Abstract:A facile and expeditious protocol for the synthesis of difunctionalized indenes from readily available benzimidates and nitroalkenes through rhodium-catalyzed C-H activation and cyclization is reported here. The transformation exhibits powerful reactivity, tolerates a large number of functional groups, and proceeds in moderate to high yields under an ambient atmosphere, providing a straightforward method to access structurally diverse and valuable difunctionalized indene derivatives.

Abstract:A highly effective and straightforward method to construct a wide range of functionalized 2,3-disubstituted indoles has been developed. The method involves the tandem reaction of rhodium(II)-catalyzed denitrogenative annulation of triazole-based benzyl anilines and oxygen-mediated oxidative aromatization. The developed method can also be used to synthesize 2,3-disubstituted benzofurans by replacing the benzyl anilines with benzyl phenols.

Abstract:Two novel rhodium(II)-catalyzed tandem reactions were developed for the synthesis of dihydroisobenzofuran and indanone derivatives from 2-triazole-benzaldehydes and 2-triazole-alkylaryl ketones. Dihydroisobenzofuran derivatives were obtained in good yields with high regioselectivities when alcohols were used as nuclophiles in these reactions, whereas the replacement of the alcohol with water resulted in the diastereoselective formation of highly functionalized indanone derivatives.

Abstract:Tunable catalytic annulation reactions of βalkynyl ketones with indoles have been developed, enabling multiple chemical bond‐forming events to selectively access skeletally diverse indole‐containing heterocycles with generally good yields. Silver‐catalyzed intermolecular benzannulation reaction of β‐alkynyl ketones with indoles afforded tetracyclic benzo[b]carbazoles whereas isochromen‐1‐yl‐substituted indoles could be obtained using the same silver catalysis by lowering the reaction temperature (0 oC or rt). Interestingly, using Sc(OTf)3 and AgOTf as a combined catalytic system led to the formation of C3‐naphthylated indoles via intramolecular benzannulation reaction

Abstract:In organic chemistry, dimerization reactions represent a synthetically powerful strategy for the rapid construction of molecular complexity. This study introduces a copper-catalyzed radical dimerization of 1-alkynylnaphthols, enabling chemo- and diastereoselective synthesis of bridged tetrahydro-benzo[ no ]tetraphenone products. The approach boasts the use of an economical catalyst and a green oxidant under mild conditions. Different heteroaryls, such as indole and thiophene, are well-tolerated in the reaction. Control experiments provided valuable insights, revealing a sequence involving the formation of a C1–radical intermediate, intermolecular (3+2) cyclization, and an unusual intramolecular C4–C8′ coupling.

Abstract:Comprehensive SummaryA rhodium‐catalyzed denitrogenative carbonylation of 1,2,3‐thiadiazole with alkynes to construct (benzo)thiochromenones is developed. Both terminal and internal alkynes were compatible in this [3+2+1] cycloaddition, affording a broad range of poly‐substituted thiochromenones. Unsymmetrical alkyne substrates exhibited good regioselectivity. It is noteworthy that the present strategy could be used to construct both monocyclic and benzo‐thiochromenones, and it is a novel example of denitrogenative transannulation with CO insertion.

Abstract:An efficient synthetic method of tetracyclic 3,4-fused indoles and dihydroindoles via rhodium-catalyzed (3+2) cycloaddition of N-tosyl-4-(2-phenoxyphenyl)-1,2,3-triazole was described. The aromatized xanthene derivatives can be achieved in a one-pot synthesis starting from 1-ethynyl-2-phenoxybenzene. The xanthene-based fused heterocycles were considered as the valuable fluorophore.
