Abstract:With the co-efforts from Zhejiang University,Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Xidian Universi-ty,a transmission scheme of the Advanced Digital Television Broadcasting System(ADTB)is presented in this paper.The simulated system functions and performance are superior to that of international DTV transmission standards.A stable fixed,portable and even mobile reception of large volume broadcasting data can be attained with a consumer grade tuner and various modulation modes.The scheme is also designed to support SFN and on-channel repeater functions,to incorporate efficient digital cable transmission modes,and to be easily compatible with some foreign standards.The presented scheme is one of the ideal candidates of DTV broadcasting standards being defined in our country.[

Abstract:A project of access solution of active optical network is constructed based on SDH,equipment,protocol converters and telephone terminals.By simplifying the functions and configuring the network management system of the SDH equipments,the IP transmission and voice communication have been achieved.The system which completes bidirectional voice communication and image transmission can reduce equipments complexity and resource waste when SDH is used in the access network.

Abstract:This paper presents the architectures, algorithms, and implementation considerations of an efficient all digital DS-CDMA transceiver used for upstream burst-mode packet transmission in an Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) Network, which aims to support integrated services. The transmitter is frequency agile and it supports fine adjustment of signal power and chip delay, which are reserved for MAC ranging in the initialization process. The receiver has corresponding Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) unit as well as frequency offset and chip delay estimation module. To achieve fast acquisition, the receiver employs a parallel correlation FIR filter architecture, and the resultant hardware complexity of the correlator can be reduced by optimizing the structure. Field trials show it can work under a CNR as low as -12 db, and the acquisition can be achieved within 2 data bytes. The architecture is very suited for ASIC design

Abstract:The paper introduces the EPON-based retrofit solution for the existing HFC network from unidirectional network to bidirectional network.At present,most CATV networks in China have not completed in the bidirectional transformation.Therefore,these networks can simply satisfy the transmission of broadcast and TV programs,they can neither carry multi-media interactive services,nor realize the management on networks,services or users.The combination of EPON-based LAN access and Cable access modes can retain the investment in the existing cable TV HFC network to the extreme,and push the existing network structure dominated in unidirectional transmission to evolve towards the bidirectional wideband data network of multi-service carrying capability,which helps the broadcast and TV operators realize the successful strategic transformation.

Abstract:We experimentally demonstrate uncompressed high-definition (HD) video distribution at 84 GHz Radio over Fiber link achieving up to 3 meters of wireless transmission. We experimentally emulate Metro-Access architecture by deploying single/multimode fibers. Passive and active approaches for remote antenna unit (RAU) are experimentally investigated. The bit error rate (BER) performance of the optical and wireless channels is reported. A successful transmission of uncompressed HD video in the W-band wireless channel is demonstrated with prospects to pave the way for application-focused fiber-wireless connectivity supported by diverse optical fiber distribution infrastructure.

Abstract:HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) provides a kind of broadband access way for multimedia and broadband services. The structure and the spectrum allocation scheme of HFC are described. The MAC layer and PHY layer of dual-direction HFC network are analyzed in detail. The upstream channel allocation scheme in MAC and the scenario of PHY in DOCSIS (Data-Over-Cable Service Interface Specification) are presented. Finally, The software and hardware designs of CM (Cable Modem) and CMTS (Cable Modem Terminal System) conforming to DOCSIS are given.

Abstract:The FD communication technique has been recently proposed as a new paradigm to increase the spectral efficiency of wireless systems. In this article, we investigate the application of FD communications to ultra-dense heterogeneous networks where small base stations can work in the FD mode. In such networks, it is a challenging task to coordinate various kinds of interference caused by FD communications, including self-interference, intra-cell and inter-cell uplink-to-downlink interference. To deal with it, we have developed a novel ICIC scheme, which consists of four steps: base station association, user pairing and mode selection, power control, and resource block allocation. The implementation issue of the proposed scheme is also discussed. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed ICIC scheme can effectively harvest the FD gain for ultra-dense heterogeneous networks. Finally, several important future directions and open challenges are identified in this article.

Abstract:HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coaxial) is a key access network, it has the special tree-and-branch topology. The most key issues in MAC (Medium Access Control) protocol design of the HFC network are focused on how to resolve the collision efficiently, how to improve the bandwidth utility, how to lower the access time delay while using upstream channels. This paper theoretically analyze the main factors that affect these performances of a MAC protocol based on most popular designs. Also we study the performance of DOCSIS v1.0 MAC protocol through simulation. The test results approve our analysis well. This paper can give us some guidance in our further exploration of HFC access technology.

