Abstract:The authors wish to correct the following statement in their manuscript: “In summary, two new organic dyes, M1 and M2, containing flexible TPE and rigid PI units were designed and synthesized”. However, M2 is identical to compound 3a reported by Rajneesh Misra et al. in 2014 (Chem. Commun. 2014, 50, 9076). Therefore, the sentence should be corrected as “In summary, two organic dyes, M1 and M2, containing flexible TPE and rigid PI units were synthesized”. In the earlier manuscript, Misra et al. reported the reversible mechanochromic behavior of compound 3a with contrasting colors between sky-blue and yellow-green. This is different to this study, which reported a supra-amplification piezochromic effect of M2 in high-pressure experiments, where M2 displayed higher piezochromic contrast (102 nm) and better sensitivity (11.19 nm GPa−1) than M1 (69 nm and 6.12 nm GPa−1). The two studies are therefore quite different and, thus, the results in this manuscript are still valid. The authors wish to apologize for the error and for any inconvenience caused, as it was not their intention to mislead readers about the novelty of the reported compounds.
