Abstract:A simple, air-stable, inexpensive and easily prepared molecule, N-methyliminodiacetic acid (MIDA), is reported as a ligand for palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction of phenylboronic acid with aryl chlorides. The yield of the corresponding Suzuki coupling reaction is up to around 90% at both high temperature of 80 degrees C and room temperature under ambient atmosphere. Abstract:Copper(II)-catalyzed synthesis of sulfones from sulfinate salts and aryl halides was investigated by means of a combination of experiment and DFT calculation. Experimental results demonstrated the wide applicability of the title approach. The reaction mechanisms are revealed by in-situ IR and theoretical study. It reveals remarkable ligand effect the bidentate amine plays in the reaction, that is, it initially activats the C-I bond of iodobenzene so as to enhance the whole catalytic process. Abstract:A protocol for the copper-catalyzed C–S bond formation between aryl, alkyl, or heteroaryl thiols and aryl or heteroaryl halides is reported. The reaction is catalyzed by Cu2O which shows the highest catalytic activity with ethyl 2-oxocyclohexanecarboxylate ligand in DMSO at 80°C. The corresponding coupling products are obtained with good to excellent yields under relatively mild reaction conditions with good chemoselectivity and functional group tolerance.

Abstract:Abstract: A highly efficient and simple cross-coupling reaction of N-aryl aluminum reagents with Naryl thiosuccinimides for the synthesis of diarylsulide derivatives using CuCl (20 mol%) as a catalyst is reported. Under the optimum reaction conditions, the coupling reaction between aryl aluminum reagents with different substituents and N-aryl thiosuccinimides with different substituents can be carried out smoothly with 18-94% isolated yields of diarylsulides. The method avoids the use of expensive transition metals, such as Pd, Ir, or Rh, phosphine ligands, and has the advantages of simple operation and high reaction efficiency. The structures of all the target compounds are confirmed by 1 HNMR and 13CNMR.

Abstract:A highly efficient and simple route for the synthesis of 2-alknyl benzo[ d ]thiazoles has been developed by palladium and copper catalyzed the cross-coupling reaction of 2-thiobenzo[ d ]thiazoles with (hetero)aromatic and aliphatic alkynylaluminum reagents. Various 2-alkynyl benzo[ d ]thiazole derivatives can be obtained in 19–97 % isolated yields using 1 mol% PdCl 2 (dppf)/5 mol% xanthpos as the catalyst and CuI (3 equiv.) as desulfurization agent. The cross-coupling reaction can be carried out smoothly with electron-donating or -withdrawing groups on the aromatic ring of the organo aluminum reagents or the 2-thiobenzo[ d ]thiazoles. Furthermore, the broad substrate scope and the maintenance of high efficiency on a gram scale make this protocol a potentially practical method to synthesize 2-alkynylbenzo[ d ]thiazole derivatives. On the basis of the experimental results, a possible catalytic cycle has been proposed.2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Abstract Mixed alkyl/aryl diphos ligands have been prepared and their application in iron‐catalyzed cross coupling of benzylic chlorides with diaryl zinc (Negishi) or aryl Grignard reagents (Kumada) towards the synthesis of diarylmethane has been evaluated. The iron−diphos catalytic system exhibited the enhanced activity and selectivity in the two coupling reactions. The electron‐rich mixed PPh 2 /PCy 2 ligands outperformed their symmetrical PPh 2 congeners, and led to decreased homocoupling byproduct formation. It indicates that the electronic effect of the ligands plays an important role in the catalytic performance. The Fe catalyst supported by L8 bearing an electron‐rich PCy 2 substituent and a sterically demanding tert‐butyl on ethene backbone exhibited the best catalytic performance and good functional group tolerance in the two cross coupling reactions.

Abstract:Herein we report a facile method for the synthesis of arylphosphonates via copper‐mediated the cross‐coupling reaction in the presence of 1, 10‐Phenanthroline and Ag2O. This method features a broad scope with respect to both the arylsilanes and H‐phosphonate diesters. Mechanistically, the reaction is proposed to involve oxidation by phosphinyl radical and reductive elimination process as the two key steps. With the optimized conditions established, various arylphosphonates were obtained up to 74% yield. This protocol is the first example of copper mediated the Ar−P bond formation of various arylsilanes with H‐phosphonates, and this novel methodology expands the applications of low cost and toxicity copper reagent in Ar−P bond construction.

Abstract:Various sulfenylated heteroarenes were synthesized by a copper‐mediated C−H thiolation, which was assisted by a 2‐(pyridin‐2‐yl)isopropylamine (PIP‐amine) directing group. The reaction features a broad substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, ligand‐ and metal‐oxidant‐free conditions, exceptional compatibility with aliphatic disulfides, and excellent yields, providing a highly efficient approach to the biologically important sulfenylated heteroarenes.

Abstract:A three distinct copper cluster complexes (A-C) containing Cu-O ligated Schiff-base ligands were synthesized and bonding was investigated by single crystal X-ray crystallographic studies. These complexes effectively catalyze the C-S cross coupling reaction of less reactive aliphatic thiols to synthesize thioether derivatives. This coupling reaction also tolerates well and compatible with aryl thiols. The peculiar C(sp2)-SC(sp3) bond formation could distinctly took place with high efficiency in low catalyst loading of copper cluster complex catalysts. The present report describes an alternative protocol to construct an active copper cluster complex from readily accessible cheap and efficient ligands. These complexes are air stable, practical, ease to handle and execute C-S coupling reactions with good yields.

Abstract:An electron-deficient diene, L(1), was found to be an effective ligand in facilitating palladium-catalyzed Negishi couplings involving primary and secondary alkylzinc reagents. The reactions took place readily at 60 degrees C in THF with 5 mol% of a catalyst generated in situ from bis(acetonitrile)palladium dichloride [PdCl(2)(MeCN)(2)] and L(1), and functional groups such as chloro, bromo, etc. attached to phenyl ring as well as beta-H atoms adjacent to the reaction site were well tolerated. The problematic isomerizations in secondary alkyzinc reagents involved in the reactions reported in the literature were also observed in our system when isopropylzinc chloride was employed alone as the nucleophile. However, the isomerization was significantly suppressed when i-Pr(2)Zn was utilized in the presence of L(1).
