Abstract:Concerning the nonlinearity,time-variant and imprecise model in the Variable Air Volume(VAV) air-conditioning systems,an adaptive variable discourse fuzzy control was proposed to improve the dynamic performance and accuracy of the control system.Based on derivation of VAV air-conditioning terminal model,simulation was conducted.The simulation results show that compared with the traditional PID control and conventional fuzzy control,variable discourse fuzzy control improves the system dynamic and static characteristics and steady state accuracy.Therefore,the fuzzy controller's performance has been greatly improved with good control effect.
On Deformation of the Fractals from Complex Dynamics

Abstract:A method for deforming fractals from complex dynamics is proposed. Firstly, an elementary fractal transfiguration model of complex quadratic dynamics in the form of a six-parameter family is presented. Secondly, a two-dimensional extension factor, also including six control parameters, is constructed. Finally, a transfiguration algorithm is put forward, which begins with an iteration of the fractal transfiguration model for computation of the periodicities of all discrete points in the given complex plane and then exerts a 2D extension factor on every point to transfer them while keeping their periodicities unchanged. Experimental results demonstrate that our fractal deformation algorithm is simple, intuitive, foreseeable and easy to control. It is hoped that our investigation would result in new perspectives for the deformation of other deterministic fractals as well.

Abstract:Underwater vehicle controller design proves difficult for time varying, nonlinear dynamics, coupled model and uncertain flow. Also it is hard to construct the nonlinear coupled uncertain model. Fortunately, we find a simple method to deal with that problem. Variable universe fuzzy control algorithm is superior in model-independent and nonlinear control. Also it is a simple and universal method. It indeed suits for AUV controller design. In this paper, variable universe fuzzy controller, control system and nonlinear dynamic model of AUV are presented. Then we test that controller in simulation to examine its performance.

Abstract:The recent development of the variable structure control (VSC) is discussed in this paper. It can be summarized as follows: main theoretical problems of the variable structure control (VSC) are investigated deeply and comprehensively; some new synthesis methods of VSC are presented and are extended to many kinds of systems, thus the distance between theory and practice is shortens largely; variable structure control integrates with other control strategies (for example, classical control, adaptive control and fuzzy control, etc.). The key problems for the study of VSC are the robustness and the reduction of chattering. With the development of VSC theoretical research, many real application results are reported recently.

Abstract:The adaptive fuzzy controller based on variable universe has succeeded in many applications,but its computation of distortion ratio was very difficult since there lacks feasible method for its parameter estimation.In this study an approach was presented based on Markov process.By simulating the performance of the adaptive fuzzy controller based on variable universe by a Markov chain,the problem of the computation of distortion ratio is solved.The feasibility of the approach is demonstrated theoretically,and the effectiveness is verified by two examples.

Abstract:Based on the stability theory of fractional order systems, an effective but theoretically rigorous nonlinear control method is proposed to synchronize the fractional order chaotic systems. Using this method, chaos synchronization between two identical fractional order unified systems is studied. Simulation results are shown to illustrate the effectiveness of this method.

Abstract:Fractals, Ahead of Print. This paper focuses on synchronization control of the fractional-order unified chaotic system. First, the stability of equilibria is analyzed by the Routh–Hurwitz criteria. Then, three different controllers are designed to achieve chaos synchronization of the drive-response unified system. Further, the impact of the fractional order on the synchronization performance is illustrated. Numerical simulations are carried out to verify the feasibility of theoretical analysis.

Abstract:Journal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, Ahead of Print. The optimal control of a system governed by an elliptic equation has been widely applied in engineering, and it requires twice differentiability. Furthermore, the optimal control cannot effectively deal with unsmooth boundaries. Now, the condition will not be maintained for a long time because this paper suggests a fractal optimal control of a system governed by a fractal variational principle to deal with unsmooth boundaries. The new optimal theory has obvious advantages in low differentiability for an unsmooth boundary problem. The air conditioning in a room is used as an example to show how to maintain maximum comfortableness of the workplace and maximum efficiency of energy saving.

Abstract:The problem of chaos control in freeway system was studied by using the synthetic method with delayed feedback control and fuzzy control. Based on the uncertainty characteristic of vehicle volume in freeway system, the synthetic method was proposed to control the chaos system of freeway by using the theory of delay feedback control and the fuzzy control method. The principle was briefly introduced about the switched system of on-ramp chaos control in freeway. The feedback ramp controller was designed. The goal of chaos control is to realize periodic orbits from unstable periodic movement and the ramp metering rate is the control variable. The parameters of the fuzzy controller were optimized by using genetic algorithm. The effects were discussed in the simulation experiment. The result shows that the principle and the method are correct and feasible.

Abstract:The existing control theory is divided into two parts in this paper, i.e. precise control theory and fuzzy control theory. After investigating the advantages and disadvantages of the precise control and fuzzy control respectively, the so-called fuzzy-precise combined control strategy is proposed from the view of practical application in the paper. This new strategy will bring maximum control benefits with minimum design efforts. As the application background, the fuzzy-precise combined control strategy has applied into four full scale paper machine control systems, and all of them got good control results.

