Abstract:A generalized Liouville’s formula is established for linear matrix differential equations involving left and right multiplications. Its special cases are used to determine the localness of characteristics of symmetries and solutions to Riemann-Hilbert problems in soltion theory.

Abstract:We consider the classical Liouville field theory on the Riemann surface with h>1 genus. In terms of the uniformization theorem of the Riemann surface, we show explicitly the classical exchange algebra (CEA) for the chiral components of the Liouville field. We find that this classical exchange algebra is just the same as that on a Riemann sphere with 2h punctures.

Abstract:We consider in this paper the classical Liouvelle field theory on the Riemann sphere with n punctures. In terms of the uniformization theorem of the Riemann surface, we explicitly show the classical exchange algebra (CEA) for the chiral components of the Liouville field. We find that the matrix which dominates the CEA is related to the symmetry of the Lie group SL(n) in a nontrivial manner with n>3.

Abstract:A fundamental theorem of Liouville asserts that positive entire harmonic functions in Euclidean spaces must be constant. A remarkable Liouville-type theorem of Caffarelli-Gidas-Spruck states that positive entire solutions of $-\Delta u=u^{ {(n+2)}/{(n-2)} }$, $n\ge 3$, are unique modulo Möbius transformations. Far-reaching extensions were established for general fully nonlinear conformally invariant equations through the works of Chang-Gursky-Yang, Li-Li, Li, and Viaclovsky. In this paper, we derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the validity of such Liouville-type theorems. This leads to necessary and sufficient conditions for local gradient estimates of solutions to hold, assuming a one-sided bound on the solutions, for a wide class of fully nonlinear elliptic equations involving Schouten tensors. A pivotal advancement in proving these Liouville-type theorems is our enhanced understanding of solutions to such equations near isolated singularities. In particular, we utilize earlier results of Caffarelli-Li-Nirenberg on lower- and upper-conical singularities. For general conformally invariant fully nonlinear elliptic equations, we prove that a viscosity super- (sub-)solution can be extended across an isolated singularity if and only if it is a lower- (upper-)conical singularity. We also provide necessary and sufficient conditions for lower- (upper-)conical behavior of a function near isolated singularities in terms of its conformal Hessian. As an application of our Liouville theorems and local gradient estimates, we establish new existence and compactness results for conformal metrics on a closed Riemannian manifold with prescribed symmetric functions of the Schouten (Ricci) tensor, allowing the scalar curvature of the conformal metrics to have varying signs.

Abstract: In this paper, we study a general class of Hessian elliptic equations, including the Monge-Amp\`ere equation, the $k$-Hessian equation and $p$-Monge-Amp\`ere equations. We propose new additional condition on the solution and prove Liouville theorem under this assumption. We show that our general condition covers as special cases numerous sets of assumptions known in the literature which were tailored for specific equations. Thus we obtain a significant generalization of multiple isolated Liouville theorems and conditional interior estimates.

Abstract:In this note, we classify solutions to a class of Monge–Ampère equations whose right hand side may be degenerate or singular in the half space. Solutions to these equations are special solutions to a class of fourth order equations, including the affine maximal hypersurface equation, in the half space. Both the Dirichlet boundary value and Neumann boundary value cases are considered.

Abstract:This work deals with the Entire solutions of a nonlinear equation. The first part of this paper is devoted to investigation of the Liouville property on compact manifolds, which extends a result by Castorina-Mantegazza [4] for positive f. Secondly, we will turn to non-compact manifolds and prove a Liouville theorem under the assumptions of boundedness of the Ricci curvature from below, diffeomorphism of M with R^N and sub-criticality of p defined below. Finally, we also present simplified proofs of Yau's theorem for harmonic function and Gidas-Spruck's theorem for elliptic semilinear equation. Our proofs are based on Li-Yau type estimation for nonlinear equations.

Abstract:In this paper, we get a Liouville type theorem for the special Lagrangian equation with a certain ’convexity’ condition, where Warren–Yuan first studied the condition in (Comm Partial Differ Equ 33(4–6):922–932, 2008). Based on Warren–Yuan’s work, our strategy is to show a global Hessian estimate of solutions via the Neumann–Poincar é inequality on special Lagrangian graphs, and mean value inequality for superharmonic functions on these graphs, where we need geometric measure theory. Moreover, we derive interior Hessian estimates on the gradient of the solutions to the equation with this ’convexity’ condition or with supercritical phase.

Abstract:In this paper, we derive two versions of divided difference form of the Lagrange–Bürmann expansion formula. The first version expresses all coefficients by a form of a determinant. By means of the factorizations of the generalized Leibniz functional matrices with respect to a sequence, we obtain the second version with coefficients represented by a finite sum. Some new matrix inversions are also investigated.

These calculations are obtained under some qualification constraints and are expressed in the similar forms of the ones of Fréchet and limiting normal cones and the limiting coderivative. By using these new formulas, we state explicit necessary optimality conditions with respect to a set for optimization problems with equilibrium constraints under certain qualification conditions. Some examples are also presented.

Abstract:The $\sigma_k(A_g)$ curvature and the boundary $\mathcal{B}^k_g$ curvature arise naturally from the Chern--Gauss--Bonnet formula for manifolds with boundary. In this paper, we prove a Liouville theorem for the equation $\sigma_k(A_g)=1$ in $\overline{\mathbb{R}^n_+}$ with the boundary condition $\mathcal{B}^k_g=c$ on $\partial\mathbb{R}^n_+$, where $g=e^{2v}|dx|^2$ and $c$ is some nonnegative constant. This extends an earlier result of Wei, which assumes the existence of $\lim_{|x|\to\infty}(v(x)+2\log|x|)$. In addition, we establish a local gradient estimate for solutions of such equations, assuming an upper bound on the solution $v$.

Abstract:We deal with the higher-order fractional Laplacians by two methods: the integral method and the system method. The former depends on the integral equation equivalent to the differential equation. The latter works directly on the differential equations. We first derive nonexistence of positive solutions, often known as the Liouville type theorem, for the integral and differential equations. Then through an delicate iteration, we show symmetry for positive solutions.

Abstract:We study nonnegative solutions to the following Hardy-H´enon type equations involving higher order fractional Laplacians in R n 0 } which have a possible singularity at the origin, where σ is a real number satisfying 0 < σ < n/ 2 , −∞ < α < 2 σ and p > 1 . By a more direct approach without using the super poly-harmonic properties of nonnegative solutions, we establish an integral representation for nonnegative solutions to the above higher order fractional equations whether the singularity { 0 } is removable or not. As the ﬁrst application, we prove Liouville theorems for nonnegative solutions to the above equations with removable singularity for all σ ∈ (0 , n/ 2) when This, in particular, covers a gap occurring for non-integral σ ∈ (1 , n/ 2) and α ∈ (0 , 2 σ ) in the current literature. As the second application, we show the radial symmetry of nonnegative solutions to the above equations in the critical case or in the case where the singularity at the origin is not removable. Such radial symmetry would be useful in studying the higher order singular Yamabe problems and characterizing isolated singularities of the higher order Hardy-H´enon equations.
