Abstract:As the material basis of clinical examination, in -vitro diagnostic reagent could directly affect the timeliness and accuracy of clinical examination report if it was not uses properly. This article discusses about how to strengthen the management for the temperature monitoring, effect management, inventory management and cost-benefit analysis of in-vitro diagnostic reagents. An information management system that provides methods for fine management of in-vitro diagnostic reagents has been developed.

Abstract:Objective Large medical equipment can provide support for medical education and research in hospitals,which also reflects the diagnosis and treatment level of hospitals.Due to that,to safely and efficiently maintain large medical equipments is of great importance and preventive maintenance(PM) for ensuring proper equipment running.Methods Parts/components and external environments of CT,MR and DSA were analyzed.Results Preventive maintenance norms to regional large medical equipment like CT,MR and DSA were worked out.Conclusion Development plan for preventive maintenance is proposed which offers reference for hospitals in carrying out such work.

Abstract:Random variable is introduced to assess the effect of Preventive Maintenance(PM)for industrial equipments.At the aim of the minimal average cost per unit time,and supposing that the parameter assessing the effect of PM has rectangular distribution,the optimal maintenance model is formulated and simulated.The simulation result shows that the PM model with random variable can reduce the growing tendency of the failure rate and the average cost per unit time effectively,and therefore the optimal model is better than ever.This approach can be used for scheduling the maintenance plan and providing the decision supporting for job shop scheduling.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:Improve the integrity of the digestive electron microscope equipment and reduce the cost of equipment failure maintenance.METHODS:By studying the composition and function of the digestive electron microscope system and analyzing the causes of common faults, a targeted preventive maintenance plan is developed, equipment users are graded, and a training system is established.RESULTS:The user of the device can skillfully analyze the cause of the malfunction and timely deal with the sudden failure of the diagnosis and treatment, thereby reduce the risk of diagnosis and treatment and the investment in hospital maintenance.CONCLUSIONS:Through the analysis and processing of the digestive electron microscope system, point detection leakage, grading training, preventive maintenance can significantly improve the equipment integrity rate, reduce the risk of clinical diagnosis and treatment, effectively reduce the number of equipment failures, and reduce maintenance costs.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To optimize the maintenance quality management of MRI equipment and ensure the quality and safety of its clinical use.METHODS:The data of failure time and repair time of a MRI equipment in three years were collected by magnetic resonance repair report system, and then the reliability, availability and maintainability(RAM) were studied and analyzed.RESULTS:The results of reliability analysis showed that the communication module was the key subsystem of the MRI equipment. The results of usability analysis showed that RF module was a key subsystem of MRI equipment. Maintainability results showed that the proportion of the MRI equipment not fully utilized due to maintenance-related problems was 2.58%. In order to improve the availability of MRI equipment, the maintenance time of MRI equipment should be shortened.CONCLUSIONS:RAM-based analysis of MRI equipment can help hospital equipment managers to carry out the work of operation optimization, maintenance strategy formulation and safety management of MRI equipment.

Abstract:Objective To carry out quantitative analysis on maintenance staff assignment for Equipment Departments in hospitals so as to provide an optimum reference to staff assignment.Methods The effects on maintenance cost by maintenance staff were analyzed based on the investigation data on hospital assets and human resources from 2006 to 2008 in Shanghai.Results The negative correlation between the maintenance staff and the maintenance cost was confirmed with an increasing proportion of medical equipment in fixed assets in hospitals.Conclusion The research can efficiently improve the economic benefits of hospitals and offer suggestions for maintenance staff assignment.

Abstract:Objectives:To explore the status quo and problems of emergency and life support medical equipment management and to give some advices for further improvement.Methods:Literature review,experts consultation,questionnaire and tracer method were joint used and data were analyzed by SPSS 20.0.Results:There is low awareness on admission and allocation,operation and maintenance of emergency and life support equipment.Problems such as ambiguous definition and operation guideline,lack of quantity management concept and the blocked emergency allocation also existed.Conclusions:It needs to put tracer test tool as a regular management method in emergency and life support equipment management,revising annual management plan based on risk assessment results,completing emergency allocation mechanism under the consideration of cost benefit analysis,strengthening staff operation training and assessment and using information system improving management efficiency to promote emergency and life support equipment management and secure patient safety.

