Abstract:Mobile target detection is a significant application in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). In fact, it is rather expensive to require every part of the region of interest (RoI) to be covered in a large-scale WSN for target detection. Trap coverage has been proposed to trade off between sensing performance and the cost of sensor deployments. It restricts the farthest distance that a target can move without being detected rather than providing full coverage to the region. However, the results cannot be directly applied in a real WSN since the detection pattern of a sensor in practical scenarios follows a probabilistic sensing model. Moreover, the trap coverage model does not consider the various moving speeds of targets, which is important for trapping targets. To extend the concept of mobile target trapping into a real large-scale WSN, we analyze the detection probability of a mobile target in the sensor network theoretically and define probabilistic trap coverage in this paper, which restricts the farthest displacement of a mobile target with a detection probability less than the threshold. We develop the theory of circle graph, which can be generally applied in the area of intrusion detection such as trap coverage and barrier coverage. We further study the practical issue of how to schedule sensors to maximize the lifetime of a network while guaranteeing probabilistic trap coverage. A localized protocol is proposed to solve the problem, and the performance of the protocol is theoretically analyzed. The lower bound of lifetime acquired by the protocol is nearly half the optimum lifetime. To evaluate our design, we perform extensive simulations to compare our algorithm with the state-of-the-art solution and demonstrate the superiority of our algorithm.

Abstract:Spider known as Web crawler,a program for capturing network resources,is widely used in the field of search engines.However,it also raises many problems such as privacy leakage and copyright dissension.Therefore,it is necessary to take measures to detect and restrict the Web crawler's behavior.This paper firstly briefly reviewed the current achievements in Web crawler's detection and the utilization of the trap technique for this purpose.And then,a structural trap technique was proposed to construct Website models and corresponding detection algorithms.Finally the authors measured the sensitivity of the model and summarized its performance.The results indicate that the precision stemming from the structural trap technique is generally consistent with the one from artificial analyses.
On Energy-Efficient Trap Coverage in Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract:In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), trap coverage has recently been proposed to trade off between the availability of sensor nodes and sensing performance. It offers an efficient framework to tackle the challenge of limited resources in large-scale sensor networks. Currently, existing works only studied the theoretical foundation of how to decide the deployment density of sensors to ensure the desired degree of trap coverage. However, practical issues, such as how to efficiently schedule sensor node to guarantee trap coverage under an arbitrary deployment, are still left untouched. In this article, we formally formulate the Minimum Weight Trap Cover Problem and prove it is an NP-hard problem. To solve the problem, we introduce a bounded approximation algorithm, called Trap Cover Optimization (TCO) to schedule the activation of sensors while satisfying specified trap coverage requirement. We design Localized Trap Coverage Protocol as the localized implementation of TCO. The performance of Minimum Weight Trap Coverage we find is proved to be at most O (ρ) times of the optimal solution, where ρ is the density of sensor nodes in the region. To evaluate our design, we perform extensive simulations to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm and show that our algorithm achieves at least 14% better energy efficiency than the state-of-the-art solution.

Abstract:Unlike traditional defense concepts, active defense is an asymmetric defense concept. It can not only identify potential threats in advance and nip them in the bud but also increase the attack cost of unknown threats by using change, interference, deception, or other means. Although active defense can reverse the asymmetric situation between attacks and defenses, current active defense technologies have two shortcomings: (i) they mainly aim at detecting attacks and increasing the cost of attacks without addressing the underlying problem; and (ii) they have problems such as high deployment costs and compromised system operational efficiency. This paper proposes an active defense architecture based on trap vulnerability with vulnerability as the core and introduces its design concept and specific implementation scheme. We deploy “traps” in the system to lure and find attackers while combining built-in detection, rejection, and traceback mechanisms to protect the system and trace the source of the attack.

Abstract:This Springer Brief presents recent research results on area coverage for intruder detection from an energy-efficient perspective. These results cover a variety of topics, including environmental surveillance and security monitoring. The authors also provide the background and range of applications for area coverage and elaborate on system models such as the formal definition of area coverage and sensing models. Several chapters focus on energy-efficient intruder detection and intruder trapping under the well-known binary sensing model, along with intruder trapping under the probabilistic sensing model. The brief illustrates efficient algorithms rotate the duty of each sensor to prolong the network lifetime and ensure intruder trapping performance. The brief concludes with future directions of the field. Designed for researchers and professionals working with wireless sensor networks, the brief also provides a wide range of applications which are also valuable for advanced-level students interested in efficiency and networking.

