Abstract:Grid computing technology is a focused field in high performance computing. This paper describes an engineering computation oriented visual grid framework VGrid, which is capable to bridge the gap between currently deployed grid services and the computational applications. Based on the Globus toolkit, and coupled with a client component, a services pool and a server component, VGrid visually performs resource discovery, task schedule, and result processing. VGrid improves the efficiency of utilization of resources by introducing a logical resource concept. VGrid applications of numerical simulations in engineering sciences are demonstrated.

Abstract:The current grid technology can be viewed as an extension or application of this framework to create a more generic resource sharing context. Grid technology is widely emerging. Still, there is an eminent shortage of real grid users, due to the absence of two important catalysts. A widely accepted vision on how applications can substantially benefit from grids, and second a toolkit of higher-level grid services, tailored to application needs. The grid aims to provide fundamentally new capabilities for applications to exploit the power of grid computing. We present a architecture of grid, middleware and its application technology, a large-scale, grid-empowered applications and then discuss grid general architecture and its grid application. We illustrate how applications can be grid-enabled and discuss grid as an tool for computing services.

Abstract:Grid computing is becoming a new computing infrastructure for large-scale scientific computation and cooperative work. The Globus toolkit is the most popular grid environment and de facto grid standard, and it has adopted OGSA architecture to provide applications with grid service level. This study focuses on the requirement for scientists in engineering computation field and narrows the gap between grid service and the engineering community. The engineering computation architecture supplies the users with a visual application development and deployment environment for engineering computation. The whole is characterized by grid service. At the same time, QoS driven user-centric scheduling, community-based efficient authorization and flexible task management are designed and implemented.

Abstract:Computation grid is the infrastructure for the next generation internet. Abstract:It is extremely waste for many costly utility software distributed in isolated departments with low utilization rate. To solve this problem, the emerging grid-enable technology was introduced. The requirement and significance of utility software grid-enable technology were analyzed, and the software architecture was studied. Different grid-enable technologies were brought forward for different types of software. Furthermore, job invocation and grid services developed with Application Program Interface (API) provided by the software were studied in detail, then geographical distributed utility software could be organized to be a virtual organization to share their computing power and realize their collaboration.

Abstract:"Grid" computing has emerged as an important new field, distinguished from conventional distributed computing by its focus on large-scale resource sharing, innovative applications, and, in some cases, high-performance orientation. In this article, we define this new field. First, we review the "Grid problem," which we define as flexible, secure, coordinated resource sharing among dynamic collections of individuals, institutions, and resources-what we refer to as virtual organizations. In such settings, we encounter unique authentication, authorization, resource access, resource discovery, and other challenges. It is this class of problem that is addressed by Grid technologies. Next, we present an extensible and open Grid architecture, in which protocols, services, application programming interfaces, and software development kits are categorized according to their roles in enabling resource sharing. We describe requirements that we believe any such mechanisms must satisfy, and we discuss the central role played by the intergrid protocols that enable interoperability among different Grid systems. Finally, we discuss how Grid technologies relate to other contemporary technologies, including enterprise integration, application service provider, storage service provider, and peer-to-peer computing. We maintain that Grid concepts and technologies complement and have much to contribute to these other approaches.

Abstract:Grid computing presents a new trend to distributed computing and Internet applications, which can construct a virtual single image of heterogeneous resources, provide uniform application interface and integrate widespread computational resources into super, ubiquitous and transparent aggregation. ChinaGrid project, founded by Ministry of Education of China, is an attempt to achieve above goals by exploring the various resources on existing and well developed internet infrastructure, CERNET (China Education and Research Network). In this paper, I will introduce the general picture of ChinaGrid project, its vision and mission. The design of ChinaGrid support platform, called CGSP, is also discussed briefly. To illustrate the reality of ChinaGrid project, five different grid computing applications and its application supporting platform are discussed in detail. The purpose of this paper is to introduce this great grid project to the world completely for the first time.
