Abstract:The k-valued Kleene functions over Kleene algebra (instead of over Post algebra) are defined. Multivalued logic and fuzzy logic are studied in the light of lattice theory. It is shown that all Kleene k-valued logic (k = 3 or more) have the same algebraic structure as fuzzy logic through lattice isomorphism. As a by-product, an asymptotic formula and upper bound for enumeratinlg fuzzy switching functions of n variables is obtained. Some conditions for minimizing Kleene functions are discussed, and an efficient generalized Karnaught map method is described. An application is made of the above Kleene multivalued logic to the fault diagnosis of combinational circuits. The fault norm of a combinational circuit is introduced and it is shown that this norm contains all the information about the fault situation of the circuit, and can hence be used to solve such problems as fault analysis, fault diagnosis, and detection of circuit redundance and fault masking.

Abstract:Many authors discussed the interpolation mechanism of fuzzy logic system applied in control. The input and output of fuzzy control system are always restrained in (fuzzy) numbers-associated with fuzzification and defuzzification procedure. In artificial intelligence area we need use common fuzzy sets to represent vague and fuzzy concept. In this paper, we propose a "local relation mapping" theory, which is a corresponding result of interpolation mechanism of fuzzy logical system without fuzzification and defuzzification. This local relation mapping property holds in Mamdani algorithm (Max-Min fuzzy reasoning model). We find that each CRI fuzzy reasoning method based on the multi-valued logic implication operator has an approximate Mamdani algorithm. The fuzzy relation matrix of CRI fuzzy inference method based on the multivalued logic implication operator has an enveloping surface of Mamdani algorithm. So most CRI fuzzy reasoning methods have local relation mapping property approximately

Abstract:The fuzzy reasoning system contains more information than its form-generalized modus ponens (GMP), So it's hard to use GMP as a formal deduction rule directly. In this paper we represent these vague and fuzzy information as relations on concepts, we view rules of fuzzy reasoning system as a mapping from the set of antecedents to the set of consequents, and this mapping holds some relations on antecedents and consequents. Given a premise, we use a extension of the mapping as deduction rule, and this extension holds the relations on the set of antecedents and the set of consequents locally. This reasoning method can be employed to many case that fuzzy reasoning is applied. We propose a vague knowledge representation framework called pattern classes, and have discussed some useful concept about vague knowledge representation and reasoning. To some extent, representing fuzzy information as relations on concepts is an orthogonal representation method comparing with fuzzy sets. In many cases this reasoning method can deal with fuzziness without using fuzzy sets theory. It indicates a probability to employ GMP to a formal logic system.

Abstract:<p>The negation of a problem provides a new perspective for information representation. However, existing negation method has limitations since it can only be applied to the accurately expressed knowledge. Real-world information is imperfect and imprecise. It usually describes in natural language. In view of this, Prof. Zadeh suggested the concept of Z-number as a more adequate way for description of real world information. As Z-number involves both fuzzy and probabilistic uncertainty, a novel method for the negation of Z-number in combination of probability and fuzziness is proposed from the reliability of probability transmission in this paper. Moreover, several examples are used to describe the negation process and result. As far as our latest knowledge is concerned, the negation of Z-number has not been covered by researchers, so this may be another door for us to process Z-number-based information.</p>

Abstract:Fuzzy Petri Net(FPN) is an extension of Petri Net(PN).Previous research focuses on the representation and reasoning of the fuzzy rules with FPN.However,fuzzy production rules with negative literals can not be expressed and reasoned effectively in traditional methods.The inherent meanings of the negative literals in fuzzy production rules are discussed in this paper,while negations of the input proposition can be represented as the negative impact on the rules,and negations of the consequents can be treated as that the rule blocks the consequents.Based on it,Consistent Fuzzy Petri Net(CFPN) model is proposed,which is more suitable to represent the fuzzy logic programs with negations.Thresholds are also introduced to CFPN model.Finally,a formal reasoning algorithm for the CFPN model is presented and validated.

Abstract:This paper analyzes that the main difficulty in reasoning with general terminological axioms is that the membership degrees of fuzzy interpretations are not discrete, but continous in [0,1]. To remove this obstacle difficulty, this paper proposes a discretization method of fuzzy interpretation to translate membership degrees into discrete values in a finite set. Based on this discretization, it gives a discrete Tableau reasoning technique for FALCN reasoning problems with general terminological axioms, which consists of the definition of discrete Tableaus, a construction algorithm for discrete Tableaus and the proof of soundness, completeness and complexity of this algorithm.

Abstract:To derive the negative rules from the incomplete decision information system,the concept of dissimilarity knowledge granule based on similarity relation is firstly proposed.Moreover,the approach to acquire the certain and uncertain negative rules is presented,and heuristic algorithm of the attribute reduction based on the significant attributes is introduced.Finally,an illustrative example is analyzed.These results are meaningful both in the theory and applications for rules' acquisition in incomplete decision systems.

Abstract:n-Dimensional fuzzy sets is a fuzzy set extension where the membership values are n-tuples of real numbers in the unit interval [0,1] orderly increased, called n-dimensional intervals. The set of n-dimensional intervals is denoted by Ln([0,1]). This paper aims to investigate a special extension from [0,1] - n-representable fuzzy negations on Ln([0,1]), summarizing the class of such functions which are continuous and monotone by part. The main properties of (strong) fuzzy negations on [0,1] are preserved by representable (strong) fuzzy negation on Ln([0,1]), mainly related to the analysis of degenerate elements and equilibrium points. The conjugate obtained by action of an n-dimensional automorphism on an $n$-dimensional fuzzy negation provides a method to obtain other n-dimensional fuzzy negation, in which properties such as representability, continuity and monotonicity on Ln([0,1]) are preserved.