Parameter gamma has great influence on the correlation coefficient of rough profiles, and it should be carefully selected to fit actual profiles with W-M function. An approximated relation between R-a and fractal parameters has been deduced and a new fractal roughness R *(a) has been proposed.

Abstract:Fractal is a common feature of many deterministic complex networks. The complex networks with fractal features have interesting structure and good performance. The network based on hypergraph is named hypernetwork. In this paper, we construct a hypernetwork model with fractal properties, and obtain its topological properties. Moreover, according to the exact controllability theory, we obtain the node controllability and the hyperedge controllability of the fractal hypernetwork. The simulation results show that the measure of hyperedge controllability is smaller than that of node in the fractal hypernetwork. In addition, We compare the controllability of three types of hypernetwork, which are easier to control by their hyperedges. It is shown the fractal hypernetwork constructed in this paper has the best controllability. Because of the good controllability of our fractal hypernetwork model, it is suitable for the topology structure of many real systems.

Abstract:This paper proposes a fractal modification of tropical algebra for noise removal and optimal control. Fractal addition, fractal multiplication, and fractal dot product are defined and explained in a fractal space. A fractal tropical polynomials function can model a coastline at any scale, providing a new tool for fractal analysis of any irregular curve. An example is given to solve an optimal control subject to a fractal tropical polynomials function. This paper provides a new window for tropical algebra, combining fractal geometry and algebra.

Abstract:Atmospheric turbulence, recognized as a quintessential space–time chaotic system, can be characterized by its fractal properties. The characteristics of the time series of multiple orders of fractal dimensions, together with their relationships with stability parameters, are examined using the data from an observational station in Horqin Sandy Land to explore how the diurnal variation, synoptic process, and stratification conditions can affect the fractal characteristics. The findings reveal that different stratification conditions can disrupt the quasi-three-dimensional state of atmospheric turbulence in different manners within different scales of motion. Two aspects of practical applications of fractal dimensions are explored. Firstly, fractal properties can be employed to refine similarity relationships, thereby offering prospects for revealing more information and expanding the scope of application of similarity theories. Secondly, utilizing different orders of fractal dimensions, a systematic algorithm is developed. This algorithm distinguishes and eliminates non-turbulent motions from observational data, which are shown to exhibit slow-changing features and result in a universal overestimation of turbulent fluxes. This overestimation correlates positively with the boundary frequency between turbulent and non-turbulent motions. The evaluation of these two aspects of applications confirms that fractal properties hold promise for practical studies on atmospheric turbulence.

Abstract:Fractals, Ahead of Print. The fractal function approximation is an important branch of fractal theory. Compared with the ordinary function approximation, its advantage is that it can not only improve the accuracy of the approximation, but also maintain the fractional-dimensional characteristics of the objective function. However, in the process of studying the fractal function approximation, it is inevitable to calculate the fractal dimension of the sum function after adding multiple functions. This paper systematically sorts out and computes the fractal dimension of sum functions for different cases, so as to make a good theoretical foundation for fractal function approximation. Finally, considering that the change of aircraft aerodynamic value has fractional dimension characteristics, the use of the fractional function to approximate the aerodynamic numerical function has an inherent advantage, and the use of fractional calculus for aerodynamic modeling can more accurately measure the maximum angle of attack. Therefore, the application of fractional calculus and fractal function approximation theory in aerodynamic numerical modeling has been discussed in detail at the end of this paper, and the corresponding fractional aerodynamic modeling process is also demonstrated.

Abstract:Fractals, Ahead of Print. Local fractional calculus theory and parameterized method have greatly assisted in the advancement of the field of inequalities. To continue its enrichment, this study investigates the multi-parameter fractal–fractional integral inequalities containing the fractal [math]-convex functions. Initially, we formulate the new conception of the fractal [math]-convex functions and work on a variety of properties. Through the assistance of the fractal–fractional integrals, the [math]-fractal identity with multiple parameters is established, and from that, integral inequalities are inferred regarding twice fractal differentiable functions which are fractal [math]-convex. Furthermore, a few typical and novel outcomes are discussed and visualized for specific parameter values, separately. It concludes with some applications in respect of the special means, the quadrature formulas and random variable moments, respectively.

Abstract:Virtual material is a dynamic model of mechanical contact surface, which is suitable for finite element simulation. This method can characterize the stiffness and damping of the contact surface well by using fractal geometry theory to describe the contour of the contact surface. Based on standard W-M function, we verify the accuracy of the fractal dimension calculated by wavelet transform, and then fit the fractal dimension of machined surfaces with different roughness. Using the fractal dimension, we calculate the virtual material parameters to establish the finite element model of the unit specimen. Finally, we carry out the experimental modal analysis to examine reproduce the virtual material method.
