Abstract:Now,mass customization（MC） has become one of the most important branch of advanced manufacturing technology. In this paper, a theoretical model about MC is established. Then, some original ideas about MC's definition, classification, philosophism are introduced with the conclusions, inspiration and enlightenment. Based on the analysis of MC's application ideology and method system, the authors elucidated the theoretical base of MC. Of course, especially importantissue is that the authors gave out some concrete examples about MC in this paper.

Abstract:In order to increase productivity, integrated manufacturing as a kind of strategy has become more and more important. A conceptual model of integrated manufacturing was proposed. Focusing on the numerical control machining of customized product, the integrated manufacturing principle for mass customization was discussed and architecture model of an integrated manufacturing system was presented as well. Firstly, the master model and master NC (numerical control) program of customized product were built. Then these manufacturing resources were unified managed in the PDM (product data management) system. Based on these resources, variant design of customized product could be carried out, at the same time NC machining program of customized product could be generated rapidly. Secondly, NC machining program was input into the NC machining tool through a DNC (distributed numerical control) system, and then remote machining and control would be realized. By adopting this integrated manufacturing system, company can implement mass customization production effectively

Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems

Abstract:After the main problems in the Mass Production of Custom-tailor Apparel (MPoCtA) are analyzed, the architecture of the integrated information system based on network for the mass production is put forward, and main business processes related to the integration and its shared data and information are discussed. Then rule-based knowledge base techniques in MPoCtA and its practice in the automatic transformation of apparel pattern are elaborated. Finally, a system of custom-tailor apparel in one company is introduced, which integrates the design, production and distribution. The accuracy of transformation of apparel pattern in this system reached 90%.

Abstract:In the paper,a new quantitative analysis method has been putforward.This method can be used for the description,comparison and analysis for the mass production,customization production and mass customization production.Through a practical example,two basic methods of the mass customization,which are the back-moving of the customer order decoupling point and the modularization,are illustrated.At the end of the paper,an example from an actual system is given.All of these showed,the quantitative analysis method is valuable for the appraisement of mass customization.

Abstract:In the new and emerging mass customization (MC) strategy, companies provide customized products or services on the basis of flexible manufacturing and modem information technology (IT). This paper focuses on the rapid design and automatization issue of NC machining program. A NC programming system for mass customization was investigated and employed to construct master NC program of part family and generate NC machining program of variant part rapidly. The purpose is to increase the development efficiency of NC machining program in mass customization company and make the NC machining program meet the variant design of part. In order to expedite the implementation of such a system,the NC programming principle for mass customization was researched. The model of master NC program was presented based on the definition of machining feature and the design of NC subprogram base. In addition,the content and structure of master NC program were analyzed. Then a prototype system was designed and its function model was presented on the basis of CAD system and PDM system. Finally,a case study on bearing cover was carried out to verify the validity of this system.

Abstract:To meet the NC program design of mechanical parts for Mass Customization, this paper puts forward the systematic structure and information model of NC program design. On the basis of the NC program intelligent design system, Product Data Management (PDM) and CAD are integrated as the platform, then, the main NC program of part is obtained through putting the parameter document into the NC program intelligent design system from SML (Tabular Layouts of Article Characteristics). NC Meta-model program stock is founded by adopting the Meta-model idea, which is seen as the resource-stock for NC design. According to the customization need, the parameters are changed in SML, then, the Meta-model program stock is searched, the configuration and variant design are realized through distilling, increasing, deleting and modifying the sub-program. Finally, the customized NC code is obtained. The T6436 rotor-circulating part is applied to validate the theory in the paper. Results show the NC program design for Mass Customization improves the design efficiency and meets product customization.

Abstract:In the view of the mass customization several manufacturing systems including the modular production system are compared in this paper. The characteristics, design method and application foreground of the modular production system are analysed. The research results showed that the modular production system with higher productivity and better flexibility, lower investment and higher benefit is much suitable to the Chinese situation.

Abstract:The production of MC can provided customers with persoual and customized product quickly and in lower price. As a result, MC is becoming the main production mode. Though the production modes in the different industries were different, the direction of their development is similar. Some modes are from mass production in the past to MC just as car and TV sets industry, some are from customized production in the past to MC just as shipping and steamer machine industry, others are from batch production in the past to MC just as machine tool and aviation industry. The degrees MC adopted are certainly distinct.

Abstract:The master document includes all kinds of templates, and various templates can be used to derive different documents. The basic principle of using the master document to derive the other documents is integrating the data in the corresponding line of the Tabular Layouts of Article Characteristics with the master document, then, automatically generating various documents. This technology can be used to design quickly and accurately, meeting the demand of mass customization. We discussed the basic principle, the modeling method of master document technology based on the Tabular Layouts of Article Characteristics, and introduced its application.

Abstract:A rapid project planning method based on project main plan was proposed, according to the feature of engineering to order (ETO) product mass customization. Project main plan was established based on the product main structure. The process of project plan instantiation was researched, and the project plan knowledge base was described. The project plan of ETO product mass customization could be built rapidly through project plan instantiation, so the project plan was efficiently implemented. An engine product example was given to verify the feasibility of the principle. The engine project's main plan was built up in a specific application system, and the project plan instantiation of engine product was realized. Accordingly, the project plan of the engine can be carried out efficiently.

Abstract:To solve the problems of lead time setting and synchronization of parts processing and products assembling for assemble to order products under mass customization,the synchronized production planning method based on Goal Chasing Algorithm(GCA)and Engineering Depth Indication(EDI)was proposed.GCA was used to calculate the products assembling order with the principle of major parts usage equilibrium,and the processing and safety stock number of each workstation was calculated based on the standard operation time and work shift time.The product serial number on each workstation was counted from the last one of the product assembly line added by the safety stock.The above results were depicted on a diagram to obtain the EDI of major parts,and the method was applied to a forklift factory to demonstrate its validity.