Abstract:The relation among various semantic approaches for programming in three-valued logics is further clarified, some of the main results on Lassez and Maher's consequence operator are generalized, and all possible choices of three-valued implications under the following two conditions are found: (1) Every program has the (strong or weak) model intersection property, and (2) Fixpoints or post-fixpoints of Delahaye and Thibau, Fitting, and Lassez and Maher's consequence operators associated with a program coincide with its models. To overcome some objections to programming in three-valued logics, a four-valued semantics for logic programming with negation is also proposed.

Abstract:It is widely recognized today that the management of imprecision and vagueness will yield more intelligent and realistic knowledge-based applications. Description Logics (DLs) are a family of knowledge representation languages that have gained considerable attention the last decade, mainly due to their decidability and the existence of empirically high performance of reasoning algorithms. In this paper, we extend the well known fuzzy ALC DL to the fuzzy SHIN DL, which extends the fuzzy ALC DL with transitive role axioms (S), inverse roles (I), role hierarchies (H) and number restrictions (N). We illustrate why transitive role axioms are difficult to handle in the presence of fuzzy interpretations and how to handle them properly. Then we extend these results by adding role hierarchies and finally number restrictions. The main contributions of the paper are the decidability proof of the fuzzy DL languages fuzzy-SI and fuzzy-SHIN, as well as decision procedures for the knowledge base satisfiability problem of the fuzzy-SI and fuzzy-SHIN.

Abstract:One of the main challenges in the area of Neuro-Symbolic AI is to perform logical reasoning in the presence of both neural and symbolic data. This requires combining heterogeneous data sources such as knowledge graphs, neural model predictions, structured databases, crowd-sourced data, and many more. To allow for such reasoning, we generalise the standard rule-based language Datalog with existential rules (commonly referred to as tuple-generating dependencies) to the fuzzy setting, by allowing for arbitrary t-norms in the place of classical conjunctions in rule bodies. The resulting formalism allows us to perform reasoning about data associated with degrees of uncertainty while preserving computational complexity results and the applicability of reasoning techniques established for the standard Datalog setting. In particular, we provide fuzzy extensions of Datalog chases which produce fuzzy universal models and we exploit them to show that in important fragments of the language, reasoning has the same complexity as in the classical setting.

Abstract:In this paper, we present two new classes of fuzzy negations. They are an extension of a well-known class of fuzzy negations, the Sugeno Class. We use it as a base for our work for the first two construction methods. The first method generates rational fuzzy negations, where we use a second-degree polynomial with two parameters. We investigate which of these two conditions must be satisfied to be a fuzzy negation. In the second method, we use an increasing function instead of the parameter δ of the Sugeno class. In this method, using an arbitrary increasing function with specific conditions, fuzzy negations are produced, not just rational ones. Moreover, we compare the equilibrium points of the produced fuzzy negation of the first method and the Sugeno class. We use the equilibrium point to present a novel method which produces strong fuzzy negations by using two decreasing functions which satisfy specific conditions. We also investigate the convexity of the new fuzzy negation. We give some conditions that coefficients of fuzzy negation of the first method must satisfy in order to be convex. We present some examples of the new fuzzy negations, and we use them to generate new non-symmetric fuzzy implications by using well-known production methods of non-symmetric fuzzy implications. We use convex fuzzy negations as decreasing functions to construct an Archimedean copula. Finally, we investigate the quadratic form of the copula and the conditions that the coefficients of the first method and the increasing function of the second method must satisfy in order to generate new copulas of this form.

Abstract:The paper introduces fuzzy linguistic logic programming, which is a combination of fuzzy logic programming, introduced by P. Vojtas, and hedge algebras in order to facilitate the representation and reasoning on human knowledge expressed in natural languages. In fuzzy linguistic logic programming, truth values are linguistic ones, e.g., VeryTrue, VeryProbablyTrue, and LittleFalse, taken from a hedge algebra of a linguistic truth variable, and linguistic hedges (modifiers) can be used as unary connectives in formulae. This is motivated by the fact that humans reason mostly in terms of linguistic terms rather than in terms of numbers, and linguistic hedges are often used in natural languages to express different levels of emphasis. The paper presents: (i) the language of fuzzy linguistic logic programming; (ii) a declarative semantics in terms of Herbrand interpretations and models; (iii) a procedural semantics which directly manipulates linguistic terms to compute a lower bound to the truth value of a query, and proves its soundness; (iv) a fixpoint semantics of logic programs, and based on it, proves the completeness of the procedural semantics; (v) several applications of fuzzy linguistic logic programming; and (vi) an idea of implementing a system to execute fuzzy linguistic logic programs.

Abstract:Fuzzy logic, especially fuzzy reasoning, has been widely used in many real-world applications for its tremendous practical value. This paper mainly focuses on a new theoretical principle of fuzzy logic, fuzzy reasoning, and its applications. It starts with enunciating a novel foundation: the Fundamental Axiom of Reasoning. We then propose a practical framework, which enables the Fundamental Axiom of Reasoning to be applied to various applications. This framework is divided into discrete case and continuous case. In the discrete case, we first solve the sorites paradox. We then proceed to a pattern recognition problem. So far, these are all passive approach in that the Fundamental Axiom of Reasoning is used as is to measure if the reasoning is valid. In the continuous case, we proceed to actively designing the reasoning so that the Fundamental Axiom of Reasoning is always guaranteed through Lyapunov stability approaches. This is formulated as a control-theoretic task. The problem of reasoning is converted to a control design one. This is then applied to a vehicle following problem. Through theoretical analysis and practical demonstrations, we show how the Fundamental Axiom of Reasoning can be conceptualized, articulated, and formalized in fuzzy reasoning.
