Abstract:Defective product recalling system is characterized as its special function to prevent and eliminate the perils concerning people' s body and property attributed to potential defects of products.It is necessary to define"re- calling defective product"as an obligation,rather than a liability,so as to encourage the producers and sellers to take ef- fective remedies immediately when defects turn out.Disobeying of that obligation which contains two modes will lead to series of liabilities.Considering the economic conditions of China,systematically legislation with respect to defective product recalling system is strongly proposed.

Abstract:Defective product recalling system is a new regime in modern civil law, characterized by its special functions to prevent and eliminate the harms concerning consumers’ body and property due to potential defects of products. In legal nature, it is necessary to define “recalling defective products” as the obligation rather than the liability of manufacturers or sellers, so as to encourage both manufacturers and sellers to take effective remedies immediately upon defective products. Product recalling is of two categories, i.e., active recalling and compulsory recalling, and the breach of such recalling obligation will lead to a series of legal liabilities. Considering the importance of the recalling system and the economic development of China, it is strongly proposed that China shall formulate the Law of Defective Product Recalling.

Abstract:Automobile steering system defects affect the automobile safety, and are important causes of automobile-recall. Risk assessment guidelines were proposed for automobile steering system defects to improve the manage efficiency of automobile recall, based on risk matrix and risk level after analyzed automobile steering system failure forms and their influence. Automobile recall cases caused by steering system defects were analyzed using the risk assessment guidelines. The results show that the defect risk matrix method can identify steering system defects and evaluate the risk level. Therefore, the defect risk assessment guidelines can assess the automobile steering system defects risk and automobile recall, also can be extended to other defects of automobile, and enhance the process of automobile recall.

Abstract:The airbag's flaw will not only cause it to lose protection crew member's function,but also will cause crew member's extra damage in the traffic accident.For absence of the airbag flaw investigation technology,the standard and recall supervisory system in china,we investigated and studied the present situation of airbag recall in the domestic and foreign.The airbag flaw's characteristic of the U.S.Defective Product Management Center to recall was analyzed.Conforming to our country national condition,the airbag flaw determination general procedure was established,and the flaw determination software was compiled.The results may promote the airbag profession standardization and the standardized advancement,thus with every effort protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.

Abstract:This study tests the key factors influencing public engagement in product recall announcements in China. Product recall events can affect firm’s brand equity, and corporate reputation. However, public engagement is a prerequisite step for others. We developed and verified our conceptual arguments on public engagement by analyzing 432 product recalls in the Chinese automobile industry during a five-year period (2010–2014). Empirical results showed that public engagement in product recall announcements was affected by: the number of defective products, recall history, response measures, defective product price, and country of origin. Our results also reveal the difference between domestic and imported products in public engagement in China. Thus, the findings provide cues that could trigger public engagement and potential ways of reducing public engagement in product recalls of firms.

Abstract:Presently,the legislation on the way of recalling defect goods can be summarized as voluntary recall being the principle supplemented by being ordered to recall.The recall of defect goods ordered by administrative bodies must be under the premise that producers should recall but fail to.The way of legislation greatly limits the realization of the recall so it must be corrected.In terms of consumer's right,administrative bodies should simulate consumers and initiate by law the order to recall instead of taking the premise above.Although the 23rd clause of Regulations of the Management of Recalling Defect Goods(Draft) shows to some degree the fiction concept,it still needs correcting.

Abstract:The features of auto recalls caused by braking system defects in China are analyzed on the basis of official authority statistical data on auto recalls in China. This study shows that the braking system defects attributable to hydraulic service brake secondary assembly take the highest proportion among auto recalls caused by braking system defects in China; main vehicles and main auto brands involved are passenger cars and joint-venture brands; the recall times involving domestic vehicles and imported vehicles is about the same, but the quantity of domestic vehicles involving recalls is 3.3 times that of imported vehicles. Though the recall times impacted by DPAC are small, a wider range of influence is produced.

