Abstract:The features of auto recalls caused by braking system defects in China are analyzed on the basis of official authority statistical data on auto recalls in China. This study shows that the braking system defects attributable to hydraulic service brake secondary assembly take the highest proportion among auto recalls caused by braking system defects in China; main vehicles and main auto brands involved are passenger cars and joint-venture brands; the recall times involving domestic vehicles and imported vehicles is about the same, but the quantity of domestic vehicles involving recalls is 3.3 times that of imported vehicles. Though the recall times impacted by DPAC are small, a wider range of influence is produced.

Abstract:Since November 25,2009,Toyota＇s auto recall has been concerned by the public.This incident reflects the fact that relying on auto makers＇ self-consciousness to guarantee the effective auto recall is just not enough.Testing organizations with a neutral position could play a key role,when government,consumers,and auto makers have the disagreements on the safety defects.By comparing auto recall processes between China and Japan,the processes differences,characteristics differences,and roles of testing organizations related to the auto recall,as well as the problems involving neutrality and authority of the testing organizations in China are found.Some recommendations for improving the testing organizations in China have been proposed.

Abstract:The airbag's flaw will not only cause it to lose protection crew member's function,but also will cause crew member's extra damage in the traffic accident.For absence of the airbag flaw investigation technology,the standard and recall supervisory system in china,we investigated and studied the present situation of airbag recall in the domestic and foreign.The airbag flaw's characteristic of the U.S.Defective Product Management Center to recall was analyzed.Conforming to our country national condition,the airbag flaw determination general procedure was established,and the flaw determination software was compiled.The results may promote the airbag profession standardization and the standardized advancement,thus with every effort protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.

Abstract:Auto recall system is a major institutional design to eliminate defective cars and guarantee product safety. Technology innovation is an important means for enterprises to improve safety of vehicles. The establishment of auto recall system exerts a profound impact on technology innovations. Based on questionnaire survey of automobile industry, this paper uses structural equation model to make an empirical research on the effects of auto recall system on technology innovations of China's automobile industry. Research results demonstrate that the design and implementation of auto recall system have a significant positive effect on product innovation performance of automobile enterprises, and government regulation uses system design and implementation to affect product innovations. Meanwhile, auto recall system implementation and government regulation have a significant positive effect on process innovation performance of automobile enterprises, while auto recall system design has no direct and significant effect.

Abstract:Automobile steering system defects affect the automobile safety, and are important causes of automobile-recall. Risk assessment guidelines were proposed for automobile steering system defects to improve the manage efficiency of automobile recall, based on risk matrix and risk level after analyzed automobile steering system failure forms and their influence. Automobile recall cases caused by steering system defects were analyzed using the risk assessment guidelines. The results show that the defect risk matrix method can identify steering system defects and evaluate the risk level. Therefore, the defect risk assessment guidelines can assess the automobile steering system defects risk and automobile recall, also can be extended to other defects of automobile, and enhance the process of automobile recall.
An Empirical Study on Consumer Satisfaction towards Automobile Recall in China

Abstract:Consumer satisfaction towards automobile recall is the drive force and foundation for constant improvement of automobile recall system. The results of questionnaire survey carried out on consumers' shows that nearly 40% of the consumers are satisfied with the procedures and efficiency of the recalls, considering phone call and SMS, especially the former, is the main channel for getting recall event information. Consumer satisfaction towards automobile recall has strong correlation with their comment on driving safety level.

The recall number, recall subject, recall categories, reasons of drug recall, platform construction of recall information and other aspects were analyzed through statistical analysis of the drug recall data and information from 2007 to 2014, in order to indicate the characteristics of drug recall in China and America in recent years and reflect the current problems of Chinese drug recall. Results and Conclusion In order to improve the operability of drug recall, it is suggested to consummate the recall system of drugs in China through the relevant measures.

Abstract:Suspension system is a combination of all the devices for connecting vehicle body and axles (wheels), whose main functions are buffering and vibration damping. The characteristics of suspension can directly influence the drivability and comfort of vehicle. In 2014, the recall event of a VW car type happening in China raised the society's concern over suspension safety. Based on the recall data collected from both China and the US, this paper analyzes the similarities and differences between typical defects in Chinese and American suspension systems by comparing 11 typical defects in American suspension systems and 3 typical defects in Chinese suspension systems.

