Abstract:This study presents an approach for the electrochemical oxidation ring‐opening/ cyclization reaction of methylcyclopropane with diselenides/ditellurides, leading to the synthesis of diverse 2‐substituted‐3, 4‐dihydronaphthalene derivatives with exceptional selectivity and efficiency. This methodology involves C(sp3)‐H functionalization, ring opening, and cyclization processes. One characteristic of this method is its ability to accommodate a wide range of substrates with various functional groups.

Abstract:AbstractOrganoselenium‐catalyzed oxidative deoximations afforded ketones and aldehydes under mild conditions. The reactions employ hydrogen peroxide and air as clean oxidants and lead to a waste‐free and metal‐free deprotection protocol for carbonyl protection strategies as well as the green synthesis of ketones and aldehydes. The mechanisms of this interesting organoselenium‐catalyzed reaction have been investigated by control experiments as well as the selenium 77 nuclear magnetic resonance (77Se NMR) tests. This novel reaction largely expands the application scope of organoselenium catalysis.magnified image

Abstract:A relatively green oxidative C═C bond cleavage of alkenes was achieved by organoselenium-catalyzed alkene oxidation reaction in ethanol with hydrogen peroxide, affording carbonyl compounds under relatively mild conditions. It is a new reaction style for the organoselenium-catalyzed oxidation of alkenes and largely contributes to the growing field of organoselenium catalysis.

Abstract:An iodobenzene-catalyzed oxidative cyclization of Michael adducts of activated methylene compounds with nitroolefins or chalcones is developed. mCPBA is used as oxidant together with Bu4NI for the generation of a highly reactive iodine(III) species to mediate the cyclopropanation via a ligand exchange and reductive elimination process. A range of highly functionalized cyclopropanes are synthesized with high diastereoselectivities.

Abstract:The reaction of methylenecyclopropanes with diphenyl diselenide promoted by visible light was investigated and a series of 2,4-diphenylselenyl-1-butenes was prepared under mild conditions. Interestingly, with the addition of oxidant such as dibenzoyl peroxide, 1-(phenylselenyl)cyclobutanols were obtained.

Abstract:The diphenyldiselenide catalyzed oxidation of cyclohexene by hydrogen peroxide led to cyclohexane-1,2-diol with high conversion and selectivity. Compared with traditional metal catalyst, selenium catalysts are cheaper and less harmful to environment. This synthetic method is also clean and highly atom-economic. Therefore, this reaction is highly applicable.

Abstract:An efficient oxidative cyclopropanation of the Michael adducts of nitroolefins with activated methylene compounds by the combination of iodobenzene diacetate and tetrabutylammonium iodide is reported. Highly functionalized nitrocyclopropanes are synthesized in moderate to good yields via the Michael addition and cyclopropanation with high diastereoselectivity and enantioselectivity under mild conditions.

Abstract:An efficient copper-catalyzed regio- and chemoselective multicomponent reaction of 1,6-enynes, diselenides, DABCO center dot(SO2)(2) and cycloketone oxime esters is described. Under mild conditions, this protocol exhibits a broad substrate scope and high functional group compatibility, enabling rapid access to cyanoalkylsulfonylated pyrrolidines in moderate to good yields. This radical-triggered cyclization reaction allows the formation of four new bonds including the C-SO2, C-C and C-Se bonds in a single step. A plausible mechanism is proposed on the basis of control experiments, and a cyanoalkylsulfonyl radical species is involved during the reaction process.
