Abstract:Concepts and developments of grid,Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA),Open Grid Services Infrastructure (OGSI),Web Service-Resource Framework (WSRF) and Globus Toolkit 3.0 (GT3) were introduced. The application demands of grids in e-science, e-government, e-entertainment, e-education, e-business and e-manufacturing, and its application opportunities in manufacturing industry were illustrated. Support provided by grid technology was much suitable for networked-manufacturing system demands. Virtual enterprises can be established by taking advantages of the grid's ability of exchanging information. Grid can promote collaboration and sharing in software, hardware, data, information, knowledge and intelligence resources among enterprises. Current research on grid in China was mentioned. Research targets, contents and key problems about Networked-Manufacturing Resource Grid (NetManGrid) were illuminated. The architecture, application integration framework, standard, protocol, modeling, organization, management, cooperation and workflow in NetManGrid were discussed. This grid system is an application system including many business grids such as the logistics grid, sale grid, customer grid, partner grid, manufacturing grid and design grid.
