Abstract:Chitosan and sodium lignosulfonate are alternately deposited on the interface of alkaline lignin‐based Pickering emulsions through electrostatic interaction, thus forming biomass‐based microcapsules with tunable shell. In addition to improving the stability, chitosan and lignin also endow the microcapsules with pH/laccase‐responsive properties. Therefore, the microcapsules have great potential for the protection and controlled release of photosensitive drugs, e.g., avermectin. The extremely low utilization efficiency of pesticides has driven people to develop low‐cost, sustainable, and smart delivery systems. Pickering emulsion (PE) derived from biomass is an attractive candidate. However, the stability of PE is insufficient, and pesticide release from PE can be hardly tuned. Herein, a facile in situ PE modification strategy to construct a stable and high‐performance pesticide delivery system from biomass resources is reported. In this process, PE stabilized by alkali lignin nanoparticles is initially prepared, and subsequently, opposite‐charged chitosan (CH), and sodium lignosulfonate (SL) are alternatively deposited onto the PE interface through layer‐by‐layer assembly to form a microcapsule system (CH+SL)n@PE. The resulting biomass‐based microcapsules show improved stability, high encapsulation efficiency, and super UV protection to avermectin (AVM), a hydrophobic and photo‐sensitive pesticide. Furthermore, the shell thickness of microcapsules can be finely tuned by controlling the deposited CH+SL layers, which enable (CH+SL)n@PE to have adjustable release behaviors. (CH+SL)20@PE prolongs the half‐life of AVM under UV irradiation by 5.0‐fold. Moreover, (CH+SL)n@PE exhibits pH and laccase dual responsiveness, which is beneficial to the targeted release of AVM in vivo. Therefore, the current PE modification strategy can provide an eco‐friendly, low‐cost, and smart system for precise delivery of pesticides.

Abstract:It is desirable for a simple and universal method to synthesize stimuli-responsive nanocarriers to targeted delivery of pesticides. In this study, a novel pH-value and laccase dual-responsive nanopesticide system loaded with lambda-cyhalothrin (LC) is established by iron mineralization after electrostatic self-assembly between sodium lignosulphonate (SL) and dodecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride (DDBAC). These nanoparticles are core–shell structures in which iron mineralization plays a key role in stabilizing the nanoparticles. This synthesis strategy is suitable for encapsulating hydrophobic and low-volatility compounds. The encapsulation of the nanocarriers prolongs the half-life of the LC under UV irradiation by 4.4-fold. After irradiation, the mortality of Agrotis ipsilon treated by the LC@SL/DDBAC/Fe is approximately 39% higher than that treated by emulsifiable concentrate (EC) at the concentration of 1 mg L−1. The dual-responsive property of lignin-based nanoplatform to alkalinity and laccase enable cargo release on demand. Although the toxicity of EC and LC@SL/DDBAC/Fe to A. ipsilon is similar, that of LC@SL/DDBAC/Fe to Brachydanio rerio is decreased by 11.57-fold, and the toxicity selective pressure is enhanced by 11-fold compared with EC. The SL/DDBAC/Fe nanocarriers represent a simple preparation procedure, excellent environmental safety, and dual-responsive release profiles and can offer a promising nanoplatform for precise pesticide delivery.

Synthesis and Characterization of Stimuli-Responsive Poly(2-dimethylamino-ethylmethacrylate)-Grafted Chitosan Microcapsule for Controlled Pyraclostrobin Release

Abstract:Controllable pesticide release in response to environmental stimuli is highly desirable for better efficacy and fewer adverse effects. Combining the merits of natural and synthetic polymers, pH and temperature dual-responsive chitosan copolymer (CS-g-PDMAEMA) was facilely prepared through free radical graft copolymerization with 2-(dimethylamino) ethyl 2-methacrylate (DMAEMA) as the vinyl monomer. An emulsion chemical cross-linking method was used to expediently fabricate pyraclostrobin microcapsules in situ entrapping the pesticide. The loading content and encapsulation efficiency were 18.79% and 64.51%, respectively. The pyraclostrobin-loaded microcapsules showed pH-and thermo responsive release. Microcapsulation can address the inherent limitation of pyraclostrobin that is photo unstable and highly toxic on aquatic organisms. Compared to free pyraclostrobin, microcapsulation could dramatically improve its photostability under ultraviolet light irradiation. Lower acute toxicity against zebra fish on the first day and gradually similar toxicity over time with that of pyraclostrobin technical concentrate were in accordance with the release profiles of pyraclostrobin microcapsules. This stimuli-responsive pesticide delivery system may find promising application potential in sustainable plant protection.

