Abstract:Based on the widely used air-hydraulic brake system,an exam scheme was put forward,which eliminated all kinds of disadvantageous factors.On a loader with this brake system,contrast experiments were carried out.Experimental results showed that the air-hydraulic brake system was a strong overdamped system.All kinds of damping holes prolonged the response time of this system and should be eliminated possibly.To reduce the damping ratio,the length of the conduits should be reduced and the inside diameter should be enlarged.The brake fluid with big Young's modulus should be used and must be degased and dehumidified.Enlarging the return spring constant of the brake cylinder could reduce the damping ratio and increase the natural vibration frequency,thereby the brake performance was improved.However,the tightening of the return spring may reduce the brake power effectively.

Abstract:The working principle and main fault of mine hoist disc brake are introduced in this paper,and the current research status of corresponding fault diagnosis is summarized.Based on the review of the monitoring methods of seven important parameters including brake pressure,brake pad wear,spring performance,brake torque,offset swing,blockage piston in cylinder and empty dynamic time,the further improvement of on-line monitoring methods for disc brake systems is also discussed.

Abstract:This study aims to investigate the hysteresis characteristics of a pneumatic braking system for multi-axle heavy vehicles (MHVs). Hysteresis affects emergency braking performance severely. The fact that MHVs have a large size and complex structure leads to more nonlinear coupling property of the pneumatic braking system compared to normal two-axle vehicles. Thus, theoretical analysis and simulation are not enough when studying hysteresis. In this article, the hysteresis of a pneumatic brake system for an eight-axle vehicle in an emergency braking situation is studied based on a novel test bench. A servo drive device is applied to simulate the driver's braking intensions normally expressed by opening or moving speed of the brake pedal. With a reasonable arrangement of sensors and the NI LabVIEW platform, both the delay time of eight loops and the response time of each subassembly in a single loop are detected in real time. The outcomes of the experiment show that the delay time of each loop gets longer with the increase of pedal opening, and a quadratic relationship exists between them. Based on this, the pressure transient in the system is fitted to a first-order plus time delay model. Besides, the response time of treadle valve and controlling pipeline accounts for more than 80% of the loop's total delay time, indicating that these two subassemblies are the main contributors to the hysteresis effect.

Abstract:The development of a novel electrohydraulic brake system named REHB is presented in this paper. Neither high-pressure accumulator nor linear valves are adopted to reduce the system cost, the difficulty of manufacturing, assembling, and the risk of leakage. Stroke simulators are implemented to elevate the quality of pedal feel. The braking force blending control strategy is well designed to coordinate regenerative and friction brake force, which has ensured maximized regenerative brake force. In the aspect of underlying control, current amplitude modulation control is adopted to improve the accuracy of hydraulic pressure modulation and eliminate vibration noise. High fidelity models of vehicle and brake system are built based on MATLAB-AMESim co-simulation platform. Three demand levels of one-step-brake scenarios are simulated. Simulation results show the reasonability of proposed hydraulic structure and designed control strategy. A regenerative brake test bench is set up based on a prototype of the developed system. Three identical one-step-brake experiments are conducted on the test bench. According to the bench test results, the blending of regenerative and friction brake force tracks driver brake demand adequately well. Regenerative efficiencies are calculated as 46.32%, 43.93%, and 31.88%, respectively, in three bench tests. Compared with the previous generation, no obvious valve buzzing noise is observed, and jerks are whittled significantly. REHB has provided a brake-by-wire solution of safety, high energy recuperation efficiency with low cost, and uncompromising performance.

Abstract:Compared to the current eddy braking patterns using a single magnetic source, hybrid excitation rail eddy brakes have many advantages, such as controllability, energy saving, and various operating models. Considering the large braking power consumption of the high-speed train, a hybrid excitation rail eddy brake system, which is based on the principle of electromagnetic field, is proposed to fulfill the needs of safety and reliability. Then the working processes of the mechanical lifting system and electromagnetic system are demonstrated. With the electromagnetic system analyzed using the finite element method, the factors such as speed, air gap, and exciting current have influences on the braking force and attractive force. At last, the structure optimization of the brake system is discussed.

Abstract:Taking E141A constant deceleration braking system in JKMD 4.5 × 4 mine hoist as research object,working principle of the constant deceleration braking system was analyzed.A simulation model of the constant deceleration braking system was built and reliability of the simulation model was verified by theoretical calculation.Typical faults such as spring stiffness decrease,friction factor of brake shoe decrease and brake leakage were simulated.The simulation results show that performance degradation of main components cannot immediately cause failure of the braking system,but can cause system performance degradation such as braking system pressure degradation,braker clearance smaller or bigger,etc.The braking system performance degradation with a certain degree will cause faults such as unsatisfactory braking deceleration,no braker clearance,too large braker clearance,too long idle motion time,etc.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel electro-hydraulic braking system of low-floor vehicle is developed. Theoretical models of the three-way proportional pressure reducing screw-in cartridge valve and electro-hydraulic braking system are obtained. A system design criterion is established based on the analysis of the three-way proportional pressure reducing screw-in cartridge valve. A switched adaptive fuzzy proportional–differential–integral controller is proposed to reduce the effect of change in the reference input. The performances of the proposed controller are compared with the adaptive fuzzy proportional–differential–integral controller and conventional proportional–differential–integral controller. Numerical simulation and experimental test are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the models and the proposed controller.

