Abstract:Local fractional calculus deals with everywhere continuous but nowhere differentiable functions in fractal space. The Yang-Fourier transform based on the local fractional calculus is a generalization of Fourier transform in fractal space. In this paper, local fractional continuous non-differentiable functions in fractal space are studied, and the generalized model for the Yang-Fourier transforms derived from the local fractional calculus are introduced. A generalized model for the Yang-Fourier transforms in fractal space and some results are proposed in detail.

Abstract:A method for deforming fractals from complex dynamics is proposed. Firstly, an elementary fractal transfiguration model of complex quadratic dynamics in the form of a six-parameter family is presented. Secondly, a two-dimensional extension factor, also including six control parameters, is constructed. Finally, a transfiguration algorithm is put forward, which begins with an iteration of the fractal transfiguration model for computation of the periodicities of all discrete points in the given complex plane and then exerts a 2D extension factor on every point to transfer them while keeping their periodicities unchanged. Experimental results demonstrate that our fractal deformation algorithm is simple, intuitive, foreseeable and easy to control. It is hoped that our investigation would result in new perspectives for the deformation of other deterministic fractals as well.

Abstract:This paper makes an attempt to develop a fractal derivative model of anomalous diffusion. We also derive the fundamental solution of the fractal derivative equation for anomalous diffusion, which characterizes a clear power law. This new model is compared with the corresponding fractional derivative model in terms of computational efficiency, diffusion velocity, and heavy tail property. The merits and distinctions of these two models of anomalous diffusion are then summarized.

Abstract:New definitions of fractional derivative with non-singular kernels are proposed recently. In the present paper, we apply the classical and new definitions of fractional derivative to four fractional viscoelastic models, namely, fractional Maxwell model, fractional Kelvin-Voigt model, fractional Zener model and fractional Poynting-Thomson model. For each fractional viscoelastic model, the stress relaxation modulus, creep compliance and dynamic modulus are derived analytically under the classical and new fractional derivative definitions. The performance of these models under different fractional derivative definitions is further compared. The results show that the fractional Zener model and fractional Poynting-Thomson model are equivalent in all conditions. Compared with the classical fractional derivative definition with a power function kernel, the fractional derivative definition with a logarithmic function kernel can be used to describe the ultraslow creep and relaxation behaviors. However, the performance of fractional Maxwell model with the exponential function kernel is close to that of integer-order Maxwell model. Fractional Maxwell model and fractional Zener model with the Mittag-Leffler function kernel do not provide accurate descriptions of the stress relaxation modulus at shortest time and the storage modulus at highest frequency. Thus, specific modification is needed when applying the new definitions of fractional derivative to viscoelasticity.

Abstract:I discuss the nature of a Fractional Discrete Fourier Transform (FrDFT) described algorithmically by a combination of chirp transforms and ordinary DFTs. The transform is shown to be consistent with a continuous two-dimensional rotation between the time and frequency domains. I further present a new closed-form expression for the transformation matrix and some preliminary analysis of its properties.

Abstract:In the present paper, a generalized local Taylor formula with the local fractional derivatives (LFDs) is proposed based on the local fractional calculus (LFC). From the fractal geometry point of view, the theory of local fractional integrals and derivatives has been dealt with fractal and continuously non-differentiable functions, and has been successfully applied in engineering problems. It points out the proof of the generalized local fractional Taylor formula, and is devoted to the applications of the generalized local fractional Taylor formula to the generalized local fractional series and the approximation of functions. Finally, it is shown that local fractional Taylor series of the Mittag-Leffler type function is discussed.

Abstract:The paper promotes a new sparse approximation for fractional Fourier transform, which is based on adaptive Fourier decomposition in Hardy-Hilbert space on the upper half-plane. Under this methodology, the local polynomial Fourier transform characterization of Hardy space is established, which is an analog of the Paley-Wiener theorem. Meanwhile, a sparse fractional Fourier series for chirp function is proposed, which is based on adaptive Fourier decomposition in Hardy-Hilbert space on the unit disk. Besides the establishment of the theoretical foundation, the proposed approximation provides a sparse solution for a forced Schr dinger equations with a harmonic oscillator.

Abstract:In this article, we establish a new auxiliary identity on fractal sets for twice local differentiable function involving extended fractal integral operators. Testing this identity together with generalized fractal Hölder’s and Power-mean integral inequalities, we develop some new fractal–fractional Simpson’s type inequalities. Furthermore, we use modified Yang Hölder’s and Power-mean inequality to create new fractal estimates. We also give comparison analysis of bounds and show how the modified form of Yang Hölder’s and Power-mean integral inequalities can result in improved lower upper bounds. We also provide concrete examples to examine the validity of obtain results numerically and also justify them by 2D and 3D graphical analysis. As implementations, we operate our findings to get new applications in form of ζ -type special means, moment of random variables and wave equations.