Abstract:Trace detection in security applications is able to quickly detect traces of contraband substances in the field, providing important evidence for subsequent security measures, thus effectively supporting counterterrorism and explosive disposal activities. After 20 years of field application, trace detection has become an indispensable part of security inspection solutions. This study focuses on the application of trace detection in global aviation security, from the development of trace detection technology in its historical context, to serious explosive threats and terrorist incidents, the evolution of international regulations and technical standards,the Concept of Operations（CONOPS） of explosive trace detection equipment, the application in checkpoint screening/hold baggage screening/air cargo screening and landside security. Then it evaluates the status-quo application and technical limits from the perspectives of security, efficiency, passenger experience and operational cost. Finally it introduces several representative innovations in trace detection including detection performance improvement, novel sampling methods, automatic self-screening and technological integration/fusion, etc. By envisioning trace detection in the future, this paper humbly presents some rational and optimistic assumptions,endeavoring to offer some enlightening insights for technology workers in the field of security and users of security technologies.

Abstract:"Tacitus Trap" is a hot research topic in China in recent years. However, first of all, there are some misinterpretations and misunderstandings in the naming of "Tacitus trap". In fact, Pan Zhichang’s contribution to the naming of the "Tacitus Trap" is indisputable. Secondly, in terms of the connotation of "Tacitus trap", which is not aimed at the problem of credibility, but the public power behind the credibility. It reveals the secret of the two challenges of "hunger" and "fear" in the process of civilization. Moreover, the maximization of food and clothing is even worse than the minimization of fear. Therefore, the ability to defuse social risks is closely related to the crossing of the Tacitus Trap.

Abstract:In this paper, a new method named Incremental Trap-Response (ITR) is proposed for characterizing the time constants of switching oxide traps, which can be used to expand the voltage detectable window of RTN. Both theoretical and experimental results demonstrate that the new ITR method has higher accuracy and is more time-efficient than recently proposed Statistical Trap-Response (STR) method, thus is helpful for trap-related research on both reliability and variability.

Abstract:Through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with 38 practitioners, this research provides an explanation for the high pretrial detention rate in China by examining the underlying mechanisms as to how prosecutors make their decisions in practice. Three legal conditions for pretrial detention that should be simultaneously satisfied, ie, evidence condition, penalty condition and necessity condition, are either distortedly enforced or hardly enforced in practice. The complexity of enforcement of the legal requirements makes the "fewer and more cautious detention[s]" policy hardly realised in China. The implementation of China's pretrial detention also suggests that fact-finding, though of the utmost importance in China's criminal justice system, might sometimes make a concession to crime control. Also, compared to fact-finding and crime control, protection of human rights and due process of law are usually under-evaluated.

Abstract:There are four manifest features in Chinese police interrogation proceedings, namdy, compellability of the interrogation, the closure of the process, the direct admissibility of the statements obtained and transcription of them, and the lack of adequate remedies for illegal interrogation. In order to solve these problems, efforts must be made to systemize the police interrogation in accordance with the due process of law, balancing the police's power to interrogate with the suspect's freedom to make a statement or remain in silence, and improving corresponding institutions. As to concrete steps in the legislation, a right of silence for the suspect suitable to domestic situations should be established so as to minimize the compellability of interrogation; the means of record of the police interrogation must be revised to make it “visible”; the law assistance should be upgraded to enhance the suspect's ability to resist illegal interrogation, and the exclusionary rule of illegally obtained confessions must also be more enforceable. All these steps should be taken in revision of the forthcoming Law of Criminal Procedure Code.

Abstract:The arrest measure regulated in Articles 100 and following of the Criminal Procedure Code is a measure that is temporarily applied to a person under suspicion of crime, in the presence of reasons written in the law, restricting freedom, until his release or a final verdict. The main thing in Criminal Procedure is to collect the evidence and conclude the trial within a reasonable time and make a decision. A balance must be struck between this measure, which is implemented for the public good, and the rights of the suspect, who has human rights. In this study, the concept of detention, which is one of the protection measures for expression, interrogation, the quality of the detention measure, its duration, the conditions, the problems encountered in the application of the detention interrogation, the types of these problems, are discussed in the light of sample judicial decisions. the work has been completed.
