Abstract:A new steroidal glycoside (1), (25R)-14α, 17α-hydroxyspirost-5-en-3β-yl 3-O-α-L-rhamnpyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-β-D-glucopyranoside, together with three known steroidal glycosides, (25R)-3β-hydroxyspirost-5-en-1β-yl-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-α-L-arabinopyranoside (2), Cixi-ophiopogon B (3) and Cixi-ophiopogon A (4), were obtained from the tuberous roots of Ophiopogon japonicus (Liliaceae). Compound 2 was isolated from the Ophiopogon genus for the first time. Their structures were identified on the basis of extensive mass and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic analysis.

Abstract:A new compound, 4-O-caffeoyl-D-glucopyranose (1), and a new natural product, 3-O-caffeoyl-D-glucopyranose (2), together with six known compounds (3-8) were isolated from the aerial parts of Lygodium japonicum. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic data analyses. The oxygen radical absorbance capacity assay was applied to evaluate their antioxidative capacities in vitro, which revealed that 1-8 showed strong antioxidative properties.

Abstract:A new phenolic glycoside, ophiopojaponin D ( 1 ), together with two known compounds, was isolated from the tubers of a famous traditional Chinese herb -Ophiopogon japonicus Ker-Gawl. The spectroscopic and chemical data revealed their structures to be β-tetradecyloxy-4-hydroxy-allylbenzene-4-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1→6)-ß-D-glucopyranoside ( 1 ), 3, 4-dihy-droxy-allylbenzene-4-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1→6)-ß-D-glucopyranoside ( 2 ) and L-pyro-glutamic acid ( 3 ).

Abstract:To investigate the chemical constituents from the aerial parts of Lygodium japonicum. Methods:Various chromatographic techniques were employed for isolation and purification of the constituents. The structures were elucidated by chemical evidence and spectral methods. Results:A new stigmasterol glycoside,(24R)-stigmastan-3β,5α,6β-triol 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (1),together with three known phenolic glycosides:6-O-p-coumaroyl-D-glucopyranose (2),6-O-caffeoyl-D-glucopyranose (3),1-O-(E)-caffeoyl-β-D-gentiobiose (4) were obtained and identified by spectroscopic methods. Conclusion:All compounds were isolated from Lygodiaceae for the first time.

Abstract:A new phenolic glycoside, 6-O-(4'-hydroxy-3',5'-dimethoxybenzoyl)-D-glucopyranose (4), and nine known compounds (1-3 and 5-10) were isolated from Juglans mandshurica Maxim. Compound structures were elucidated by NMR, HR-ESI-MS and acid hydrolysis. Compounds 5 and 6 are reported from this genus for the first time. Among compounds 1-10, only 1 exhibited cytotoxicity against MGC-803, A549, K562, JAR, HeLa, CaSKi and SiHa cell lines (IC50: 2.0, 5.3, 2.3, 6.9, 4.0, 6.6 and 2.7 mu M, respectively).

Abstract:Five new phenolic glycosides, 2-beta-D-glucopyranosyloxy-5-hydroxyphenylacetic acid methyl ester (4), 4-hydroxy-2-[3-hydroxy-3-methylbutyl]-5-methylphenyl beta-D-glucopyranoside (5), 4-hydroxy-2-[(E)-4-hydroxy-3-methyl-2-butenyl]-5-methylphenyl beta-D-glucopyranoside (7), 4-hydroxy-2-[(2E,6Z)-8-beta-D-glucopyranosyloxy-3,7-dimethylocta-2,6-dien-1-yl]-5-methylphenyl beta-D-glucopyranoside (8), and 2,7-dimethyl-1,4-dihydronaphthalene-5,8-diol 5-O-beta-D-xylopyranosyl(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (10), were isolated from the whole plants of Pyrola japonica (Pyrolaceae), together with androsin, (-)-syringaresinol glucoside, homoarbutin, pirolatin, hyperin, monotropein and chimaphilin.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To study the chemical constituents of the herb of Lygodium japonicum.METHODS:The constituents isolated by column chromatography and their structrues were elucidated through spectroscopic analysis.RESULTS:The compounds were identified as 3,4-dihydroxyl benzoic acid 4-O-beta-D-(4'-O-methyl) glucopyranoside (I), protocatechuic acid (II), acacetin 7-O-(6'-O-a-L-rhamnopyranosyl)-beta-sophoroside (III), 6,8-di-glucosylapigenin (vinenin) (IV), tricin-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (V), 2-anilino-1,4-naphthoquinone (VI).CONCLUSION:All these compounds are obtained from Lygodiaeae for the first time.

