Abstract:Benzofuran neolignan compounds were synthesized via Knoevenagel reaction,esterification and oxidative coupling from aromatic aldehyde and malonic acid.Two ferrocenyl neolignans were obtained by the reaction of benzofuran neolignan compounds with ferrocenecarboxylic acid.Their structures were characterized by1H NMR,MS and IR.

Abstract:Two novel ester ferrocenophanes have been prepared by esterification of 1,1′-ferrocenedi(carbonyl chloride) with glycol and 1,4-butanediol, respectively. Both of them have been characterized by IR, elemental analysis, MALDI-TOF MS and 1H NMR spectroscopic methods, and their structures have been elucidated by X-ray diffraction. The intermolecular associations based on C-H···O hydrogen bonds have also been discussed. These molecules are assembled into chains, and the chains are further assembled into a 3D structure through several hydrogen bonds.

Abstract:Six novel dihydrobenzofuran and benzofuran neolignans compounds(1～6) were synthesized by knoevenagel reactiton,esterfication,biomimetic oxidative coupling,DDQ dehydrogenation,reduction and hydrolysis with 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde and malonic acid as starting material.The Ag2O-Catalyzed biomimetic oxidative coupling of methyl 4-hydroxy cinnamate into its dimmer(1) and DDQ dehydregenation reaction were the key steps of the synthetic route.DDQ dehydrogenation reaction made the transformation from dihydrobenzofuran to benzofuran ring structure succesfully.This offered a new method to synthesize benzofuran neolignans compounds.

Abstract:A series of 10 related benzofuran neolignan derivatives were obtained by utilising a biomimetic reaction sequence involving oxidative dimerisation of methyl ferulate, followed by derivatisation reactions. The structures of the new compounds were confirmed by 1H NMR, elemental analysis, MS and IR. All compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic potential against five human cancer cell lines (HL-60, SMMC-7721, A-549, SK-BR-3 and PAN-1) by the standard MTT method. The results showed that most of them exhibit potent cytotoxicity.

Abstract:Some novel ester ferrocenophanes have been synthesized by esterification of 1,1'-ferrocene-di(carbonyl chloride) with some diols under very dilute conditions and characterized by infrared (IR), elemental analysis, mass spectra (MS), and 1H NMR. Suitable crystal of ester ferrocenophane b was obtained, and its crystal structure was determined by x-ray single-crystal diffraction.

Abstract:Benzofurans compound 2-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)-3-methoxy carbonyl-5-methoxy carbonyl vinyl-7-hydroxy-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran (1)and benzodioxanes compound 2-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)-3-me-thoxy carbonyl-6-methoxy carbonyl vinyl-2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxane (2)were synthesized from caffeic acid through esterification and biomimetic oxidative coupling reactions.Moreover,a series of benzofuran-neolignan compounds 3~7 and benzodioxaneneolignan compounds 8~10 were synthesized from compounds 1 and 2 respectively through acetylation,DDQ oxydehydrogenation,Pd/C catalytic hydrogenation,lithium aluminium hydride reduction and deacetylation in alkaline condition.All of these synthesized compounds were confirmed with MS,IR,1 H NMR and 13 C NMR spectra.Among them,5~7,9 and 10 are new com-pounds.8 is the natural product isoamericanol A.The biological activities of benzofuranneolignan com-pounds 1 ,3~5 against five human cancer cell lines were evaluated in the standard MTT method,and the results have shown that compounds1,3,4 and 5 exhibit good inhibitory effect on leukemia cells (HL-60), lung carcinoma cell (A-549),breast cancer cell (MCF-7),colon cancer cell (SW-480),and hepatoma car-cinoma cell (SMMC-7 7 2 1 ).

