Abstract:The operation principle of a forward converter with LCD clamp circuit is described. The optimizing design procedure of the LCD clamp circuit based on diminishing voltage and current stresses of the switch is presented. Furthermore, the theoretical analysis and design procedure are verified on a 360W/100kHz prototype circuit by experiment.

Abstract:In this paper, an improved active clamp coupled inductor and switched capacitor based converter is proposed for high step-up applications for photovoltaic power generation systems. The topology of the proposed circuit is based on coupled inductor technology, and two voltage double cells are added to extend the voltage gain and reduce the voltage stress of diodes. Then, the switch has an extremely low voltage stress compared with the output voltage, and an active clamp circuit is added to suppress the switch voltage stress. Therefore, low voltage rated and low on-resistance switches can be used to reduce the on-state losses. Furthermore, zero voltage switching turn-on is achieved to reduce the switching losses. Finally, a prototype is built to verify the theoretical analysis.

Abstract:This paper proposed a hybrid-driven synchronous rectification method based on LM5027, a power-managing controller, which is mainly used in the rectification circuit of the active clamp forward converter. Due to this novel method, not only the body diodes conduction dissipation is decreased, but also the reverse current from the load side is avoided on condition of starting up with pre-bias load. In this paper, operating principle of current commutation periods between two synchronous rectifiers and pre-bias start-up are discussed in detail. In order to verify the theoretical analysis and prediction above, an active clamp forward converter with hybrid-driven synchronous rectification (ACFC-HDSR) is brought out at the final.

Abstract:This paper presents a 45w (20V, 2.25A) output active clamped flyback (ACF) AC-DC controller using a capacitor-coupled integrated digital isolator in isolated communication in place of a bulky optocoupler, which not only helps to reduce system volume but also improves the reliability of the ACF converter. In contrast with the conventional ACF, the controller in this paper features a delicate adaptive zero voltage switching (ZVS) control to reduce conduction and switching losses so as to improve the power efficiency. Designed in a 0.18-& mu;m isolated BCD process, the simulation result shows the proposed ACF converter approached 95.1% maximum efficiency when GaN power transistors are used as power switches. The feasibility of the proposed digital isolator is also verified and exhibits high transmission accuracy with low propagation delay.

Abstract:This paper proposes a wide range dual switch forward-flyback with current-doubler rectifier (CDR) converter which adopts staggered clamp structure with two symmetrical RCD type circuit. U overcomes the shortcoming that duty ratio cannot be more than 50% of conventional dual switch forward converters. Compared with the conventional single switch active-clamp forward-flyback converter with CDR, it maintains the advantages of wide voltage input and high efficiency, moreover, reduces the voltage stress of main switch to half of the former in a relative low cost and simple structure. The improved symmetrical RCD clamp structure are also recommended to be used in dual switch forward converter for high and wide range voltage input application, which is a kind of slight dissipative type clamp circuit for it enhances the magnetic reset efficiency greatly compared with conventional RCD clamp circuit. The principle of operation and characteristics of the novel converter are verified on a 200V similar to 400V input and 9.5V/15A output experimental prototype.
A Soft-switching Active-clamp Flyback Converter with Full ZVS-range

Abstract:An active clamp flyback converter, which can achieve ZVS in the whole operation range, is presented. This circuit can recycle transformer leakage energy, minimize switch voltage stress and provide a mechanism for achieving ZVS of both the primary and auxiliary switches. ZVS also limits the turn-off di/dt of the output rectifier, reducing rectifier switching losses, and switching noises due to diode reverse recovery. The behavior of the operation mode of this converter is analyzed and the design considerations for the key components and derices are given. The soft-switching characteristic of the converter is verified by a 100W prototype.

Abstract:Two different power circuit structures have been proposed for a five-level hybrid active neutral-point-clamped (5L HANPC) converters. In order to reduce the size/weight of the converter system, PCB-mounted film capacitors were selected as DC-link banks. The two arrangement of the existing power semiconductor modules are compared in this paper. The comparison includes dimension, weight, parasitic parameters, etc. Finite element models integrating multi-layer PCB and laminated copper bus-bar have been developed to evaluate the current ripple absorption and current sharing in the parallel-connected film capacitors. Simulation results demonstrate that the second power circuit structure are more suitable for high density applications in industry.

