Abstract:In the conventional valve-controlled hydraulic elevator, when the cabin moves downwards, the entire potential energy of the cabin is wasted and converted into fluid heat by throttling. Thus, the energy consumption of a traditional hydraulic elevator is much higher than that of the, traction elevator. To reduce the energy consumption and power installation requirements, the energy-regenerative hydraulic elevators have been developed since 1997. In this paper, different generations of the design are discussed for energy-regenerative system; in particular, a new generation is focused on in detail. Experimental studies of this new design are carried out to compare the energy consumption of different system designs of hydraulic elevator. Finally, a conclusion is drawn that the new generation of hydraulic elevator can achieve a significant energy-saving performance compared to the traditional elevators.

Abstract:To further improve fuel efficiency of hydraulic excavators, a new energy saving scheme which used the hybrid power source to replace the conventional single diesel engine was proposed. By analyzing the load condition of the hydraulic excavators and the distribution of the engine working point, the necessity and feasibility of hybrid technology for hydraulic excavators were revealed. Matlab/Simulink models of the two kinds of hybrid excavators were constructed which used the load data collected from a real 5 t excavator as the load input. The energy saving effect, system cost and power performance of the three kinds of power train systems were compared through simulation and experiments. Comparison results showed that the parallel configuration was the most suitable technology for hydraulic excavators energy saving. It could improve energy saving for hydraulic excavators.

Abstract:As comparing with traction elevator,hydraulic elevator has larger power weight ratio and better reliability,which was suitable in low and middle story buildings.Due to the complication of structure of main control valve in hydraulic elevator,high skill for mechanic to do the installation,adjustment and maintenance work of those system was required which somewhat limited its wide ap-plication.Working principle of the hydraulic system,structure of main valve and developing trend of present some typical hydraulic el-evator were introduced,as well as the regular inspection methods and verification criterions for parameters inspected at fixed period of time as the pressure setting,flow rate characteristic and anti-downward function for the hydraulic main control valve were analyzed.The research helps improving the understanding of hydraulic elevator for technicians,then enlarges the application of hydraulic elevator.

Abstract:In order to improve the energy utilization efficiency of hydraulic elevators, an innovative energy-saving controlled system applying pressure accumulators in hydraulic elevators was brought forward in this paper. Firstly the working principle of the system was discussed and analyzed under different working status. Then the mathematical models of the system were established. Numerical simulations for the static and dynamic of the system were studied on the Simulink environment of MATLAB kits. Experiments on the upward and downward movement of elevator were done under different typical working conditions. Numerical simulations coincided with experimental results in general. Compared with other type hydraulic elevator systems, such as conventional valve controlled system, inverter controlled system, the system with pressure accumulators has the highest energy-saving efficiency. In summary, the innovative energy-saving system which runs steadily and comfortably, saves energy remarkably, has good potential for application in not only hydraulic elevators but also in other vertically reciprocating mechanical systems.
Research on the System of Arm Potential Energy Recovery in Hybrid Hydraulic Excavators

Abstract:According to the analysis of the unique working condition in hydraulic excavators, a structure of arm potential energy recovery in parallel hybrid hydraulic excavators was put forward. The force condition of cylinder was analyzed, and the mathematical models of hydraulic components (e.g. cylinder, throttle and hydraulic motor) and electric components (e.g. electric motor and NIMH batteries) were built up. Also, the control strategy of the hybrid excavator, which is equipped with arm potential energy recovery, and the control method of energy recovery were proposed. Theory analysis and simulation results present that, based on the fuel efficiency of the parallel hybrid hydraulic excavator, system's fuel efficiency will be further improved by means of arm potential energy recovery. The energy recovery system has the characteristics of simple structure, higher energy recovery efficiency and controllable recovery speed.
Energy-saving Technology of Variable Counterweight and Its Energy Consumption Analyses

Abstract:To solve the disadvantages of high energy consumption and low efficiency in hydraulic lift system,an innovative energy-saving technology of variable counterweight is proposed. The energy-saving concept is given and the working principles of two kinds of variable counterweight system are introduced,namely variable hydraulic counterweight and mechanical counterweight with variable speed. And the system applying the variable hydraulic counterweight is discussed in detail,including the installed power,the energy consumption,the efficiency and the poor working condition. Compared with the conventional variable voltage variable frequency (VVVF) hydraulic system,the installed power and energy consumption of the system with variable hydraulic counterweight decreases by 67% and 35% respectively,and the efficiency increases 30%,which means the system saves energy remarkably. Then the problems of the system are discussed,mainly involving efficiency,dynamic response and so on,and the solutions are presented. Finally,the development of the variable counterweight technology is prospected.

Abstract:The speed control system of variable voltage variable frequency (VVVF) hydraulic elevator with the pressure accumulator has been designed, which is a kind of the innovation energy-saving hydraulic elevator. The control system of the VVVF hydraulic elevator with the pressure accumulator is analyzed, and the speed control of the VVVF hydraulic elevator with the pressure accumulator is studied using the PID control algorithm. The comparison of the experimental researches of energy-saving is carried out for the speed control of the VVVF hydraulic elevator with and without the pressure accumulator. The experimental results show that the VVVF hydraulic elevator with the pressure accumulator has higher efficiency compared with the VVVF hydraulic elevator without the pressure accumulator.

