A Regionalized Evaluation Method for Indirect Lightning Stroke Flashover Rate in 10kv Distribution Networks

Abstract:Lightning damage is one of the main factors that interfere with the reliable transmission of electrical energy in 10kV distribution networks. An effective lightning risk evaluation is a prerequisite for carrying out the lightning protection design. Due to the low insulation level of 10kV distribution network, induction lightning damage is obvious. Reducing the indirect lightning stroke flashover rate can effectively reduce the overall lightning stroke flashover rate of 10kV distribution network. At the same time, the distribution network has the characteristics of short length, many branches and widely distributed, and lacks detailed line parameters. Compared with the transmission lines of 110kV and above, a regionalized lightning damage evaluation is more needed for 10kV distribution. In this paper, a regionalized evaluation method for indirect lightning stroke flashover rate is proposed. With grid method, the normalized calculated values of the indirect lightning stroke flashover rate in each grid are obtained by considering the relationship between lightning ground flash density, altitude, and the effect of building shielding on the indirect lightning stroke flashover rate, which can be used for lateral comparison of induction lightning damage between regions, discovering areas with serious induction lightning damage, and achieving the optimal allocation of lightning protection resources.
