Abstract:Based on many achievements and experiences in artificial intelligence and software engineering about program design automation, a new special-domain and stepwise intelligent development method is proposed in this paper. Referencing to the lifecycle method and the prototype method, the intelligent developments of detail design, outline design and requirement analysis are discussed in detail successively. Then the relations among those three intelligent development steps are explained clearly. Finally, the characteristics and the advantages of this method are analyzed in depth, which shows that it is a feasible development way for intelligent information system.

Abstract:Literature on China's imperial examination(IE) refers to historical documents which record IE system and its operation.It can be understood in a broad or narrow sense.Narrowly or strictly speaking,it refers to independent and specific documents,whereas in a broad sense it includes both independent and un-independent documents.IE literature comes in a great variety and huge amounts and has its own systematicity and value for international scholars on IE but has suffered from deplorable negligence.It is however being increasingly recognized for its value for research rather than being treated as worthless material as it was before.It is argued that IE literature proves a strong pillar which together with other pillars supports the disciplinary structure of IE study and an indispensable basis upon which researchers can build IE study,a specialized field of study with broad prospects for development,into a distinguished academic discipline.

Abstract:Concolic testing (or dynamic symbolic execution) is an automatic test case generation technique that combines concrete and symbolic execution of the system under test [1]. Symbolic execution employs program analysis to gather constraints on the execution path of the current concrete test input (the path condition). The obtained path condition can then be systematically negated and solved using a constraint solver in order to obtain new test inputs that exercise alternative paths. However, one of the main challenges of concolic testing is the path explosion problem, which makes an exhaustive exploration of the search space intractable. As a result, recent work has proposed advanced search strategies that aim to alleviate this problem, including techniques based on model checking [4] or pattern mining [2]. In this seminar, after examining the theoretic foundations of concolic testing and its traditional search strategies (e.g., DFS, BFS), the student is required to investigate and discuss recent advanced search strategies for concolic testing. The student should compare different approaches and give insights into future research.

Abstract:The examination method is an important part of teaching theory. A new examination method combined lots of examination modes, such as uniform examination mode, interviewing mode, additional score mode by designing an object or writing a paper, and do-it-yourself mode, i.e., self-question, self-answer and self-comment, which is a reasonable link between uniform examination and free exertion, has been put forward by integrating common basic platform with synthetic enhancement. Finally, the score will be given on the basis of the assessment mode reform.

Abstract:This paper puts forward a kind of novel methodology for software system development, from the point of view of the problem existed in software development -- the gap between the requirement specification level and the program implementation level. We attempt to begin from the specification level of software development to touch the process of high-level specification construction profoundly. We propose a specification language to support multiple semantic dimensions and based on which build a unified functional model of software system in a specific domain. On the bases of these, we apply transformation and refinement methods to the model and transit it from the specification level to the implementation level. We expect such a process can change the current software producing procedure in nature. We also put this methodology into the application of the software development in real-time serving domain we focus on, which turns out to be encouraging.

Abstract:In order to explore and establish scientific and diversified evaluation methods,we introduced a research-oriented teaching and evaluation system,i.e.exam exemption for excellent students,which has been proposed for the Microcomputer Principle and Interface Technique course as students have different academic performance.This new evaluation system is a departure from traditional simplex examination methods and a breakthrough for evaluation methods.It establishes a diversified assessment method which centers around project learning and encourages initiative.Besides,it promotes the teaching style which focuses upon principles and aims at the application of knowledge.This new evaluation reform has been implemented over the past several years and proved successful.It not only improves students' learning enthusiasm and initiative,but also gives full play to the potential and creativity of outstanding students.

Abstract:Software testing is a critical element of software quality assurance and represents the ultimate review of specification, design and coding. Software testing is the process of testing the functionality and correctness of software by running it. Software testing is usually performed for one of two reasons: defect detection, and reliability estimation. The problem of applying software testing to defect detection is that software can only suggest the presence of flaws, not their absence (unless the testing is exhaustive). The problem of applying software testing to reliability estimation is that the input distribution used for selecting test cases may be flawed. The key to software testing is trying to find the modes of failure - something that requires exhaustively testing the code on all possible inputs. Software Testing, depending on the testing method employed, can be implemented at any time in the development process.

Abstract:Quality of software intensive systems is the priority concern and focus in industry and the research community. In practice, the increasing demand for experienced software developers in industry requires developers mature themselves in a timely manner to be able to produce high quality programs. It has become a realistic challenge to both software engineering educators and researchers. To address this challenge, we devised the PSP+ process, in particular for students majored in software engineering, that enhances the original PSP (Personal Software Process) with an ultimate goal at Defect-Free Programming (DFP). Based on the original PSP, the PSP+ incorporates a set of explicitly defined practices to facilitate experience gaining and sharing among students with the special concern on DFP. This paper elaborates the proposed PSP+ process and also reports a controlled experiment that was designed and executed to investigate the effectiveness of the PSP+ within an educational setting. The experiment results indicate that students using the PSP+ are more likely to perform high quality programming without extra effort. They also gain higher confidence with DFP compared to those using the original PSP.

Abstract:The success of a software organization relies heavily on the quality of its products and services, which in turn are influenced by the knowledge, capability, and experience of the software engineers involved in development processes. It is popular to apply quantitative assessments of software engineers for quality assurance. However, the extent to which it benefits software organizations and how it can be effectively implemented in industrial settings remains unclear. One global Information and Communications Technology (ICT) enterprise has implemented a quantitative assessment practice of software engineer's outputs to improve its engineering capability and product and service quality. To investigate the benefits and experiences of adopting this practice in industrial settings, we conducted an empirical study using a mixed-method approach (i.e., archive analysis, interviews, and surveys). The results indicate that this practice can benefit the ICT enterprise in terms of standardizing development processes, optimizing team structures, and offering suggestions for training and management, etc. Meanwhile, this paper reports on the best practices to tackle the challenges during the adoption of the practice in the ICT enterprise, e.g., customization for teams and synergy of quantitative and qualitative assessment. In addition, we discuss the implications and recommendations of institutionalizing quantitative engineer assessment in software organizations. For organizations intending to improve software quality from the human aspect, this study provides empirical references on how to implement quantitative engineer assessment meanwhile mitigate potential risks.