Abstract:With the increase in global food demand and the destruction of environment, the development of sustainable agriculture has become increasingly more important. Stimuli-responsive controlled-release agrochemicals enhance the bioavailability of active ingredients and reduce the frequency of use and environmental pollution. Herein, 3,3′-dithiodipropionic acid was used as a functional bridge to covalently link the degradable natural polymer zein and chitosan oligosaccharides (CS) to prepare a water-dispersed environmentally friendly pesticide carrier. Subsequently, via hydrophobic and hydrogen bonding interactions photo-decomposable avermectin (AVM) was encapsulated forming a stimuli-responsive intelligent nanopesticide delivery system (AVM@CS-SS-Zein) was developed by encapsulating in the carrier. AVM was released slowly from AVM@CS-SS-Zein particles in a neutral condition and was released rapidly under stimulation of glutathione and alkalinity in simulated insects. The photostability of AVM@CS-SS-Zein was improved by 6-fold compared with that of AVM and the nanoparticles had good adherence to the leaves, slowly releasing AVM and avoiding the light decomposition of active ingredients. When the pests ingest the leaves containing AVM@CS-SS-Zein, the rapid disintegration of the nanoparticles in vivo leads to a good insecticidal effect and the control rate of AVM@CS-SS-Zein on Plutella xylostella was higher than that of AVM. After 120 h of UV irradiation, the pest mortality rate of AVM@CS-SS-Zein was 46.7% while that of AVM and AVM emulsifiable concentrate was only 13.3% and 20.0%, respectively. Therefore, this pH/redox dual stimuli-responsive nanopesticide formulation achieves target control of pests and provides an efficient nanoplatform for green agriculture.

Abstract:A trisiloxane surfactant (TSS) was grafted onto an intermediate, formed by the reaction of allyl glycidyl ether (AGE) with carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS), to obtain amphiphilic CMCS-AGE-TSS. Avermectin (AVM) was used as a model pesticide and nanoparticles were prepared by self-assembly. The structures and morphologies of the nanoparticles were studied by FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy, XRD, SEM, TGA, DSC, and DLS techniques. The average particle size of was 210 nm, with encapsulation efficiency of 66 %. With increase in TSS content, the contact angle on the leaf surface decreased from 73.62° for CMCS to 49.32° for CMCS-AGE-TSS. The half-life of AVM encapsulated in the polymer shell increased from 45 min to 83 min. Moreover, sustained release of the drug showed a significant response to pH. Finally, the difference in toxicities between and pure AVM was not significant.

Abstract:The development of microencapsulation is currently blocked by the mismatch between the release rate and pest-control demand in terms of improving the photostability of pesticides. Achieving both long-term stability and quick release of pesticides through the use of microcapsules (MCs) is an effective way to increase pesticide efficiency. Sodium lignosulfonate and four types of polyalkyl quaternary ammonium salts (PQAS) were used as shell materials in the fabrication of four types of microcapsules by electrostatic self-assembly. The effects of the PQAS alkyl chain length on the morphology, zeta potential, molecular electrostatic potential, particle size distribution, encapsulation efficiency, release behaviour, anti-photolysis performance, and field application effects of the MCs were investigated. The four types of MCs were spherical and 0.5–3 μm in size, and they had an encapsulation efficiency of more than 75%. The X-ray diffraction results showed that the longer the alkyl chain of PQAS was, the looser the material formed by electrostatic attraction was. With the increase of the alkyl chain length of PQAS, the MCs shell was looser and easier to deform, leading to rapid nuclear release. Therefore, the MCs shells were looser and more prone to deformation with increasing PQAS alkyl chain length, resulting in the quick release of the core. This quick release of the core to the bottom of the microcapsules and the loose shell formed a double-layer structure, which effectively prevented ultraviolet degradation. Therefore, abamectin MCs with quick-release and favourable anti-photolysis performances showed advantages in controlling Plutella. xylostella and Pieris. rapae insect pests Octadecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride can be used to fabricate loose MCs by electrostatic self-assembly, which achieves both rapid and long-term pest control.

