Abstract:Based on the research status of real-time ethernet, End-to-End delay of ethernet in industrial control processes was analyzed, and its calculation procedure was presented. Through simulation experiment, the real-time characteristics of standard ethernet and fast ethernet under three information releasing modes (synchronous, random, scheduled) were discussed. The results show that the real-time performance of fast Ethernet is obviously better than that of standard ethernet; and in low traffic load, the real-time performance of Ethernet under scheduled releasing mode is the best, but a visible frequency turning point exists; and when the traffic load is saturated, there is no difference under the three information releasing modes.

Abstract:TCP(Transmission Control Protocol) is a widely used reliable transmission protocol,and it is designed on such assumption that most packet losses are caused by congestion.But in wireless networks,packets are lost usually because of bit-errors,which causes dramatic performance declining.Many current methods to improve TCP performance over wireless networks are TCP-aware.This paper proposed an alternative "TCP-unaware" scheme that is suitable for encrypted TCP traffic.It makes TCP source be capable of differentiating a loss due to congestion in the wired network from a loss due to bit-errors in wireless networks.Simulation results show that the scheme can improve TCP performance significantly in both LAN(Local Area Network) and WAN(Wide Area Network).

Abstract:Qos of broadband network is important. ISPs have some methods for evaluate it. But they are not efficient enough. This paper present a new method in which delay and scale of windows of TCP messages are used for evaluating performance of broadband. Comparison between delay or scale of window s of samples is the core idea of the method. There are two kinds of comparison. One is absolute terms of above-mentioned indexes, another is score, that is relative term. We can grade samples according to their scores. It is helpful for locating probably fault situation for ISPs.

Abstract:Based on industrial control process,this paper detailedly analyzes end-to end delay of ethernet,and presents the expectation expression of queue delay and calculation procedure of send delay and transmission delay.By simulation,this paper also analyzes influence of three parameters on real-time capacity of ethernet,and puts forward improving methods on real-time capacity of ethernet in industrial application.These parameters are the number of nodes,the length of frames and communication rate.

Abstract:On the base of analyzing transmission principle of periodic data in EPA network deeply,the paper discussed communication delay composition of periodic data in end-to-end transmission process of EPA network and end treatment process.And it took a typical EPA network composed of micronet segments as an example to do quantitative calculation of communication delay of periodic data of EPA network, so as to get real-time indexes which EPA network could reach.It also pointed out measures to improve real-time performance of EPA network.

Abstract:Testing is needed to evaluate the function and performance of network chips; however, there are few papers on test methods for network chips. This paper presents an test structure and five test methods for network chips according to the position of points of control and observation. The five test methods are a centralized test method, a distributed test method, a remote test method, a traversing test method, and a loopback test method. These test methods were used to evaluate the function, interoperability and performance of OC48c POS (packet over SONET) chips. The test methods provide a broad range of tests for network chip testing.

In this paper, evolution of IP network measurement is reviewed at first. Then, basic concepts and various technologies of network measurement are introduced, including active performance measurement, passive flow measurement, network tomography and network probe. Afterwards, performance evaluation index and several popular network performance evaluation methods are explored. Finally, brief summarization is given.

Abstract:Based on different test conditions,the Ethernet/WLAN test system can build up lumped test duty,execute test duty in batches,and confirm and analyze the network plan according to massive test results.By means of network transmission speed of data sent according to TCP and UDP protocol,network transmission speed of transmitted data in different sizes,drop rate of transmitted data by use of TCP and UDP protocol,the influence of the Berkeley socket and the ZBUF socket on transmission data,the varied different conditions were tested,and the test results were analyzed extensively.This test system can confirm different kinds of the Ethernet/WLAN plan,and provide the reference for weapon system network.

Abstract:IEEE 802.15 (TM) working group has designed the IEEE Std. 802.15.4 to target the low-rate wireless personal area network (LR-WPAN) which is characterized by low complexity, low cost and low power. The IEEE Std. 802.15.4 specifies operations of the physical layer (PHY) and medium access control (MAC) sublayer. These standards are to ensure acceptable system performance in terms of network PHY collisions, MAC collisions, throughput, average transmission delay, and energy efficiency. Yet there axe a number of factors that may affect the system performance, including beacon order (BO), backoff exponent (BE), contention window (CW), existence of hidden terminal problem, and existence of acknowledgement (ACK) mechanism. Understanding the impacts of these factors is of great importance in system design to improve performance. These impacts are examined numerically via network simulator (ns-2) in the current work, which leads to some nontrivial findings.