Abstract:It is important to hold theoretical and engineering discussions on the analysis and optimization of the brake control method.First,we calculate the equivalent inertia,compensatory inertia,and drive current by using the model of differential equation respectively.Second,we propose the relative error analysis model of error appraisal of brake test bench.And we establish the computer control model of drive current value which changes with time.Finally,we give the optimization of the computer control method.The results show that we resolve the problem of control method of the brake test bench.

Abstract:This paper deals with the development and validation of an analytical dynamic model of an air-over-hydraulic (AOH) brake system that is widely used on loaders. The AOH system is broken into five simple and cascaded subsystems, pneumatic circuit, air-hydraulic actuator, brake line, wheel cylinder, and disk brake. Pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical dynamics are taken care of in each subsystem. The determination of model coefficients is introduced in detail. Many experiments are performed on an experimental setup of the real AOH system on a loader and the experimental data are compared with the simulation results. Preliminary analysis shows that the simulation results are in good agreement with the experimental data. Other researchers in the areas of brake systems in construction machinery would find the model useful for similar system modeling and analysis

Abstract:In order to improve the efficiency of industrial sewing machine system based on brushless dc motor control,simplified brake method and simplify the brake method,this paper put forward a new kind of reversing lock brake parking control method about the brushless dc motor control industrial sewing machine system.This method analyzed from the two aspects of speed and braking,PI speed control method is used,detecting needle position signal for reversing locking brake,and demonstrated the feasibility of this control method in theory.Finally,presents a practical control rendering.Practice proves that the method has achieved good effect,met the control requirements of the industrial sewing machine system and improves the dynamic performance of the system.

Abstract:The automatic driving technology of vehicle is being carried out in real road environment, however, the application of unmanned vehicle still needs proof and practice. Autonomous vehicles will be in the stage of co-drive for a long time, that is, driver-control and autonomous system assisting or autonomous system control and driver assisting. The braking system of the intelligent vehicle needs to work in driver driving mode or automatic driving mode during a long stage. Brake-by Wire system is the development trend of vehicle braking system. The brake modes of the Brake-by-Wire system can be switched easily and it can satisfy the demand for braking system of the intelligent vehicle. However, when the driving mode changes, the characteristic of the braking intention and braking demand will change. In order to improve the braking performance of the intelligent vehicle, hydraulic pressure control and parameter optimization of the Brake-by-Wire system during different driving modes should be different.Researches are made on hydraulic pressure control and parameter optimization of the Brake-by-Wire system with consideration on differences of braking intensity input and braking requirement between driver driving mode and automatic driving mode through theory analysis, Matlab/Simulink-AMESim simulation and bench test. The study is helpful for improving the braking performance of Brake-by-Wire system in hydraulic pressure control of driver automation cooperative driving.

Abstract:This paper focuses on both brake safety and ride comfort improvement in the postbraking phase. First, a complete vehicle model is established together with the design of a safety control strategy for the longitudinal deceleration control method. Information on driver behavior and vehicle signals is collected to ensure braking safety, including vehicle speed, vehicle deceleration, steering wheel angle, accelerator opening degree, and ABS status. Second, a methodology for longitudinal deceleration control is proposed using a sliding mode control algorithm, aiming to improve ride comfort in the postbraking phase under the prerequisite of a reduced braking distance. Finally, co-simulation, based on Simulink and CarSim, and vehicle tests are carried out. The results show that when the braking distance is constant, the longitudinal deceleration vibration and vertical pitch vibration in the postbraking phase are well suppressed. The peak overshot of longitudinal deceleration and the amplitude of vertical vibration in the postbraking phase decrease. The vibration period of the vehicle is shortened. The braking process of the vehicle is smoother. Thus, the ride comfort is improved in the postbraking phase while maintaining braking safety.

Abstract:Common disc brakes of mine hoists cannot effectively detect the faults caused by an insufficient braking force. To solve the problem, a new disc brake is proposed which can accurately monitor the disc spring force (DSF) and positive brake pressure (PBP) in real time. Based on this, the new structure of the disc brake is designed, and the new DSF sensor and PBP sensor are installed in the disc brake to judge whether the braking force is adequate. By analyzing the structural mechanics models of two sensors, the design is verified as feasible. Moreover, theoretical parameters of the disc brake are calculated to prepare for comparison with experimental parameters. Finally, prototypes of the DSF sensor and PBP sensor are calibrated and the designed disc brake prototype of mine hoists is tested in the field. Experiments show that the DSF, PBP and other parameters monitored by the disc brake in real time are accurate, and the error is small compared with theoretical parameters. As a result, the faults caused by an insufficient braking force can be detected timely by the disc brake. The present study can provide a train of thought for monitoring disc brake faults.