Abstract:Mobile hydraulic systems are developed toward better control performance and higher energy efficiency. Pressure compensators, which govern the pressure drops over the control orifices, are widely used in multiactuator systems to improve their operability. However, additional energy is also dissipated in the compensators especially under the overrunning load conditions. This paper presents a novel energy-saving system, where the compensator is designed as a regeneration device consisting of a hydraulic motor and an electric generator. Then, hydraulic energy can be regenerated and pressure compensation function is realized by adapting the electromagnetic torque of the generator to the load as well. The close-loop control of the generator is designed by effective pressure drop estimation. The proposed energy-saving system and controller are implemented on an experimental platform of hybrid excavators which is equipped with an electric energy storage device. The experimental results show both good control performance and significant energy-saving effect.

Abstract:Single-screw hoists are widely used in plane gate of various types of small and medium size hydraulic projects(sluice,dyke-dam,channel,tunnel,culvert,etc.) with many advantages,such as compact structure,operation safety,low cost,and easy installation and maintenance.While there are many problems in the practical use,such as the dead weight,the limited span,instable gravity,blocked downside,and screw bending.Dual-ball bearing screw hoist can eliminate the disadvantages of single-screw hoist in effect,and reduce the extent of vibration which produced by the gate in higher water head operation condition,which makes the gate on or off more safely and reliably,and the equipment more durable.

Abstract:A new hydraulic hybrid excavator potential energy recovery system is proposed in this paper. The energy recovery system uses threechamber cylinders (TCCs) and accumulators to recover potential energy during work cycle. Within this structure, there is no throttle valve in the primary loop, and the recovered energy is stored in the form of hydraulic energy. Hence, energy loss of throttle valve and energy conversion process are avoided, and energy efficiency is improved. The mathematical model is established to analyze dynamic and energy recovery characteristics. From simulation analysis, the usage of accumulators and TCC influences the dynamic response and stability. The increase of accumulator volume weakens the control performance but heightens the stability. When the cross sectional area of the TCC increases, the control performance of the system are improved. In addition, the maximum power and energy consumption of pumps and engine with different accumulator volumes and different TCC diameters are obtained. Also, the maximum power and energy consumption of each pump and engine in different working conditions are obtained and compared with those without potential energy recovery system. According to the comparison, the potential energy recovery system can reduce the maximum power and energy of engine by 50%.

Abstract:A hydraulic cylinder driven scheme combining a pressure compensator and an energy recovery device together has been proposed to achieve good control operation and energy-saving capability simultaneously. In this paper, its efficiency characteristics are further investigated in order to provide analytical and experimental references to practical applications. Since an excavator owns multiple actuators, a general schematic configuration including hydraulic cylinders with and without energy recovery is developed and analyzed. Based on the analysis of energy losses in every conversion, component selections and possible improvements are discussed, and then the design flowchart and criteria of key parameters are also presented. Finally, experiments under different load and velocity conditions are implemented on a test bench. Energy distributions, recovery efficiencies and component efficiencies are all evaluated.

Abstract:This paper is to study on a novel recovery and release hydraulic hybrid system for excavators (HHE). The HHE uses hydraulic accumulators to recover the potential energy of the boom, the kinetic energy of the swing motor and the overflow hydraulic energy of the excavator’s main relief. The recovered energy is then utilized through a variable hydraulic motor as assistant power of the engine. The key issue of the HHE is that the operation of the boom must be similar to the conventional one about the sensing of the driver and the system must achieve higher efficiency and save more energy when comparing with the conventional system. In order to improve the recovery efficiency and while controlling the boom velocity with the similar operation, one design concept named “microcut” is proposed. When the boom drops down fast, a proportional valve is used to control the boom. While the boom goes down slowly, the recovery system is cut off. Then, the multi-way valve of the original system works to ensure good handling. An experimental prototype is designed and built in a 21-tons excavator. A 16% fuel-saving effect is obtained by weighing engine’s fuel consumption with the same amount of work, under conditions of the similar operation and higher efficiency compared with the conventional excavator.

Abstract:The hydraulic drive system of cutter head for shield tunneling machine was introduced,simulation model was established and simulation analysis was carried out with AMESim software.The simulation results show that the energy consumption of hydraulic system of variable speed and hydraulic system of variable displacement for cutter head is roughly equal in the heavy loads,however,the hydraulic drive system of variable speed is more efficient than that of variable displacement in the small loads,and the system is energy saving in this situation.

Abstract:A non-feedback method for elevator energy saving was proposed.The regenerated power was absorbed using a battery set,and the battery set could be used for self levering when there was a sudden power failure.Experiments were carried out and results showed that about 80% of the regenerated power can be absorbed and the distance of self levering can be over 13 meters with the voltage of the battery decreased about 12 V.

Abstract:In recent years, the application of hydraulic pumping unit in energy saving and consumption reduction shows many advantages and development potential. It is very important to adopt appropriate methods to save energy for hydraulic pumping unit. So far, the research work in this field has been reported in many articles, but they are scattered, and there is no summary of the energy-saving technology and method of hydraulic pumping unit. It is necessary to summarize the latest development of this energy-saving technology. In this article, the energy-saving technology of hydraulic pumping unit is comprehensively reviewed, aiming to clarify the latest progress of energy-saving technology and summarize the potential challenges in the research and application of energy-saving technology. At the same time, this article mainly summarizes the main energy-saving principles and energy-saving technologies in hydraulic pumping units, as well as the application of simulation software in the digital model of hydraulic pumping units. By combing the development and improvement of hydraulic pumping unit, the blank field and future research direction are put forward, which provides reference for technicians and researchers in related industries to develop new energy-saving technologies of hydraulic system.
