Abstract:In this paper, we consider the N-dimensional semilinear parabolic equation $ u_t=\Delta u+e^{|\nabla u|}$, for which the spatial derivative of solutions becomes unbounded in finite (or infinite) time while the solutions themselves remain bounded. We establish estimates of blowup rate as well as lower and upper bounds for the radial solutions. We prove that in this case the blowup rate does not match the one obtained by the rescaling method.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to consider the linear ultraparabolic equation with bounded and VMO coefficients $a_{ij} (z)$. Assume that the operator $L_0$ obtained by freezing the coefficients $a_{ij}(z)$ at any point ${z_0} \in {\mathbb{R}^{N + 1}}$ is hypoelliptic. We first establish a Caccioppoli type inequality by choosing a cutoff function, a Sobolev type inequality by prosperities of the fundamental solution to $L_0$, and a Poincar\'{e} type inequality with a new cutoff function. Then $L^p$ estimate for weak solutions is derived by using the reverse H\"{o}lder inequality on homogeneous spaces. Finally, higher Morrey estimates for weak solutions to the above equation are shown by investigating a homogeneous ultraparabolic equation of variable coefficients with a nonhomogeneous boundary value condition, and a nonhomogeneous ultraparabolic equation of variable coefficients with homogeneous boundary value condition.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the gradient estimates on positive solutions to the following elliptic (Lichnerowicz) equation defined on a complete Riemannian manifold $(M,\,g)$: $$\Delta v + \mu v + a v^{p+1} +b v^{-q+1} =0,$$ where $p\geq-1$, $q\geq1$, $\mu$, $a$ and $b$ are real constants. In the case $\mu\geq0$ and $b\geq0$ or $\mu<0$ , $a>0$ and $b>0$ ($\mu$ has a lower bound), we employ the Nash-Moser iteration technique to obtain some refined gradient estimates of the solutions to the above equation, if $(M,\,g)$ satisfies $Ric \geq -(n-1)\kappa$ , where $n\geq3$ is the dimension of $M$ and $\kappa$ is a nonnegative constant, and $\mu$ , $a$ , $b$ , $p$ and $q$ satisfy some technique conditions. By the obtained gradient estimates we also derive some Liouville type theorems for the above equation under some suitable geometric and analysis conditions. As applications, we can derive some Cheng-Yau's type gradient estimates for solutions to the $n$-dimensional Einstein-scalar field Lichnerowicz equation where $n\geq3$.

Abstract:Let ( M n , g ) be an n -dimensional complete Riemannian manifold. We consider gradient estimates for the positive solutions to the following nonlinear parabolic equation: u_t=Δ u+aulog u+bu on M n × [0, T ], where a , b are two real constants. We derive local gradient estimates of the Li-Yau type for positive solutions of the above equations on Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded from below. As applications, several parabolic Harnack inequalities are obtained. In particular, our results extend the ones of Davies in Heat Kernels and Spectral Theory, Cambridge Tracts in Mathematics, vol 92, Cambridge University Press, Cambridge,1989, and Li and Xu in Adv Math 226:4456–4491 ( 2011 ).

Under some suitable assumptions on F, we establish the gradient blowup rate lower bound by the rescaling method for any N >= 1. While the upper bound which is established by the comparison method can be obtained only for N = 1. At last, we provide some specific examples to verify our results.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with two properties of positive weak solutions of quasilinear elliptic equations with nonlinear gradient terms. First, we show a Liouville-type theorem for positive weak solutions of the equation involving the m -Laplacian operator- increment (m)u = u(q)| backward difference u|(p) in RN,where N 1, m > 1 and p, q ? 0. The technique of Bernstein gradient estimates is utilized to study the case p < m. Moreover, a Liouville-type theorem for supersolutions under subcritical range of exponentsq(N - m) + p(N -1) < N(m -1)is also established. Then, we use a degree argument to obtain the existence of positive weak solutions for a nonlinear Dirichlet problem of the type - increment (m)u = f (x, u, backward difference u), with f satisfying certain structure conditions. Our proof is based on a priori estimates, which will be accomplished by using a blow-up argument together with the Liouville-type theorem in the half-space. As another application, some new Harnack inequalities are proved.

Abstract:In this paper we prove Krylov's boundary gradient type estimates (and regularity) for solutions to fully nonlinear differential inequalities with unbounded coefficients and quadratic growth on the gradient with C-1,C-dini boundary data. This means that drift coefficients and the right-hand side (RHS) are in L-q with q > n. We also show that in the case the RHS is in L' the result does not hold and solutions may fail to be even Lipschitz in (tiny) neighborhoods of the boundary. Our approach is based on a new improvement of flatness argument together with an iteration process based on scaling arguments and perturbation by linear functions. Our results can be seen as an extension of the corresponding ones obtained in [L. Silvestre and B. Sirakov, Comm. Partial Differential Equations, 39 (2014), pp. 1694-1717] in the case of bounded coefficients and no quadratic term.

As applications of the gradient estimates, we give a Harnack inequality for the positive solutions of the CR heat equation, and then obtain an upper bound estimate for the corresponding heat kernel.

Abstract:We prove a boundary estimate for the gradient of a weak solution to a partial differential equation of $p$-Laplacian type with coefficients of vanishing mean oscillation. Combining the boundary estimate with a known interior estimate we obtain a global higher integrability result. The main result generalizes known results for linear equations to a nonlinear case. Our method is based on choosing the right test function, and, in particular, we do not use any representation formulas for solutions.