Abstract:Eleven 8-5' neolignan compounds 3a similar to 9b have been synthesized via reactions of dihydrobenzofuran compounds I and 2 with dry K2CO3 or 10% NaOH (aq.) under distinct conditions. 1a and 1b were synthesized from methyl 4-hydroxy cinnamate and methyl ferulate respectively by Ag2O-catalyzed biomimetic oxidative coupling reaction while 2a and 2b were obtained through methylation of la and 1b, respectively. Synthesis of compounds 3a similar to 9b not only achieved transformation successfully from dihydrobenzofuran neolignans to 8-5' neolignans, but also offered a new method for the synthesis of stilbenoids. The effect of 8-electron-withdrawing substituents such as COOCH3 group made transformation smoothly from dihydrobenzofuren neolignans to 8-5' neolignan compounds. All of these synthesized compounds have been confirmed by MS, IR, H-1 NMR and C-13 NMR techniques.

Abstract:A series of novel 2-ferrocenyl-6-substituted-4H-pyrazolo[5,1-c][1,4]oxazin-4-one derivatives were synthesized by the intra-esterification reaction of ethyl 1-(2-aryl-2-oxoethyl)-3-ferrocenyl-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylate in the presence of magnesium bromide and diisopropylethylamine in one-pot procedure. Abstract:The natural benzodihydrofuran neolignans licarin A (1) was synthesized from isoeugenol through biomimetic oxidative coupling. Then licarin A (1) was transformed into another benzodihydrofuran compound 2-(3'-methoxy-4'-hydroxy)phenyl-3-methyl-5-formylvinyl-7-methoxy-2,3-benzodihydrofuran (2) through 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ) oxidative reaction. Based on Mannich reaction of 1 or 2 with viarious secondary amines and formaldehyde in acidic alcohol system under microwave-assistanced, eleven new benzodihydrofuran neolignan Mannich base derivatives 3 similar to 13 were synthesized. All the synthetic compounds were tested for antiproliferation activity against human cervical carcinoma Hela cells by the standard CCK-8 method. The results showed that most of the target compounds exhibited moderate to potent antiproliferation activity against Heala cells. Among them, compound 2 (IC(50)0.438 mu mol/L) and compound 9 (IC(50)8.358 mu mol/L) displayed the strongest antiproliferation activity against Hela cells.

Abstract:A series of novel 5-alkyl-2-ferrocenyl-6,7-dihydropyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrazin-4(5H)-one derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of ethyl 1-(2-bromoethyl)-3-ferrocenyl-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylate with non-aromatic primary amines in one-pot procedure and characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, HRMS and X-ray diffraction analysis. The effects of all the compounds on A549 cell growth were investigated. The results showed that all compounds had almost inhibitory effects on the growth of A549 cells.

Abstract:We replaced the benzoyl moiety by ferrocenoyl in benzoylphenylurea, and synthesized a series of new benzoylphenylureas containing a ferrocenyl moiety by the reaction of carbamylferrocene with phenylisocyanate in good yields. The title compounds were identified by IR, H-1 NMR spectroscopy, electron-impact mass spectrometry and elemental analyses. The crystal structure of 1-ferrocenoyl-3phenylurea was determined. Abstract:ABSTRACT Erythro-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-2-(4-formyl-2-methoxy-phenoxy)-propane-1,3-diol, a 8-O-4′ norneolignan, has been stereoselectively synthesized in eight steps from ferulic acid. In this new route to prepare erythro 8-O-4′ neolignans the cis addition of mCPBA to a double bond with high regioselectivity was a key step, and its mechanism is discussed.

Abstract:Eleven new ferrocenyl Schiff bases containing a benzene ring and C=N in a conjugating chain have been synthesized by facile methods and characterized by H-1 NMR, elemental analysis and fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry. Cyclic voltammetry was used to determine their electrochemical properties and electron-withdrawing effects. It is shown that these pull-push ferrocenyl compounds have nonlinear optical responses according to their electronic absorption spectra and powder second harmonic generation measurements. Abstract:A new synthetic method is designed for a ferrocenyl derivative, 1,3,5-tris(ferrocenylethenyl)benzene, which has been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, H-1 NMR and MS. Furthermore, its electrochemical properties have been investigated using cyclic voltammetry method. The two-photon absorption of the compound was measured using the Z-scan technique at 532 nm. The results indicate that the compound has good electrochemical properties and strong NLO effects.