Abstract:Abstract With the rapid development of the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing and other industries, the data center network, as the core infrastructure of the computing industry, is becoming increasingly important. Wireless communication technology is developing rapidly. This paper uses visible light wireless communication technology to build a wireless data center network, solving the problems of complex wiring and expansion difficulties in the existing data center network. Aiming at the problems of insufficient spectrum, low bandwidth utilization and large energy consumption in the existing wireless data center, this paper adopts the visible light wireless communication technology based on LED, and proposes a new wireless data center network structure HCDCN. Firstly, work have been done to analyze the feasibility of introducing data centers in this technology, and transform server racks in combination with the characteristics of the technology. Secondly, the construction process of the structure is introduced and a new coding rule is proposed. In order to increase the routing efficiency and fault tolerance, the rack top link routing path is added, and an efficient routing algorithm is designed. Finally, the aggregate throughput of HCDCN under different scales is obtained through experiments, and the network performance of HCDCN structure is compared with that of OWCells and Mesh structure. Experiments have proved that HCDCN's network performance is better than the other two structures under the same conditions. The new wireless data center network proposed in this paper has largely alleviated the bandwidth shortage of hotspot servers.

Abstract:We propose a traffic-aware and cooperative approach to achieve energy-saving in Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) networks that support DOCSIS 3.0 standard. The approach incorporates a two-step operation that consists of two algorithms, one for the Cable Modem (CM) side and the other for the Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) side. To avoid transition overheads, we design both algorithms with the consideration of energy-to-NoC (Number of Changes) tradeoff and try to minimize the number of Dynamic Bonding Change (DBC) operations while saving the energy. Simulations verify the effectiveness of the algorithms by using a realistic HFC network traffic model, and the results demonstrate significant saving on the ON-time (energy consumption) of the CMs' channels and the CMTS' ports.

Abstract:Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) networks support broadband Internet access with the existing cable TV systems. Recent advances on HFC networks have demonstrated effective improvements on the customers' access speeds with the channel-bonding technology. In this paper, we develop a novel energy-efficient traffic scheduling algorithm for the HFC networks that support channel bonding. The proposed algorithm is compliant with the newly-released DOCSIS 3.0 standard.We come up with a system model of the channel-bonding transmitters (TXs) on a Cable Modem (CM), and then define several operation modes for them. At the beginning of each scheduling cycle, the proposed algorithm adjusts the TXs' operation modes based on the traffic status. Both analytical analysis and numerical simulations are then developed to investigate the energy-saving and delay introduced by the algorithm. The results on energy-saving indicate that the energy-consumption of the TXs scales almost linearly with the input traffic load and effective energy-saving can be achieved. We also investigate the tradeoff between the energy-saving and the average delay to optimize the parameters for the energy-efficient scheduling, and to make sure that the traffic will not experience significant delay increase due to the energy-saving operations.

Abstract:We experimentally demonstrate key technologies to further explore the converged benefits of the optical and wireless systems to offer wireless high-definition (HD) services for both fixed and mobile users. These technologies include spectrum-efficient multi-band generation and dispersion-tolerant transmission, and transport feasibility study for flexible optical routing using multiple reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADMs). Using the developed system, we successfully implement the testbed trial on the delivery of uncompressed 270-Mb/s SDTV and 1.485-Gb/s HDTV video signals over optical fiber and air links.

Abstract:Hybrid digital-analog (HDA) transmission is becoming an attractive solution for mobile video delivery because it not only has graceful degradation with channel variations but also yields high power efficiency. However, the heavy bandwidth demand of analog transmission is still an unsolved problem, limiting the received video quality when the bandwidth is not sufficient. To address this problem, we propose adopting Shannon-Kotel'nikov (SK) mapping for HDA video transmission and design an HDA scheme called SK-Cast. SK-Cast consists of a digital and an analog branch. In the digital branch, SK-Cast compresses the video sequence using an high efficiency video coding digital encoder to produce a base layer. The base layer is transmitted through digital methods with strong protection. The residual signals are then decorrelated using three-dimensional discrete cosine transform transform. The SK mapping is exploited to transmit these coefficients, as they can achieve efficient bandwidth compression. We address the resource allocation problems in SK-Cast, including the allocation between digital and analog branches and the allocation among analog symbols. The simulation results show that the SK-Cast outperforms the state-of-the-art HDA systems, including WSVC and Sharp-Cast, and a digital scalable video coding system.

Abstract:Traditional special channel data transmission is realized with point to point mode via Modem. A digital transparent transmission timeslot multiplexer is developed to reduce intermediate ADCs and DACs,which is composed of RS-232 module,E1 module and network management module. It converts RS-232 signal into E1 signal using level matching technology and transmits site data directly via digital data network using HDB3 encoding technology,which improves channel stability,reduces error code rate and simplifies automation equipment commissioning.
