Abstract:A cobalt and copper catalyzed reaction protocol has been developed to achieve the oxidative C-H/N-H annulation of benzamides containing an 8-aminoquinoline moiety as the directing group with ketones. Abstract:In this study, a modular approach toward cyclic sulfoximines and sulfondiimines via palladium-catalyzed intramolecular C-H/C-C activation reactions was reported. Various 1,2-benzothiazines including bicyclic, tricyclic, highly fused ones, ones of the seven-membered ring, along with 1,2-benzothiazine 1-imines were accessed in good yields. KIE experiment demonstrated that the C-H bond cleavage at the position ortho to the sulfoximine group is not the rate-determining step in the coupling reaction.

Abstract:An interesting approach to functionalized imidazolidines is described. These compounds are obtained in a copper(I)-catalyzed domino three-component coupling and cyclization reaction involving two formaldehyde-derived imine units and a terminal alkyne. Alternatively, imidazolidines can be obtained from propargylamines and formaldehyde-derived imines. This strategy provides a straightforward and atom-economic pathway to construct imidazolidines with high yields and benefits from readily available starting materials, convenient one-pot operations.

Abstract:A selective copper(I)-catalyzed benzylic C(sp3)–H geminal difunctionalization reaction of a benzylic-type sp3 carbon was developed. This novel strategy allowed simultaneous introduction of amide and hydroxyl group in a highly selective and efficient way via successive oxidative intramolecular amidation and hydroxylation. This method was also applied to the synthesis of 3-hydroxy-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-b]quinoxalinones from readily available 3-methyl-N-substituted quinoxaline-2-carboxamides in moderate to good yields. The five-membered cyclic hemiaminal moiety of the pyrrolo[3,4-b]quinoxalinones can serve as an intermediates for subsequent transformations into other useful functional groups.

Abstract:An efficient and straightforward procedure toward the synthesis of amides-substituted 2H-benzopyrans H-benzopyrans has been explored through palladium-catalyzed one-pot aminocarbonylation reaction. By using nitro compounds as attractive nitrogen sources, with Mo(CO)6 6 as both CO source and reductant, a variety of amides-containing 2H- H- benzopyrans were obtained in moderate to high yields with good functional group tolerance. This protocol has advantages including atom-economy, no manipulation of toxic CO gas, and broad substrate scope.

Abstract:We have developed an efficient method for the synthesis of benzimidazoles via cascade reactions of o-haloacetoanilide derivatives with amidine hydrochlorides. The protocol uses 10 mol % CuBr as the catalyst, Cs2CO3 as the base, and DMSO as the solvent, and no ligand is required. The procedure proceeds via the sequential coupling of o-haloacetoanilide derivatives with amidines, hydrolysis of the intermediates (amides), and intramolecular cyclization with the loss of NH3 to give 2-substituted 1H-benzimidazoles.

Abstract:Reported herein is a palladium-catalyzed secondary benzylic imidoylative Negishi reaction leveraging the sterically bulky aromatic isocyanides as the imine source. This method allows the facile access of alkyl-, (hetero)aryl-, and alkynylzinc reagents to afford various α-substituted phenylacetone products under mild acidic hydrolysis, which are ubiquitous motifs in many pharmaceuticals and biologically active compounds. Abstract:A novel and efficient protocol for the synthesis of various 2,4-disubstituted, 1,2,4-trisubstituted and 1,2,4,5-tetra-substituted imidazoles via cascade palladium catalyzed C-C coupling followed by intramolecular C-N bond formation was developed.