Abstract:A generalized local fractional Riccati differential equation (LFRDE) method, which is a combination of the local fractional Riccati differential equation method and the transformed rational function approach, is presented to obtain the non-differentiable exact traveling wave solutions for n-dimensional fractional partial differential equations. In order to verify the effectiveness of the method, the seventh-order local fractional Sawada–Kotera–Ito equation, the local fractional sine-Gordon equation and the local fractional Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation in fractal domain are first considered. The obtained results show that the presented method involving fractal special functions, are powerful and effective for obtaining exact solutions of nonlinear fractional partial differential equations in fractal domains.

Abstract:Fractals, Ahead of Print. The fractal-fractional derivative is a powerful tool that is generally used for the mathematical analysis of complex and unpredictable structures. In this paper, we study a population dynamical model of (3+1)-dimensional form using the fractal derivative involving fractional order with power law kernel. The proposed scheme is known as the Sumudu Homotopy Transform Method ([math]HTM), which depends on the association between the Sumudu Transform ([math]T) and the Homotopy Perturbation Method (HPM). The convergence of the derived results is verified by comparing the errors in consecutive iterations with the [math]HTM results. We display the behavior of the obtained results in three-dimensional shape across the various orders of fractal and fractional derivatives. We present three numerical tests to validate the accuracy of [math]HTM and compare the acquired findings to the exact outcomes of the suggested model. This analysis confirms that the [math]HTM results align perfectly with the accurate results. As a result, the [math]HTM is widely recognized as a leading computational method for obtaining approximate solutions to various nonlinear complex fractal-fractional problems.

Abstract:In this paper, the solution and behaviour of local fractional Fokker–Planck equation (LFFPE) is investigated in fractal media. For this purpose, the local fractional homotopy perturbation Elzaki transform method (LFHPETM) is proposed and utilized to explore the solution of LFFPE. The proposed scheme is a merger of well known local fractional homotopy perturbation technique and recently introduced local fractional Elzaki transform (LFET). The convergence and uniqueness analyses for LFHPETM solution of the general partial differential equation is also presented along with the computational procedure of this new hybrid combination. Three examples of LFFPE are illustrated to depict the applicability of the employed method with graphical simulations on Cantor set. The copulation of LFET with local fractional homotopy perturbation method (LFHPM) efficiently provides the faster solution for LFFPE in a fractal domain as compared to the LFHPM. Furthermore, the achieved solutions are also in a good match with existing solutions. The 3D behavior of solutions of LFFPEs are presented for fractal order . Figures illustrate the 3D surface graphics of solutions with respect to input variables.

Mathematical and Computer Modelling of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:Some new uniqueness theorems are proposed and a flexible, efficient numerical algorithm is formulated and analysed for convergence and numerically verified for nonlinear fractal-fractional differential equations with Mittag-Leffler kernel. Under some generalized conditions which admit a wider class of functions than the standard Lipschitz condition, the uniqueness of solution is established. By linearly interpolating between grid points, we design a numerical algorithm. Unlike existing methods, our constructed method avoids any form of grid restriction, uses minimal computation of special functions and is second order accurate under appropriate smoothness conditions. The convergence of the method is fully analysed, and numerical test cases are presented to verify the convergence result.

Abstract:The previous study implies that the fractional operator may stem from the motion in fractal space or the motion of fractal structure abstracted from biological systems. This study is devoted to answering another essential question, i.e., what determines the order of the fractional operator in fractal structure? This paper generalizes the concept of the fractal cell defined in the previous paper, explores the tree-like and net-like fractal structures with higher-order topology, abstracts two classes of higher-order fractal operators, and derives the algebraic equations satisfied by the fractal operators to answer this question. It is proved that the solutions of the algebraic equations for fractal operators are deterministically related to the fractional-time operators that are usually of fractional orders. By the Vieta theorem, the relation between the solutions of algebraic equations for fractal operators and the physical-component operators is clarified, and the duality constraints between them are revealed. The solutions of the fractal operators show that the topological invariants of the fractal cells are one of the essential factors in determining the fractional orders. A conjecture on the specific order of the fractional-time operator in fractal structure is proposed.

It has been shown that when polynomial operations are applied to the independent variable of a function, the fractal dimension of the function's graph remains unchanged.
