roll profile, the thermal roll profile also plays a significant role in controlling the shape and convexity during the hot-rolling process. However, it is always overlooked due to its dynamic uncertainty. To solve this problem, it is necessary to achieve online cooling-status control for the local thermal expansion of rolls. Based on the existing structure of a mill, a pair of special partition-cooling beams with an intelligent cooling system was designed. For high efficiency and practicality, a new online predictive model was established for the dynamic temperature field of the hot-rolling process. An equivalent treatment was applied to the boundary condition corresponding to the practical cooling water flow. In addition, by establishing the corresponding target distribution curve for the partitioned water flow cooling, online water-flow-partitioning control of the thermal roll profile was achieved. In the practical application process, a large number of onsite results exhibited that the predicted error was within 5% compared to the experimental results. The temperature difference between the upper and lower rolls was within 5 °C, and the temperature difference on both sides of the rolls was controlled within 0.7 °C. The hit rate of convexity (C40) increased by 33%. It was demonstrated that the partition-cooling processes of hot rolling are effective for the local shape and special convexity. They are able to serve as a better control method in the hot-rolling process.

Abstract:Abstract From the current analysis of steel materials in the field of heat treatment and offline heat treatment, the implementation of advanced heat treatment equipment and processes for automated metal materials in China has carried out numerous innovations. In order to improve the technical level of localized equipment and promote the continuous development of new industrialization processes, the use of green manufacturing processes to achieve heat treatment of steel and non-ferrous metals is the focus of current research. This paper focuses on the analysis of advanced heat treatment equipment, process and product development of metal materials, and proposes to adopt green manufacturing concept and carry out research and development on advanced heat treatment equipment and technology of metal materials. It is expected to have reference value for improving rolling technology and continuous rolling automation in China.

Abstract:Circulating cooling water consumes a large amount of water in thermal power plant, and there are some problems such as scaling and corrosion in the system. This study presents a novel circulating cooling water treatment process based on microbes. The mechanism and influencing factors of microbial treatment process of circulating cooling water is studied. Water from circulating cooling system of a 300 MW thermal power unit was used, dynamic simulation test was carried out and compared between the microbial treatment process and the traditional chemical treatment process. The results showed that nutrient solution dosage on calcium hardness is positive, while the interaction between nutrient solution dosage and aeration rate has negative effect. When ammonia concentration is 10–50 mg/L and aeration rate is 1–3 L, and the minimum calcium hardness is 18.3 mmol/L. Reducing the concentration of nutrient solution and increasing the aeration rate are beneficial to slow down the corrosion of carbon steel and stainless steel. When ammonia concentration is 10–50 mg/L and aeration rate is 1–3 L, the minimum corrosion rates are 0.01552 and 0.00110 mm/a, respectively. Compared with traditional chemical treatment process, the microbial treatment process can achieve the scale inhibition and corrosion inhibition target at high concentration ratio, the highest concentration ratio can reach 5.4, and the corrosion rate of carbon steel and stainless steel is low. The green, efficient and environment-friendly microbial treatment process provides a new method for circulating cooling water treatment, which can obtain stable and economical operation of circulating cooling water system under high concentration ratio.

Abstract:Billet reheating is an important part of the steel production process. Since the production process will adopt different tube billet arrangement strategies, and the condition of the furnace hearth will also change due to long-term operation and accumulation of iron oxide scales, these factors will inevitably affect heating efficiency and temperature distribution uniformity of the tube billet, thereby affecting the quality of the final product. In this study, a physical and mathematical model was established for a 48m-diameter rotary hearth furnace (RHF) of the seamless steel pipe production line and typical 300mm-diameter tube billets of different lengths. Commercial Fluent code was used to carry out Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation research on the influence of the above factors. Optimizing and adjusting strategies under different arrangement strategies were proposed, and the influence of furnace hearth condition change on heating effect was studied. The methods and simulation approach of this paper also have guidance for the billet heating control in similar continuous heating furnaces.

Abstract:An essential component for optimizing and safeguarding the operation of high power electronic equipment such as FACTS and HVDC is the cooling system.Pure-water cooling keeps vital PE components at the right temperature and prevents scaling.The operating experience of the water-cooling system of SVCs for the Lai Gang Group's 50t electric are furnace was introduced in the illustration of design parameters,operating principle,technical characteristics and actual operating situations of the full-closed circulating water-cooling system. The performance of the system proved that the full-closed circulating water-cooling system can provide a well heat-dissipating condition for the SVC.

Abstract:Based on solidification theory and analysis of process of Aluminum alloy Direct Chill casting-the control system of DC casting for big size billet has been designed. For improving the quality of billet-optimized control strategy of cooling water must be determined to eliminate the instability of the traditional feedforward control-PID control and cascade control have been introduced. After being simulated by Matlab/Simulink-PID single circuit and Cascade Control were both suitable and will be adopted respectively in cooling water system.

