Abstract:Borylation reactions are heavily dependent on diboron agents, whose structures prescribe the reaction conditions. It necessitates extended investigation of borylation reactions using other diboron agents as a boron source than B(2)pin(2). In this work, borylation of unactivated primary and secondary alkyl halides with bis(neopentyl glycolato)diboron (B(2)npg(2)) was investigated, and a favorable catalysis system was constructed for B(2)npg(2)-based borylation reaction after probing a variety of catalysis systems composed of a copper salt, ligand, and base. The investigation showed that this boryl substitution could proceed at room temperature, producing alkylboronates with high yield. This work provides an alternative method to the synthesis of alkylboronate for further Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions.

Abstract:Als neuartiges Beispiel eines Gruppe-XII-Katalysators zur C-X-Borylierung wurde ein katalytisches System basierend auf einer ZnII-NHC-Vorstufe fur die Kreuzkupplung von Alkylhalogeniden mit Diborreagentien entwickelt. Durch diesen Ansatz wurde die Borylierung von nicht-aktivierten primaren, sekundaren und tertiaren Alkylhalogeniden zu Alkylboronaten bei Raumtemperatur erreicht. Die Umsetzungen erfolgen unter milden Bedingungen bei guter Toleranz anderer funktioneller Gruppen. Erste Ergebnisse bezuglich des Reaktionsmechanismus der Borylierungsreaktion deuten auf die Beteiligung von Ein-Elektronen-Prozessen hin.

Abstract:1,2,3-Trisubstituted closo-dodecaborates with B-O, B-N, and B-C bonds as well as a fused borane oxazole ring have been synthesized by rhodium-catalyzed direct cage B-H alkenylation and annulation of ureido boranes in the first reported example of regioselective B-H bond functionalization of the [B12H12](2-) cage by transition-metal catalysis. This reaction proceeded at room temperature under ambient conditions and exhibited excellent selectivity for efficient monoalkenylation with good functional-group tolerance. The urea moiety enabled B-H activation by acting as a directing group, was incorporated in the oxazole ring in situ, and also avoided multiple alkenylation. A possible mechanism is proposed on the basis of the isolation of a rhodium agostic intermediate and control experiments.

Abstract:Easy access: An unprecedented copper-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of the title compounds with diboron reagents is described (see scheme; Ts = 4-toluenesulfonyl). This reaction can be used to prepare both primary and secondary alkylboronic esters having diverse structures and functional groups. The resulting products would be difficult to access by other means.

Abstract:Nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling of unactivated tertiary alkyl electrophiles with alkylmetal reagents is still a challenge. We report herein a nickel-catalyzed Negishi cross-coupling of alkyl halides, including unactivated tertiary halides, with boron-stabilized organozinc reagent BpinCH2ZnI, yielding versatile organoboron products with high functional-group tolerance. Importantly, the Bpin group was found to be indispensable for accessing the quaternary carbon center. The synthetic practicability of the prepared quaternary organoboronates was demonstrated by their conversion to other useful compounds.

Abstract:A new protocol has been developed for the borylation of conjugated alkenyl methyl ethers using B2Pin2 via C–O bond cleavage catalyzed by Ni(II). In this cross-coupling reaction, both E/Z isomers of alkenyl ethers are converted into (E)-alkenyl boronic esters with good reactivity. Abstract:Reported here is the iridium-catalyzed regio- and enantioselective secondary benzylic C–H borylation using benzothiazole as the directing group. Various monosubstituted 2-arylalkylbenzo[ d ]thiazole were well-tolerated, affording the corresponding products in moderate to good yields with good enantioselectivity. The C–B bond in one borylated product could undergo stereospecific transformations to form a series of C–C and C–heteroatom bonds.
