Abstract:The hot deformation behavior of a spray-formed 2195 aluminum-lithium alloy was detailed investigated using advanced physical simulation technology (Gleeble physical simulation technique) together with systematic characterization methods such as EBSD and TEM. An improved isothermal processing map was constructed to directly capture the deformation features under continuously varying true strain. The DRX 'C-curve' model was proposed based on Avrami theory to further analyze the microstructure evolution. The results show a tendency to discontinuous dynamic recrystallization (DDRX) at a low temperature (350 degrees C). The ln Z and Q (constitutive parameters) are not well matched at the valley. To interrupt, the specimens under the theoretical optimum hot deformation parameter (valley ln Z point at 450 degrees C-0.01 s- 1) are proved to be in the stage of 'Post-DRX' from the DRX 'C-curve'. The excess energy has been used to support grain growth, causing the hot workability to fail. The continuous dynamic recrystallization (CDRX) mechanism occurs at high temperatures and medium ln Z values, confirmed as the optimum processing parameter with a sharp decline of the unstable area in the isothermal processing map. Furthermore, high-temperature low-strain-rate urges the grains to conduct geometric dynamic recrystallization (GDRX) with long-strip coarsened DRX grains, which is detrimental to further manufacturing.