Abstract:High performance user-level network designs need accurate communication analyses. A performance measurement method based on communication analyses was developed to provide detailed analyses of communication performance data. The system firstly analyzes the network architecture and communication processes. Then the system pings targets as a benchmark to measure the round trip travel time. The latency of each communication step can be derived from the pinging data. Test results show that the system is simple and effective, and provides more detailed information about the low level network than the LogP benchmark. The program also gives suggestions on how to use the network better and how to improve network performance.

Abstract:The focus that switched Ethernet becomes the mainstream in the networked control system is hard real-time ability. For this paper uses a new analytic tool: network calculus to analysis the special performances of the hard real-time data via a switched Ethernet. In this paper, we firstly propose switched Ethernet. Secondly, with the scheduling algorithms FIFO (first input first output), GPS (generalized processor sharing ) and WFQ (weighted fair queuing), we present the efficient and tight methods to derive the worst case end-to-end delay and buffer size by network calculus. Lastly, in the star topology, we analyze and compare the performance of the switched Ethernet with WFQ and FIFO scheduling policies using different workload sets and under different utilization.

Abstract:The object of this paper is to discuss testing and evaluation methods, which can be used for performance study of fiber based storage network system. To meet the increasing storage requirements, networking storage. new storage system architecture, has been put forward and has, been developed quickly. in which slot-age area network (SAN) is a key technology. We carry out our tests in two such kinds of structures. BY deploying different parameters settings we can simulate different practical conditions for optimal configuration and system maintenance. The results show SAN that can reaches 90MB/s of transfer bandwidth has advantages over tradition transmitting methods and by deploying different characters we can improve its performances.

Abstract:Compared with the terrestrial network, the spatial communication link has the characteristics of long delay, frequent interruption, high bit error rate,and asymmetric uplink and downlink. The mature network technology of the internet is not suitable, which challenges the guarantee of reliable transmission performance of network. Different from the scheme of spatial IP protocol system,DTN(delay tolerant networking) protocol architecture compatible with various transmission mechanisms according to the spatial communication link characteristics was adopted. Focusing on the link asymmetry and channel error rate, the performance constraints of TCP and LTP (Licklider transport protocol) transmission mechanisms to ensure reliable transmission were studied, and the cross layer packet size optimization model of LTP mechanism was given. Based on the hardware in the loop simulation platform, the space communication scenario below GEO was constructed, and the real data flow simulation was carried out to analyze the impact of link factors on the transmission performance of the protocol. The simulation results show that TCP mechanism can still be used to ensure reliable transmission in the space communication scenario with low bit error rate and channel asymmetry, but LTP transmission mechanism should be considered to ensure the effectiveness and reliability of communication in the communication scenario with high bit error rate and channel asymmetry.

Abstract:Two different network architectures are discussed in this paper:transmission control protocol (TCP)/IP and delay-and disruption-tolerant networking (DTN) for future integrated space and terrestrial information network (ISTIN) in China. A simple space backhaul network consisted of 3 geostationary orbit (GEO) satel ites is analyzed and categorized as 3 basic transmission scenarios, in which the chal enges for network architecture are stated. Computer emulations are conducted to study the transmission performance of different protocols. The results show that although TCP-Hypla and DTN both have better performance compared to the classical terrestrial TCP, with high dynamic delays and bit error rate (BER), no protocol is always optimal in transmission performance throughout different scenarios. The performance of network architectures of ISTIN should be improved further.

Abstract:In network construction and running,it is very necessary to evaluate the network performance by the means of testing.This paper studies systematic testing methods of network routing convergence performance.Two routing convergence performance metrices OSPF and iBGP routing convergence time are measured.Simplified methods of routing convergence time measurement are presented.Via measuring transmission performance metrices of data-plane,convergence time of routing control-plane is estimated.The methods have no high requirements for test devices and are convenient to be applied.We use the methods to test the network routing convergence performance before CERNET2 is launched.The experimental results show that CERNET2 has satisfying routing convergence performance.

Abstract:Understanding the performance of the Internet's Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is important because it is the dominant protocol used in the Internet today. Various testing methods exist to evaluate TCP performance, however all have pitfalls that need to be understood prior to obtaining useful results. Simulating TCP is difficult because of the wide range of variables, environments, and implementations available. Testing TCP modifications in the global Internet may not be the answer either: testing new protocols on real networks endangers other people's traffic and, if not done correctly, may also yield inaccurate or misleading results. In order for TCP research to be independently evaluated in the Internet research community there is a set of questions that researchers should try to answer. This paper attempts to list some of those questions and make recommendations as to how TCP testing can be structured to provide useful answers.
