Abstract:Objective To evaluate photopic and mesopic color discrimination in patients with different types of light-filtering intraocular lenses (IOLs). Methods A total of 42 age related cataract patients (59 eyes) were divided into three groups randomly. Each group was implanted with Matrix Acrylic 400 IOLs (25 eyes) or Acrysof Natural SN60AT IOLs (12 eyes) or Matrix Acrylic 401 IOLs (22 eyes) respectively. The logMAR vision was evaluated in photopic and scopotia conditions, the color discrimination were evaluated in photopic and mesopic conditions at 3 months after operation respectively. Results There were no significant differences in the distance visual acuity, corrected distance visual acuity and logMAR vision of all patients in photopic condition. The logMAR vision of SN60AT IOLs group were lower than the other two groups in scotopic 5% contrast condition (P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in error scores in the 10 bands of the FM 100-hue color circle in photopic conditions among three groups. In mesopic condition, there were statistically significant differences in error scores in the green to blue-green band, the blue-green to blue band, and the blue to blue-violet band between yellow IOL group and the other two groups (P<0.05).Conclusions In photopic and mesopic conditions, there is no influence on color discrimination in patients with the Matrix Acrylic 400 IOL.