Abstract:Several kinds of column chromatography methods were used to investigate the chemical constituents of roots of Polygonum multiflorum. The structures of the isolated compounds were identified based on their physicochemical properties, spectral data and chemical methods. A new chromone glycoside was isolated and its structure was identified as (S)-2-(2'-hydroxypropyl)-5-methyl7-hydroxychromone-7-0-alpha-L-fucopyranosyl (1-->2)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1).

Abstract:One new coumarin glycoside, lysidiforin A (1), and two new phloroglucinol glycosides, lysidiforin B-C (2 and 3), along with six known compounds (4-9) were isolated from the roots of Lysidice rhodostegia. The structures of compounds 1-3 were elucidated by the interpretation of extensive spectroscopic analyses (1D and 2D NMR, ESI-MS and HR-ESI-MS). All of the isolated compounds were evaluated regarding their antioxidant activities with a DPPH radical scavenging bioassay. Compounds 6-9 exhibited weak activities. The observed antioxidant activities of compounds 6-9 may be related to the number of phenolic hydroxyl groups.

Abstract:A new phenolic glycoside 1, together with two known compounds (2, 3), has been isolated from the ethanolic extract of Polygonatum sibiricum F. Delaroche. Its structure was elucidated as (2R)-syringylpropane-1,3-diol-1-O-β-D-glucopyranoside by spectroscopic data (1H NMR, 13C NMR, HSQC, HMBC, and HR-ESI-MS) and chemical evidence. In the in vitro assay, compound 1 displayed potent inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase with an IC50 value of 10.90 μM.

Abstract:A new sesquiterpenoid glycoside, cryptomeridiol 11-O-β-d-xylopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-d- glucopyranoside (1), two new phenylpropanoid glycosides, 3,4-dihydroxy-allylbenzene 3-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-4-O-β-d-apiofuranosyl-(1→6)-β-d-glucopyranoside (2), and 3,4,5-trihydroxy-allylbenzene 3-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-4-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (3), along with four known phenylpropanoid glycosides (4-7), were isolated from the tuber of Ophiopogon japonicus. Compounds 4-7 were obtained from the genus Ophiopogon for the first time. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including 1D and 2D NMR and HR-ESI-MS.

Abstract:A total of twelve compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate of the water extract of honey-fried Eriobotrya japonica through column chromatography over silica gel,Sephadex LH-20,RP-18,and preparative HPLC. Their structures were established by MS,1 D NMR and 2 D NMR data as japonicanoside A( 1),nerolidol-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-( 1→2)-β-D-glucopyranoside( 2),nerolidol-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-( l→4)-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-( 1 → 2)-[α-L-( 4-trans-feruloyl)-rhamnopyranosyl-( 1 → 6) ]-β-D-glucopyranoside( 3),( +)-catechin( 4),(-)-epicatechin( 5),kaempferol 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside( 6),quercitrin( 7),quercetin-3-O-β-D-galactopyranoside( 8),quercetin-3-O-β-glucopyranoside( 9),vanillin( 10),protocatechuic aldehyde( 11),and maltol( 12). Among them,1 is a new phenolic glycoside.

Abstract:Phytochemical investigation of Eucommia ulmoides bark led to the isolation of a new phenolic glucoside which was named eucophenoside. The structure of eucophenoside was elucidated by extensive spectroscopic data analysis. In addition, seven known flavonoids were reported for the first time to be present in the bark of E. ulmoides: wogonin, oroxylin A, baicalein, 4,2',4'-trihydroxychalcone, (alpha R)-alpha,4,2',4'-tetrahydroxydihydrochalcone, (alpha R)-alpha-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-4,2', 4'-trihydroxydihydrochalcone, and wogonoside.

Abstract:Two new lignans, named lycojaponicumoside A (1) and B (2), together with four known compounds (3˗6) were isolated from the n-BuOH extract of Lycopodium japonicum. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods, especially various NMR techniques, HRESIMS and circular dichroism (CD). The absolute configuration of compound 1 was established by the calculation of electronic circular dichroism (ECD) curves. All of the compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activities against A549 and HepG2 human cancer cell lines, but those compounds did not exhibit cytotoxicity.