Abstract:Brake-by-wire technology is a development direction of the future automotive brake technology which has aroused extensive concern of domestic and foreign car manufacturers .Since the existing automotive electromechanical brake (EMB) was lack of wear compensation device which was specified in the national standard ,GB12676 — 2014 ,an innovative EMB with gap auto-matic adjustment function was designed .The mathematical models of drive motor , motor friction ,worm and gear ,ball screw and loading were established by MATLAB /Simulink .By building the EMB bench ,the braking performance differences between simulation and experiment were tested and analyzed under the signal of step ,triangle wave ,square wave and sinusoidal wave .The braking performances of EMB with the gap automatic adjustment function or nor were also tested and analyzed .The experimental results showed that the start-current of the EMB sys-tem had a "peak" characteristic and the clamping force was sensitive ,which could meet the bra-king requirements .According to the experimental data ,the parameter relations were concluded :the clamping force was linearly related to the locked-rotor current ,and the characteristics of cubic polynomial were met by the relationship between clamping force and screw displacement .The correctness of the mathematical model was verified by the simulation and experimental results .A theoretical basis for reducing the force sensor and other devices could be provided by the conclu -sion of parameters relational characteristics .The experimental outcome indicates that the gap au-tomatic adjustment function of the new EMB can guarantee that the brake gap and the response time are consistent at each time ,which can further improve the safety of brakes .

Abstract:This paper presents a detailed analytical model development which can describe the dynamic behavior of the electromechanical brake-by-wire (BBW) system over the entire operating range. The complete model has 10 degree-of-freedom (DOF) and includes essential nonlinearities such as gear backlashes, Coulomb frictions, and disk gap clearance. Such a full model is reduced to 6 degree-of-freedom model in SIMULINK for simulation study of the effectiveness and the achievable performance of different hardware and controller designs, an invaluable tool in the early design stage of a product. Simulation results show that the model is able to reproduce various nonlinear characteristics including typical structural hysteresis as shown in real brake assembly. The linearized version of the full nonlinear model is then obtained for its modal properties to understand the modes that are critical to the low frequency dynamics of the overall system. The results of the modal analyses are subsequently utilized to obtain two simplified models, one for non-contact mode and the other for the contact mode of operation. The concepts of two simplified models well capture the dynamic characteristics of the system over the frequencies of interest and are being used in the controller (e.g., clamping force control) and estimator (e.g., gap clearance estimation) designs that are under investigation.

Abstract:In order to effectively improve the vehicle safety, this paper proposed an electronic brake force distribution scheme and an anti-lock brake scheme for passenger car based on a novel brake-by-wire system. The brake-by-wire system was introduced at first, then the electronic brake force distribution scheme and anti-lock brake scheme are designed after analyzing of brake system and vehicle model. At last, the experiment is accomplished to prove the feasibility of the novel brake-by-wire actuator, and the co-simulations of vehicle based on Matlab/Simulink and AMESim are accomplished for typical braking process to prove the superiority of proposed brake-by-wire system and brake scheme. On the one hand, the experiment and simulation results show that the proposed electronic brake force distribution scheme is able to distribute the braking force according to braking intensity and conditions. So the β curve can as close as possible to the I curve. On the other hand, the anti-lock brake scheme is able to accurately regulate the wheel slip rate and adapt to different brake intensity. So the anti-lock brake scheme processes strong robust performance.

Abstract:The high redundant brake-by-wire system reveals vehicular safety handling ability and rarely emerges in the automotive area at the present time. This paper presents a novel brake-by-wire system, DREHB (Double Redundant Electro-Hydraulic Brake), with extensible fail-safe operations for high-automation autonomous driving vehicles. The DREHB is designed as a decoupled-architecture system containing three-layer cascaded modules, including a hydraulic power provider, a hydraulic flow switcher, and a hydraulic pressure modulator, and each of the modules can share dual redundancy. The operating principles of the DREHB in normal and degraded initiative braking modes are introduced, especially for the consideration of fail-safe and fail-operational functions. The matching and optimization of selected key parameters of the electric boost master cylinder and the linear solenoid valve were conducted using computer-aided batched simulations with a DREHB system modeled in MATLAB/Simulink and AMESim. The prototype of the DREHB was tested in hardware-in-the-loop experiments. The test results of typical braking scenarios verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the DREHB system, and the hydraulic pressure response as 28.0 MPa/s and tracking error within 0.15 MPa and the desirable fail-safe braking ability fully meets the requirements of higher braking safety and efficiency.