Abstract:Controlled release formulation of pesticides based on microcapsules is a promising strategy for improving utilization efficiency and reducing adverse effects caused by conventional pesticide formulations. However, the complex preparation process and use of toxic additives limit the development of microcapsules. Herein, a simple and green method was developed to prepare double-shelled CaCO 3 microcapsules of pesticide using the newly prepared prochloraz ionic liquid (PRO IL) as a nucleating agent to precipitate CaCO 3 on the surface of PRO IL micelles in situ and pectin as a coating agent without a complex post-loading process. The results showed that the obtained spherical microcapsules had pectinase and pH dual responsive release properties. The release of PRO from microcapsules belonged to a non-Fickian behavior controlled by the dissolution and diffusion. The photostability of obtained microcapsules was 1.58 times better than that of PRO EW. The fungicidal tests showed that microcapsules had a long-term efficacy against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and the control efficacy was 1.65 times that of PRO EW at the same concentration. The genotoxicity tests showed that PRO 3 @pectin microcapsules did not increase genotoxicity to cells of Vicia faba compared with PRO EW and encapsulation of pesticides in carriers could reduce genotoxicity of PRO IL to plants. These findings would provide a new strategy for the development of calcium carbonate-based microcapsules which could effectively increase the utilization efficiency of pesticides by improving the photostability and durability in environment.

Abstract:Complete pesticide nanocapsules were readily prepared through an “on site” FeIII-tannic acid (TA) coordination assembly based on oil/water microemulsions stabilized with different types of surfactants and with various pesticides dissolved in the oil phase after only one deposition cycle of Fe3+ and TA. This is a universal strategy suitable for the oil/water microemulsions stabilized with different types of surfactants and independent of the addition sequence of Fe3+ and TA. Surprisingly, the smart pesticide nanocapsules showed multidimensional on-demand controlled pesticide release (including acidic pH, alkaline pH, glutathione, ascorbic acid, H2O2, phosphate, phytic acid, and sunlight) as well as excellent resistance to rainwater erosion and ultraviolet photolysis. The examples of ascorbic acid- and phytic acid-triggered controlled release of loaded cargos (including pesticides or drugs) were reported for the first time, respectively. It is the first time that the 8 types of stimuli were integrated into one smart nanovehicle for the on-demand controlled release of encapsulated cargos (including pesticides and drugs). The multidimensional stimuli were closely relevant to the physiological and natural environments of crop plants, and the FeIII-TA wall materials were ultimately degraded in the crop plants. The nanocapsules loaded with the fungicide tebuconazole showed high fungicidal efficacy against fungi Rhizoctonia solani and Fusarium graminearum, and the nanocapsules loaded with the insecticide avermectin have high insecticidal efficacy against the pests Plutella xylostella, in comparison with conventional pesticide formulations. The facile, safe, controlled-release, and degradable pesticide nanocapsules show great application prospects in sustainable ecological agriculture.

Abstract:Pesticides play a crucial role in securing food production, their safety usage remains a pressing concern. Traditional pesticide formulations have been scrutinized for their inefficiency, environmental hazards, and negative impacts on human health. Here, sulfonated cellulose nanocrystals (sCNC) were utilized to stabilize molten lambda-cyhalothrin (LC), forming stable Pickering emulsions via high-pressure homogenization (HPH). This process was followed by the generation of microcapsules through interfacial polymerization, a method that entirely forgoes the use of surfactants and organic solvents. The synthesized microcapsules showcased a size ranging from 250 to 1000 nm, with an impressive LC encapsulation efficiency of up to 99.29 %. These microcapsules maintained excellent stability, prolonging pest control duration in field applications, and exhibited reduced toxicity to zebrafish. A particularly groundbreaking discovery was the ability of microcapsules to mitigate skin irritation, a benefit previously unexplored in LC microencapsulation. Furthermore, these microcapsules demonstrated significant degradation within 14 days post-application, effectively minimizing prolonged pesticide residue on crops. This study highlights the eco-friendly production of microcapsules and their capacity to diminish the negative impacts associated with pesticide application. It paves the way for the wider implementation of encapsulation technologies in pesticides and offers critical insights into the creation of sustainable, safe, and effective pesticide formulations.

