Mathematical Planning and World Image:Critique on Heidegger's Anti-science Thought

Abstract:Heidegger's critique of modern science was one of the most important thought resources of the anti-science movement in the latter half of the 20th century. Heidegger argued that modern science is different from the ancient science by its mathematical planning of things,which was also the essence of the modern metaphysical movement. Mathematical planning had two metaphysical results:reason turned into courtroom,and world became image. Most of Heidegger's critique on science is empty and improper,for example,he argued that Newton's first law lacks experience foundation,and Newtonian kinematics make no progress than Aristotlelian kinematics. He criticized modern science for its lack of thinking,and regarded the development of modern science as the symbol of degeneration of modern thought.