Abstract:Consumer satisfaction towards automobile recall is the drive force and foundation for constant improvement of automobile recall system. The results of questionnaire survey carried out on consumers' shows that nearly 40% of the consumers are satisfied with the procedures and efficiency of the recalls, considering phone call and SMS, especially the former, is the main channel for getting recall event information. Consumer satisfaction towards automobile recall has strong correlation with their comment on driving safety level.

Abstract:There are still many problems on quality and safety of chinese automobile.The defect causes,the manifestations and failure consequences of automotive products are diverse,which leading to the risk and levels of security on larger differences.In this paper failure rate fuzzy fault tree analysis,engine failure and the consequences of classification,the automobile risk assessment techniques and methods are discussed which take motor vehicle engine as an example.The method will be valuable for vehicle safety management and automotive design and manufacturing.

Abstract:Product-harm crises usually lead to product recalls, which would attract extensive public concern on the issue of product defects, but it is not yet clear how product recalls influence customers' risk perceptions and behavior responses. In this study, guided by the protective action decision model (PADM) and the heuristic-systematic model (HSM), and through an empirical study involving 467 participants drawn from the customers of Volkswagen, a conceptual model of information flow was developed, which starts from individuals' product experience, strengthening or weakening through information seeking and processing, then directly acts on the risk perception, and ultimately influences protective actions. By using structural equation modeling to test the model, and the results shown that customers' information need, seeking, and processing are significantly related to risk perception, their behavioral intentions (loyalty or boycott) are also significantly influenced by risk perception and product experience. Next, multiple-group analysis is employed to compare the distinctions between two groups of customers (those whose cars belong to the recall, and those not belonging to the recall). Unexpectedly, the role of information processing in the recall group is weaker than that in the not recalled group. At last, theoretical and practical implications and suggestions for further research are also discussed.

Abstract:Since November 25,2009,Toyota＇s auto recall has been concerned by the public.This incident reflects the fact that relying on auto makers＇ self-consciousness to guarantee the effective auto recall is just not enough.Testing organizations with a neutral position could play a key role,when government,consumers,and auto makers have the disagreements on the safety defects.By comparing auto recall processes between China and Japan,the processes differences,characteristics differences,and roles of testing organizations related to the auto recall,as well as the problems involving neutrality and authority of the testing organizations in China are found.Some recommendations for improving the testing organizations in China have been proposed.

Abstract:Suspension system is a combination of all the devices for connecting vehicle body and axles (wheels), whose main functions are buffering and vibration damping. The characteristics of suspension can directly influence the drivability and comfort of vehicle. In 2014, the recall event of a VW car type happening in China raised the society's concern over suspension safety. Based on the recall data collected from both China and the US, this paper analyzes the similarities and differences between typical defects in Chinese and American suspension systems by comparing 11 typical defects in American suspension systems and 3 typical defects in Chinese suspension systems.

Abstract:Supply chain quality management (SCQM) has been viewed as a critical method for a manufacturer's management of product recalls. This study aims to empirically investigate the impact of SCQM practices on product recall capability using a sensemaking perspective. We adopt a multi-method approach by combining case study and quantitative survey methods. This study selects three manufacturers from the food, automobile and pharmaceutical industries to conduct an exploratory case study. The findings reveal that product recall capability includes tracking and traceability and formal process, and the manufacturers use quality management teamwork, supplier qualification and supplier involvement as the key SCQM practices. A conceptual framework of the relationships between SCQM practices and product recall capability is developed based on the findings of the case study. The hypotheses are empirically tested using structural equation modelling, bootstrapping method and data collected from 400 manufacturers in China. We find that quality management teamwork and supplier qualification are positively associated with product recall capability. Quality management teamwork is positively associated with supplier qualification and involvement. In addition, supplier qualification partially mediates the effect of quality management teamwork and fully mediates the effect of supplier involvement on product recall capability.