Abstract:Controlled pesticide release in response to environmental stimuli by encapsulating pesticide in carrier is a feasible approach to improve the effective utilization rate. Here, a temperature-responsive release microcapsule loaded with chlorpyrifos () was prepared from n-hexadecane-in-water emulsions via interfacial polymerization. The microcapsule was consisted of nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) as the shell wall material and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) as the crosslinker. The prepared had pesticide-loading efficiency (33.1 wt%) and favorable adhesion on the surface of cucumber and peanut foliage compared with conventional formulation. Additionally, could protect chlorpyrifos against photodegradation effectively. The in vitro release test showed that microcapsule had adjustable controlled-release characteristics with the change in temperature based on phase transition of the n-hexadecane core. Bioassay studies showed that control efficacy of microcapsule against P. xylostella was positively correlated with temperature because of temperature-induced changes in release rate. The acute toxicity of to zebrafish was reduced more than 5-fold compared with that of CPF technical. These results indicated that the microcapsule release system has great potential in the development of an effective and environmentally friendly pesticide formulation.

Smart and Sustainable Crop Protection: Design and Evaluation of a Novel α-Amylase-Responsive Nanopesticide for Effective Pest Control

Abstract:In this study, an α-amylase-responsive controlled-release formulation was developed by capping polydopamine onto β-cyclodextrin-modified abamectin-loaded hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles. The prepared Aba@HMS@CD@PDA were subjected to characterization using various analytical techniques. The findings revealed that Aba@HMS@CD@PDA, featuring a loading rate of 18.8 wt %, displayed noteworthy release behavior of abamectin in the presence of α-amylase. In comparison to abamectin EC, Aba@HMS@CD@PDA displayed a significantly foliar affinity and improved rainfastness on lotus leaves. The results of field trail demonstrated a significantly higher control efficacy against Spodoptera litura Fabricius compared to abamectin EC at all concentrations after 7, 14, and 21 days of spaying, showcasing the remarkable persistence of Aba@HMS@CD@PDA. These results underscore the potential of Aba@HMS@CD@PDA as a novel and persistently effective strategy for sustainable on-demand crop protection. The application of nanopesticides can enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of pesticide utilization, contributing to more sustainable agricultural practices.
Layer-by-layer assembled decomposable nanocapsules for light-responsive release of pesticide imidacloprid on Aphis craccivora Koch

Abstract:Background: Conventional pesticide formulations are often inefficient because of low biological uptake after spraying. Controlled release nanopesticides can release pesticides precisely in response to specific stimuli, thereby killing pests and pathogens using the least effective concentration. This study aims to develop nanocapsule-based photo-decomposable nanopesticides for efficient pesticide control. Results: The target nanopesticides were successfully fabricated using layer-by-layer assembly of the negative azobenzene-grafted hyaluronic acid (azo-HA) and positive polydimethyldiallylammonium chloride (polyDADMAC), confirmed by UV-visible, dynamic light scattering, Zeta potential and transmission electron microscopy measurements. The particle size and Zeta potential of the fabricated nanocapsules were 220 nm and +46.1 mV, respectively, and the nanocapsules were found to remain stable for up to 30 days. The optimized drug loading and encapsulation ratio of imidacloprid (IMI) in IMI/azo-HA@polyDADMAC were 21.5% and 91.3%, respectively. Cumulative release of IMI from the nanopesticides increased from ~50% to ~95% upon UV light irradiation (365 nm). The half lethal concentration (LC50) value of the nanopesticides toward Aphis craccivora Koch decreased from 2.22 to 0.55 mg L-1 upon UV light irradiation. Conclusion: The trans to cis transformation of the azo group in HA decomposed IMI/azo-HA@polyDADMAC nanopesticides upon UV irradiation, thus facilitating the release of IMI, resulting in a decrease in the concentration of pesticides required for efficient pesticide control. Our work demonstrated the great potential of light-responsive nanocapsules as a controlled release nanocarrier for efficient and eco-friendly pesticide control in sustainable agriculture. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