Abstract:The widespread use of fossil energy emits a large amount of carbon dioxide, leading to the greenhouse effect and global warming. The essence of reducing carbon emissions is to achieve higher-quality sustainable development. The recycling of waste heat in the iron and steel industry is of great significance to reducing carbon emissions. Aiming at the problem of insufficient utilization of gas in iron and steel industry and the development of seawater desalination industry, a water-electricity cogeneration and thermal membrane coupling technology is established. Low-temperature multi-effect distillation seawater desalination device is directly connected with steam turbine generator, which uses gas to generate electricity. After generating electricity, negative pressure exhaust at the end of steam turbine is used for seawater desalination. The thermal efficiency of the system is increased to over 80%, the waste heat is effectively utilized, and the carbon emission in the thermal desalination process is reduced. At the same time, the high-efficiency removal and resource utilization of salt in concentrated seawater are realized. The recovery ratio of freshwater is over 55%, the salt content of freshwater is below 500 mg/L, and the salt content of seawater concentrated by membrane method can reach 79,450 mg/L. A new comprehensive utilization and recycling system of seawater has been constructed to realize efficient recycling of energy resources and promote the development process of carbon emission reduction.

Abstract:This paper describes a heat transfer model based automatic secondary cooling system for a billet caster. The model aims to minimize the variation in surface temperature and excessive reheating of the billet strands. It is also used to avoid the low ductility trough of the solidifying steel, which aggravates the tendency of steel to crack. The system has been designed and implemented in an integrated steel plant. A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based automation system has been developed to control the water flow in the secondary cooling zones of the strand. The results obtained through field trials have shown complete elimination of internal and off-corner cracks for the fifty billet samples that were monitored.

Abstract:Enhancing the effect of circulating cooling water treatment plays an important role in pro longing the actual life of heat exchanger and the operation period of the equipment, reducing cost and increasing benefit of the corporation. The relationship of the circulating cooling water treatment effect with the actual life of heat exchanger and the operation period of the equipment was analyzed. The conclusion can be drawn that the actual service life of the heat exchanger and the operation period of the equipment depend on the effect of circulating cooling water treatment. The excellent effect can ensure the actual life more than 18 years for the heat exchanger though the design life is only 8 years and the operation period of the equipment can be as long as 79 months. So it leads to an enormous economic benefit.
Comprehensive evaluation on energy-water saving effects in iron and steel industry

Abstract:The production of iron and steel is energy-intensive that motivated the emergence of various energy-saving technologies to reduce energy consumption. However, the effects of water-saving brought by these energy-saving technologies are rarely examined which can lead to misevaluation of their economic feasibility. In this regard, material flow analysis (MFA) was used in this study to establish the water-energy nexus and examine the potential of water-saving and energy-saving effects in the condition of applying various mixes of the 16 technologies (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, 2015-2016) in iron and steel industry. Meanwhile, this study classified the selected 16 energy-saving technologies into three groups: direct water-saving technology, indirect water-saving technology, and water consumption technology. The low-temperature steel rolling technology is the only water-consuming energy-saving technology in this study; its indirect specific water computation reaches 0.06 m3/t. The remaining 15 energy-saving technologies have the potential of saving water indirectly, with averaged indirect specific water-saving amounting to 0.28 m3/t. This study also built an evaluation scheme of cost-benefit analysis for energy-saving technologies. With consideration of benefits brought by water saving, eleven technologies have the potential to achieve economic feasibility compared to nine in which mere energy-saving effects being considered. The results show that if the studied 16 technologies are implemented simultaneously, the comprehensive specific energy consumption will be reduced by 4.28 MJ, and the specific fresh water consumption will be reduced by 0.68 m3. Meanwhile, this research found that the cost of most energy-saving technologies will be decreased by an average of 5.52 CNY/GJ, despite the cost of low-temperature steel rolling technology increased by 0.68 CNY/GJ. This study evaluated the cost-effectiveness of energy-saving technologies taking the benefits of water conservation into consideration. It could provide references for decision-makers to develop commercialization strategies on energy saving technologies in the steel industry.

Abstract:Resent progress in steel rolling technology in China was briefly introduced in present work,including: technology integration and development of production lines,such as hot wide strip,wide and heavy plate,large-scale cold continuous rolling and three roll continuous pipe-rolling mill,as well as the equipment modernization development of thin slab casting and rolling line;progress in steel rolling technologies such as semi-endless rolling,thin strip production,long length(100m) rail rolling and new generation controlled cooling technology;research and application of microstructure-property control during the rolling process,and the development of production technology and steel grades including high performance and high strength strip,medium heavy plate,cold rolling strip,long products and tubes;development of energy-saving and emission-reduction technology,such as the non-oxidizing or low oxidizing heat equipment and technology.
