Abstract:In this paper, we study the wave equation on infinite graphs. On one hand, in contrast to the wave equation on manifolds, we construct an example for the non-uniqueness for the Cauchy problem of the wave equation on graphs. On the other hand, we obtain a sharp uniqueness class for the solutions of the wave equation. The result follows from the time analyticity of the solutions to the wave equation in the uniqueness class. In the last part, we extend the result to a wide class of linear evolution equations.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with inverse acoustic source problems in an unbounded domain with dynamical boundary surface data of Dirichlet kind. The measurement data are taken at a surface far away from the source support. We prove uniqueness in recovering source terms of the form f(x)g(t) and f(x1, x2, t)h(x3), where g(t) and h(x3) are given and x = (x1, x2, x3) is the spatial variable in three dimensions. Without these a priori information, we prove that the boundary data of a family of solutions can be used to recover general source terms depending on both time and spatial variables. For moving point sources radiating periodic signals, the data recorded at four receivers are prove sufficient to uniquely recover the orbit function. Simultaneous determination of embedded obstacles and source terms was verified in an inhomogeneous background medium using the observation data of infinite time period. Our approach depends heavily on the Laplace transform.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study of the existence and uniqueness of global admissible conservative weak solutions for the periodic single-cycle pulse equation. We first transform the equation into an equivalent semilinear system by introducing a new set of variables. Using the standard ordinary differential equation theory, we then obtain the global solution to the semilinear system. Next, returning to the original coordinates, we get the global admissible conservative weak solution for the periodic single-cycle pulse equation. Finally, given an admissible conservative weak solution, we find a equation to single out a unique characteristic curve through each initial point and prove the uniqueness of global admissible conservative weak solution without any additional assumptions.

Consider the following stochastic partial differential equations in the plane:dX z=α(z, Xz)dMz+β(z, Xz)dAz, z∈R + 2 , Xz=Zz, z∈∂R + 2 , whereR + 2 =[0, +∞)×[0,+∞) and ∂R + 2 is its boundary,Z is a continuous stochastic process on ∂R + 2 . We establish a new theorem on the pathwise uniqueness of solutions for the equation under a weaker condition than the Lipschitz one. The result concerning the one-parameter analogue of the problem we consider here is immediate (see [1, Theorem 3.2]). Unfortunately, the situation is much more complicated for two-parameter process and we believe that our result is the first one of its kind and is interesting in itself. We have proved the existence theorem for the equation in [2].

Abstract:We study the uniqueness of weak solution in Lloc∞([0,+∞);L2(R1)) for initial value problem of Chern–Simons–Dirac equations. We first derive the equations for the difference between two weak solutions and establish the existence of the solution to initial value problem to its adjoint system. Then we apply Holmgren's method to prove that the weak solution in Lloc∞([0,+∞);L2(R1)) to initial value problem of Chern–Simons–Dirac equations is unique.

Abstract:We study an initial-boundary value problem for a fractional wave equation of time distributed-order with a nonlinear source term. The coefficients of the second order differential operator are dependent on the spatial and time variables. We show the existence of a unique weak solution to the problem under low regularity assumptions on the data, which includes weakly singular solutions in the class of admissible problems. A similar result holds true for the fractional wave equation with Caputo fractional derivative.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodic boundary conditionsiut+uxx+i(f(|u|2)u)x=0,x∈T:=R/2πZ, where f is real analytic in some neighborhood of the origin in C, f(0)=0, and f′(0)≠0. We show the above equation possesses Cantor families of smooth quasi-periodic solutions of small amplitude. The proof is based on an infinite dimensional KAM theorem for unbounded perturbation vector fields.

Abstract:Existence and uniqueness of positive radial solution u(p) of the Navier boundary value problem: {Delta(2)u = u(p) in R-N\(B) over bar, u > 0 in R-N\(B) over bar, u = Delta u = 0 on partial derivative B, where B subset of R-N (N >= 5) is the unit ball and p > N-4/N+4, are obtained.