Results: Different polyols (1,4-butanediol and glycerin) and polyamines (triethylenetetramine and isophorondiamine) were selected as crosslinkers to obtain emamectin benzoate (EB)-loaded poly(urethane-urea) MCs (PU-MCs) by interfacial polymerization. The four obtained PU-MCs showed sphericity with different degrees of smoothness on their surfaces, and displayed a uniform size distribution ranging from 500 to 700 nm. Moreover, transmission electron microscopy showed that the shell thickness was roughly uniform, and was greatly influenced by the type and structure of the crosslinker. GI-MCs, prepared using glycerin and isophorondiamine, had the largest shell thickness. GT-MCs, obtained using glycerin and triethylenetetramine, had the highest encapsulation efficiency and drug-loading content, and BT-MCs, obtained using mixtures of 1,4-butanediol and triethylenetetramine, had the fastest release behavior. Thermogravimetric analysis revealed that the greater the degree of shell crosslinking, the higher decomposition temperature and the greater the thermal stability. A BT-MC suspension had the lowest viscosity and contact angle with the best wettability. Bioassay experiments showed that BT-MCs exhibited good insecticidal activity against Plutella xylostella larvae with a half-maximal lethal concentration of 4.19 mg/L. Furthermore, a BT-MC suspension showed good thermal and light stability, with potential applications in minimizing the toxicity of EB through sustained release. Conclusion: Various properties of EB-loaded PU-MCs were modulated through simple selection of different polyols and polyamines during fabrication, which might have an important role in constructing the pesticide delivery system and improving pesticide utilization. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.
One-Pot Facile Synthesis of Double-Shelled Mesoporous Silica Microcapsules with an Improved Soft-Template Method for Sustainable Pest Management

Abstract:A controlled release formulation based on silica microcapsules is an ideal selection to improve both the effective utilization and duration of pesticides to decrease ecological damage. Herein, a simple and green method for preparing double-shelled microcapsules was developed using a newly prepared quaternary ammonium ionic liquid (IL) as the functional additive to entrap avermectin (Ave) in mesoporous silica nanospheres (MSNs) and tannic acid-Cu (TA-Cu) complex as the sealing agent to form the core-shell structure (Ave-IL@MSN@TA-Cu). The obtained microcapsules with an average size of 538 nm had pH-responsive release property and good stability in soil. The half-life of microcapsules (34.66 days) was 3 times that of Ave emulsifiable concentrate (EC) (11.55 days) in a test soil, which illustrated that microcapsules could protect Ave from rapid degradation by microorganisms by releasing TA, copper, and quaternary ammonium in the soil. Ave-IL@MSN@TA-Cu microcapsules had better nematicidal activity and antibacterial activity than Ave EC due to the synergistic effect of Ave, IL, and copper incorporated in the microcapsules. Pot experiments showed that the control efficacy of microcapsules was 87.10% against Meloidogyne incognita, which is better than that of Ave EC (41.94%) at the concentration of 1.0 mg/plant by the root-irrigation method after 60 days of treatment owing to the extended duration of Ave in microcapsules. The simple and green method for the preparation of double-shelled microcapsules based on natural quaternary ammonium IL would have tremendous potential for the extensive development of controlled release pesticide formulations.
Facile fabrication of pesticide nanocapsules using cinnamaldehyde derived imide polymer as wall material for pH-responsive and ultraviolet shielding properties

Abstract:The low utilization efficiency of pesticides poses a significant challenge to the sustainable development of agriculture. The nanocapsule-based pesticide delivery systems combine the advantages of nanotechnology and advanced materials to achieve on-demand and accurately targeted release. Herein, a facile and universal strategy was used to fabricate photosensitive pesticide nanocapsules using a versatile imine polymer derived from cinnamaldehyde (CIN) and ε-poly-L-lysine (PLL). Characterization results demonstrated that the nanocapsules prepared under optimal conditions exhibited uniform sizes (200–400 nm) and high encapsulation efficiency (>90 %). Photodegradation experiments revealed a significant increase of half-lives (7.21–55.57 times) under UV irradiation for the different pesticide nanocapsules. Furthermore, the pesticide nanocapsules demonstrated a high biological activity and excellent physicochemical properties, including pH-responsive release, maximum retention, and rain erosion resistance. The results of the mechanistic studies on the increased biological activity indicated that the nanocapsules could be adsorbed on the surface of target pathogenic cells and then released CIN and PLL, destroying the integrity of the cell membrane, and synergistically and effectively eradicating the pathogen with pesticide. Additionally, nanocapsules exhibited lower toxicity to zebrafish and genetic toxicity to Vicia faba than pesticide technical. Therefore, stimuli-responsive nanocapsules based on imide polymer have broad application prospects in the field of pesticides.