Abstract:The parameters of main magnetic devices in active clamped forward converter were analyzed,which have an effect on the circuit operation.The design requirements of magnetic inductance in main transformer,the influence of leakage inductance on the efficiency,and the effect of the gap position on AC resistance were presented.Based on analyses of the magnetic field of the core,finite element analysis(FEA) simulation using Ansoft was performed to study the typical winding schemes of transformers and inductors.Experimental results verify what have been analyzed,which are helpful in the design of magnetic devices.

Abstract:This paper researched the topology for two transistor forward converter,designed the LCD clamping circuit of the primary side switched tube and the RCD clamping circuit of second side freewheeling diode(FWD) respectively,analysed the working process of the two clamping circuits.This experiment developed a 1 kW power system successfully,proved stable jobs of the system and the maximum efficiency can come up to 92% of full load.

Abstract:In order to achieve Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) easier for both primary switch and auxiliary switch in the active clamp forward converter, an improved active-clamp ZVS forward converter topology is proposed in this paper. Compared with the conventional active-clamp forward converter, the improved one with an auxiliary network which is consisted of a clamp capacitor and an inductor could easily achieve ZVS in full-load range. Therefore the circuit efficiency is increased by reducing the switching loss of the switches. The operation principles of the proposed converter circuit are analyzed in detail and the performance is compared with the conventional. one. The design procedure and the experimental results are presented for a converter with a 230 V input; 14.4 V/10 A output. The experimental results match the theoretical analysis very well.

Abstract:Targeting at low-power high-density bus converter applications, a megahertz active-clamp resonant forward converter with whole-load-range zero-voltage switching and zero-current switching (ZVZCS) characteristics is proposed in this paper, which improves system efficiency performance. Compared with previous resonant forward converters, the proposed converter can effectively reduce the root-mean-square current and the conduction loss. To realize zero-voltage-switching turn ON of switch over the entire input voltage range, a dead-time control is adopted to account for the nonlinear capacitors of switches. Besides, given fixed resonant parameters, the ZVZCS feature can be maintained at various combinations of operating frequency and duty cycle, which is a unique advantage over conventional resonant converters. Based on this concept, a load-adaptive ON-time control that can significantly reduce core loss is proposed to improve the light-load efficiency. A 66-W 24-V-to-12-V prototype is built up to verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter, which achieves 96% full-load efficiency and 93.5% 10%-load efficiency.

Abstract:A chip-level design of 30 A load current and 93% peak efficiency for active clamping forward (ACF) converter is presented in this paper to improve the system performance and compactness for all load range and different input voltages. The topology of the low side ACF and self-driven synchronous rectification is adapted to low output voltage and large load current applications. A homologous IC controller with proposed technique of adaptive maximum duty cycle, slope compensation, and optional driver logic is designed. The IC controller is turned into different working states to cooperate different states of the system and functions for complete protection of overcurrent protection, over temperature protection, under voltage lockout, and soft shutdown. The controller chip is fabricated in 0.18 mu m BCD process. The experiment results show that 30 A full load current with a compact volume of 39 cm(3) and complete protection has been realized. The overshoot and undershoot of transient response are less than 200 mV at 5 A-25 A within 120 mu s and the peak efficiency of 93.0% is achieved.

Abstract:Feed-forward control can both reduce the size of the converter volume and reduce the cost of the converter when the active clamp flyback converter load is almost constant.On the basis of the analysis of the active clamp flyback converter working principle,and combined with the feed-forward features of the LM5025 device,the implementation of feed-forward control used in active clamp flyback converter is deeply studied based on the LM5025,and the parameters of the feed-forward control circuit is designed,and the active feed-forward flyback converter circuit is implemented.On this basis,the experimental study is carried,and the experimental results show the effectiveness and practicality of the feed-forward control of the active clamp flyback converter.