Abstract:While the concept of remanufacturing is gaining popularity in practice, its effect on environmental protection and energy saving is significant, which has attracted widespread concerns, especially in the automotive components field. Automotive components remanufacturing (ACR), as a prominent part in automotive life-cycle development, can dramatically reduce resources-waste and mitigate energy-crisis, which has become a prominent direction to promote sustainable development of Chinese economy. Thus, influence factors analysis and enterprise operation patterns assessment which primarily contribute to ACR industry development are of paramount importance. This paper elaborates the criteria influencing the ACR industry operation and analyzes the main operation patterns for ACR in China. To overcome the uncertainty of the evaluation process, a new hybrid multi-criterion decision-making (MCDM) model that combines fuzzy AHP (analytical hierarchy process) and fuzzy G-TOPSIS (combining gray relation analysis and technique for order performance by similarity to ideal solution) is proposed to determine weights of influence criteria and evaluate ACR production operation patterns. In addition, sensitivity analysis is applied to monitor the robustness of the method. The study refers to the experience of Chinese end-of life vehicle (ELV) laws and implementation requirements of extended producer responsibility (EPR). The obtained results provide the new guideline to revise the regulations of Chinese ACR industry. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Children's safety seat or named child restraint system (CRS) can effectively reduce the casualty rate of the children in traffic accidents without misuses and defects. The authors made questionnaire survey on the use of CRSs in China, investigated the assessment system of ease of use, and comparatively analyzed the situation of usage rate and the misuse, the assessment system of ease of use and the recall data for CRSs in 2010-2017 in China and the US. The results show that the usage rate of CRSs in five large cities in China accounts for only 20.9%, which is far lower than that of the US, and the users' misuse rate in China is over 80%, which is also higher than that in the US. The assessment method of ease of use of CRSs in China is suitable for the market and the users’ habits in China. The number of recalled defect CRSs in the US is far greater than that in China, and the recall supervisions of defect CRSs are more severe than that in China. Therefore, the authors proposed some suggestions that Chinese government should strengthen the legislation and the customer propagation for CRSs, while whole CRS industry should complete the assessment of ease of use and strengthen the supervisions for defect CRS product recall to improve the product quality and to protect the safety of children in vehicles.

Abstract:Compared with the recycling of scrapped automobile materials, the remanufacturing is a circular economy model with higher comprehensive benefits. However, the current development of China's scrapped automobiles remanufacturing industry is facing the bottleneck challenge of relatively low recycling rate of scrapped automobiles. By reviewing more than one-hundred peer-reviewed related papers, we identify the current challenges faced by China's scrapped automobiles recycling for remanufacturing and contribute to three aspects. First, through comparative research, we found that China's legislation on scrapped automobiles recycling can be divided into three categories, but the system is unclear. Second, the dynamic evolutionary perspective reveals that the research on the recycling model of scrapped automobiles present characteristics of integration, and these models can be classified into two categories and seven types. Third, we propose a method system to promote the recycling of scraped automobiles according to the evolution of value and the change of core driving force, and summarizes six key recycling methods, but the implementation of some methods faces challenges such as information barriers. This work reveals the factors at both the micro and macro level of automobile recycling for remanufacturing, which can help researchers to create a framework for empirical studies.

Abstract:The architecture of ergonomics simulation and evaluation for the automobile was described. Ergonomics analysis and evaluation is one of the most important processes in product design at present. This ergonomics simulation system based on the elements of ergonomics analysis and evaluation can provide an excellent solution to take human element into account earlier in the design phase and make proactive choices in automobile design than those traditional methods. Thinking of the characteristics of the automobile industry, this system adopted the anatomy-based and parameterized human model for Chinese, the simulation technique using motion editing and the mathematical models of ergonomics to solve real ergonomic design problems in the design phases.

Abstract:In the process of using cars, due to various reasons, it is inevitable to break down, which changes the power performance, economy, handling stability, ride comfort, use safety and so on. Automobiles have a specific service life after use, and it is easy to break down during long-distance transportation, so automobile maintenance has become a hot industry. The modern automobile technology is changing with each passing day, and the fault detection and diagnosis technology is constantly innovating. Only by mastering the modern automobile data flow fault diagnosis technology can the maintenance technicians eliminate various increasingly complex and changeable automobile faults with high efficiency and low cost. Based on the concept of intelligent decision support system, this paper studies its application in automobile maintenance fault diagnosis. At the same time, based on SWOT analysis, this paper discusses the disadvantages of Chinese automobile enterprises, and puts forward some countermeasures to strive to be invincible in the future international competition.

Using the American NHTSA large data which include complaints data, defects data and recall data, there will be analyzed the amount of complaints and the attributions of defects by severity are influenced factors of recall. Next the recall will be forecast by the information of complaints, crash, fire, injured and fatality. It will be opened by the quantitative forecast for recall of automotive, and it is a potent means for the government's decision of car recalls.

Abstract:Product-harm crises usually lead to product recalls, which would attract extensive public concern on the issue of product defects, but it is not yet clear how product recalls influence customers' risk perceptions and behavior responses. In this study, guided by the protective action decision model (PADM) and the heuristic-systematic model (HSM), and through an empirical study involving 467 participants drawn from the customers of Volkswagen, a conceptual model of information flow was developed, which starts from individuals' product experience, strengthening or weakening through information seeking and processing, then directly acts on the risk perception, and ultimately influences protective actions. By using structural equation modeling to test the model, and the results shown that customers' information need, seeking, and processing are significantly related to risk perception, their behavioral intentions (loyalty or boycott) are also significantly influenced by risk perception and product experience. Next, multiple-group analysis is employed to compare the distinctions between two groups of customers (those whose cars belong to the recall, and those not belonging to the recall). Unexpectedly, the role of information processing in the recall group is weaker than that in the not recalled group. At last, theoretical and practical implications and suggestions for further research are also discussed.