Abstract:Improving drug utilization of water-based pesticide formulations is facile and feasible to efficiently avoid serious pesticide residues and reduce the resulting environmental pollution. A co-delivery system of two- or multi-pesticides within one formulation could enhance drug efficiency and decrease usage amounts of pesticides due to the synergistic effect of the loaded multiple pesticides. Herein, we reported a porous polylactide (PLA) microcapsule formulation for co-delivery of avermectin (Av) and chlorantraniliprole (CAP). A double emulsion method combined with premix membrane emulsion (PME) was adopted to produce the Av/CAP-loaded porous microcapsules (Av/CAP P-MCs) with prolonged drug release, high loading content and entrapment efficiency, as well as good light and thermal stability. Compared with single Av- or CAP-loaded microcapsule formulations, the Av/CAP P-MCs exhibited higher biotoxicity against Plutella xylostella. These results reveal that the Av/CAP co-delivery system may be a promising candidate to be further explored as a facile, effective and environmentally-friendly pesticide formulation.

Abstract:Targeted delivery of pesticides towards pests and pathogens can significantly improve the bioavailability and efficacy of pesticides and minimize the impact on the environment. Cyclodextrin polymer (CDP)-valved, benzimidazole functionalized, MoS2-embedded mesoporous silica (MoS2@) nanopesticides were constructed toward hierarchical biological targets of pests, pathogens, and foliage. The splash and bounce of the aqueous droplets containing MoS2@ nanoparticles in the presence of Aersosol OT on superhydrophobic surfaces were well inhibited available for excellent wetting to prevent pesticides from losing to the environment. The multivalent supramolecular nanovalves between CDP and the functionalized benzimidazole moieties could be activated for the controlled release of pesticides in the cases of low pH and α-amylase. It is the first time to report the foliage-triggered controlled release of pesticides, owing to the competitive binding of epicuticular wax components to CDP. Furthermore, thermogenic MoS2 cores triggered the controlled release of pesticides under irradiation of near infrared light. The fungicidal efficacies of the stimuli-responsive nanopesticides against pathogenic fungi Rhizoctonia solani and Fusarium graminearum were demonstrated. It is clear that the smart nanopesticides could realize the controlled release of pesticides toward hierarchical biological targets for enhanced pesticide bioavailability and efficacy via the multidimensional stimuli of pH, α-amylase, epicuticular waxes, and sunlight.

Abstract:Low bioavailability and environmental pollution are the key problems that restrict the sustainable development of traditional herbicides and pesticides. In this study, inspired by biomineralization, we prepared porous calcium carbonate microspheres (PCMs) using polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCs) as particle size and morphology modifiers. PCMs have large specific surface area (87.6 m 2 /g) and mesoporous structure, which allows them to efficiently load herbicides (497±24 mg/g) and pesticides (318±17 mg/g). Additionally, the PCMs exhibit pH-responsive decomposition, enabling responsive release of glyphosate/chlorpyrifos in weak acid environments. In the simulation experiments, we found that the PCMs improved the adhesion ability of glyphosate/chlorpyrifos on the leaf surface and reduced the glyphosate/chlorpyrifos loss rate (1.69-fold reduction for glyphosate; 1.68-fold reduction for chlorpyrifos). Furthermore, glyphosate/chlorpyrifos loaded PCMs (GLY@PCMs/CPF@PCMS) exhibited herbicidal/insecticidal performance with the same efficacy as glyphosate/chlorpyrifos. Therefore, the PCMs provide an effective method for controlling herbicides/pesticides loss, controlled release of herbicides/pesticides, and improving herbicides/pesticides utilization efficiency. As a result, PCMs have the potential to be used as a pesticide/herbicide controlled release system, providing new ideas and theoretical support for the design of multifunctional nanoherbicides/nanopesticides in the future.