Abstract:The topology and operating principle of active clamp flyback converter was analyzed. A design method of the main component parameters of converter was proposed. A 6 W-640 kHz low power converter based on LM5025 was designed. Experimental results show that the voltage of main switch is clamped to a certain value, the zero-voltage turn-on is achieved with full input voltage, the power loss of main switch is reduced and the efficiency is improved.

Abstract:Considering the diode reverse recovery, an accurate design method of RCD circuit in flyback converter is proposed. The proposed method can achieve smaller clamp voltage errors and less power dissipation than traditional design method according to the design requests. In order to improve the design accuracy of clamp voltage and reduce the power loss, detailed analysis of RCD clamp circuit including diode reverse recovery charge is performed. Based on the analysis, the process of an accurate design method of RCD circuit is presented. Experiments are done to verify the analysis and the proposed design method through a 5V/1A flyback prototype.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel active clamp Flyback-Forward converter is proposed for large voltage gain and high power applications. The interleaved configuration on the primary side is employed to handle the large input current. An improved voltage doubler configuration is adopted on the secondary side to make the output diodes sustain only half of the high output voltage. Furthermore, the output diode voltage stress can be auto-balanced due to the inherent series structure of the coupled inductors. Therefore, the low voltage stress diodes can be used to enhance the circuit performance. Moreover, the active clamp circuits can be employed to recycle the leakage energy and absorb the possible turn-off voltage spikes on the primary power devices. In addition, zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) soft switching operation is achieved for all the active switches during the switching transition. The output diode reverse-recovery problem is alleviated due to the leakage inductance, leading to a great reduction of switching losses. Finally, a 40 V-input 380 V-output 1 kW prototype is built to demonstrate the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis.

Abstract:A dc-to-dc converter using GaN power device is proposed. Active clamped forward technique is adopted in conjunction with synchronous rectification. The implementation of a low-side active clamp forward converter shows the ability to demagnetize the transformer, thus leading to the leakage inductance energy recovery, voltage surge suppression for switching devices, zero voltage switching realization; Additionally, the conduction loss is also reduced and improve efficiency due to the output synchronous rectification circuit. Finally, implement a dc to dc converter that meets the railway system applications specifications with an input voltage of $43sim 160 V$, a full load output of 5 V/20A, and a switching frequency of 300 kHz for a 100 W circuit in order to verify the result of proposed converter. The experimental results of GaN FET and Si MOSFET are also compared with power conversion efficiency. The experimental results reveal that the maximum efficiency is 92.15% at 60% load and the full load efficiency is 90.5%.

Abstract:The inherent vice of forward DC-DC convertor is that it needs an assistant circuit for magnetic reset,and hard conductance of the MOSFET results in a low convertor efficiency.Active-clamp can reclaim the energy in magnetizing inductance to the input.The soft switch of the MOSFET in primary side can reduce switching loss to minimum value.An example was proposed in this paper to discuss the design of transformer and inductor in active-clamp DC-DC converter.In the design example,efficiency of higher than 90% and the load regulation within 1.3% were obtained for an output of 24V,which verify the excellent load regulation and high efficiency of single end active-clamp forward DC-DC converter.

Abstract:This paper presents an improved synchronous rectification circuit in Active-clamp Forward converter. With the auxiliary winding drive circuit, efficient gate driving voltage will be achieved with a wide input voltage range. The proposed self-driven synchronous rectification circuit will eliminate the body diode conduction loss and obtain the optimal gate driving signals. An Active-clamp Forward converter employing the improved synchronous rectification circuit is implemented to verify the theoretical analysis. The experimental results match the theoretical analysis very well.

Abstract:A forward-flyback converter with center-tapped transformer was introduced,and its operation principle was analyzed.The switching processes were analyzed in details.A 48 V input and 5 V/10 A output experimental prototype was built up.The experimental results show that,it has advantage in increasing transformer effective and reducing output inductance,the switches could realize zero voltage switching,and verify the theoretical analysis well.