Abstract:ABSTRACT:Objective To estimate the value of PDCA circulation method in standardizing and improving the effect of infection control in radiology department .Methods 80 medical staffs (including five nurses ) from the department of diagnostic radiology were assessed and conducted a questionnaire survey about hand hygiene ,medical waste disposal ,indoor air disinfection and venipuncture aseptic operation (only for nurses) by three times PDCA circle .Assessment results of the above four indicators were compared before and after the implementation of PDCA .Results The participant's qualification rate of hands washing indication ,standard and bacterial culture before and after performing PDCA were 38 .75% and 87 .50% ,50 .00% and 93 .75% ,76 .25% and 97 .50% , respectively .The significant difference was found between before and after the implementation of PDCA ( P<0.001) .Moreover ,the participant's rate of mastery about common medical waste classification and medical waste collection requirements before and after performing PDCA were 20 .00% and 86 .25% ,46 .25% and 88 .75% , respectively .There was also a significant difference between before and after the implementation of PDCA ( P<0.001) .The qualification rate of indoor air disinfection increased from 68 .18% to 95 .45% after PDCA was implemented ,with a significant difference ( P= 0 .019 ) . The qualification rate of nurse aseptic venipuncture operation increased from 80 .00% to 98 .00% after PDCA was implemented ,also with a significant difference ( P<0 .001) .Conclusion The performance of PDCA circulation can effectively improve the effect of infection control in the radiology department .

Abstract:With the introduction of the medical equipment supervision and management regulations and other related systems, the supervision over medical equipment is also constantly enhanced. According to the large-scale equipment maintenance quality inspection among the medical institutions under Class II (including private ones), feedback of current situation has been collected and analyzed. Some suggestions are put forward to further improve the large-scale medical equipment maintenance quality, such as the establishment of core maintenance parameter tables, quality evaluation database and customer satisfaction evaluation.

Abstract:Objective To explore the key factors which affect maintenance cost of large-scale medical equipment. Methods The basic factors which affect maintenance cost of medical imagining equipment were summarized. The relationships of them are analyzed and then an interpretative structure mode of each factor was set. Additionally, the multiple relationship and controllability between each factor were also analyzed and the judging standard of key factors was set. Results The maintenance policy and mode were the key factors which affect maintenance cost of medical imagining equipment. Conclusion High quality maintenance for equipment condition and scientific optimization of the maintenance policy are necessary to fundamentally reduce the maintenance cost of large-scale medical equipment.

Abstract:Objective To improve the levels of hospital management in radiological diagnosis and radiotherapy area.Methods The application of project management thinking and SWOT analysis were applied before the start of the project.Setting management goals,developing a precise project plan,strengthening the construction of the system and communication platform,and making full use of Comprehensive appraisal of clinical department,all the measures were helpful to enhance the compliance of employees together with good service.Results The rate of radiation workers management and radiation workplace and equipment management index reached almost 100％ from a low level.Conclusion Using project management thinking to construct the radiological diagnosis and radiotherapy management system was crucial to promote management level.

Abstract:Purpose Medical technologies and assets are one of the main drivers of increasing healthcare cost. The rising number and complexity of medical equipment have forced hospitals to set up and regulate medical equipment management programs to ensure critical devices are safe and reliable. The purpose of this paper is to gain insights into maintenance management-related activities for medical equipment. The paper proposes applying a tailored reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) approach for maintenance activities selection for medical equipment. Such approach will support assets management teams in enhancing operation, decrease risk and cost, and ultimately improve health of patients served by these equipment. Design/methodology/approach The traditional RCM approach will be used with a focus on criticality reduction. By criticality, the authors refer to the severity of failures and occurrence. The proposed method relies on the use of reliability growth analysis for opportunity identification followed by a thorough failure mode and effect analysis to investigate major failure modes and propose ways to reduce criticality. The effectiveness of the proposed method will be demonstrated using a case of one of the leading obstetric and gynecological hospitals in United Arab Emirates and in the Gulf Cooperation Council region. Findings The case examines the relationship between the current practice of planned preventive maintenance and the failure rates of the equipment during its life span. Although a rigorous preventive maintenance program is implemented in the hospital under study, some critical equipment show an increasing failure rates. The analysis highlights the inability of traditional time-driven preventive maintenance alone in preventing failures. Thus, a systematic RCM approach focused on criticality is more beneficial and more time and cost effective than traditional time-driven preventive maintenance practices. Practical implications The study highlights the need for utilizing RCM approach with criticality as the most important prioritization criterion in healthcare. A proper RCM implementation will decrease criticality and minimize the risk of failure, accidents and possible loss of life. In addition to that, it will increase the availability of equipment, and reduce cost and time. Originality/value This paper proposes a maintenance methodology that can help healthcare management to improve availability and decrease the risk of critical medical equipment failures. Current practices in healthcare facilities have difficulty identifying the optimal maintenance strategy. Literature focused on medical maintenance approach selection is rather limited, and this paper will help in this discussion. In addition to that, the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation supports the initiative of adopting RCM on a large scale in healthcare. Therefore, this paper address the gap in the literature for medical equipment maintenance and the work is in line with the recommendation of leading healthcare association. The paper also presents statistical review of the total number of received maintenance work orders during one full year in the hospital under study. The analysis supports the need for more research to examine current practice and propose more effective maintenance approaches.
