Abstract:The 1,3-rearrangement of allylic derivatives has rarely been reported, except for allylic alcohols. Herein, we describe an iridium-catalyzed 1,3-rearrangement of readily available allylic ethers to access the difficultly prepared allylic ethers with a large steric hindrance. The developed method shows a broad substrate scope and could be used in the late-stage modification of several natural products. In addition, a possible reaction pathway is also provided on the basis of the control experiments.

Abstract:A great challenge in transition metal-catalyzed oxidative Ar–H/Ar–H cross-coupling chemistry is to develop privileged catalytic platforms for overcoming the restriction to specific substrates. Reported herein is a Cp*Ir(III) catalytic platform for the broad C–H ortho-heteroarylation of arenes with up to 16 types of directing groups. The power of the platform is further demonstrated by the (Z)-selective heteroarylation of enamides, which is clearly different from the methods where the catalytic chain begins with the metalation of heteroarene leading to (E)-selective product. Unlike the Rh(III)/Rh(I) catalytic version, the stoichiometric reactions of cyclometalated iridium(III) species with benzothiophene suggest an oxidatively induced reductive elimination involving a high-valent diaryl–iridium intermediate. The catalytic platform overcomes the restriction to specific substrates and would be synthetic chemists’ toolbox for the construction of aryl–heteroaryl and vinyl–heteroaryl linkages.

Abstract:An unprecedented reductive cross-coupling reaction of allylammonium salts with alkyl electrophiles has been established through C-N bond cleavage. A range of allylammonium bromides smoothly participated in the nickel-catalyzed zinc-mediated allyl-alkyl cross-electrophile coupling reaction with alkyl iodides, delivering structurally diverse alkene products in moderate to good yields with high linear selectivity. Preliminary mechanistic experiments are consistent with the formation of an alkyl radical from the alkyl iodide.

Abstract:In the presence of catalytic [{IrCp*Cl2 }2 ] and Ag2 CO3 , Li2 CO3 as the base, and acetone as the solvent, benzoic acids react with arenediazonium salts to give the corresponding diaryl-2-carboxylates under mild conditions. This C-H arylation process is generally applicable to diversely substituted substrates, ranging from extremely electron-rich to electron-poor derivatives. The carboxylate directing group is widely available and can be removed tracelessly or employed for further derivatization. Orthogonality to halide-based cross-couplings is achieved by the use of diazonium salts, which can be coupled even in the presence of iodo substituents.

Abstract:AbstractCatalytic, three‐component, cross‐electrophile reactions have recently emerged as a promising tool for molecular diversification, but studies have focused mainly on the alkyl‐carbonations of alkenes. Herein, the scope of this method has been extended to conjugated dienes and silicon chemistry through silylative difunctionalization of 1,3‐dienes with chlorosilanes and aryl bromides. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions to afford 1,2‐linear‐silylated products, a selectivity that is different to those obtained from conventional methods via an intermediary of H(C)‐η3‐π‐allylmetal species. Preliminary mechanistic studies reveal that chlorosilane reacts with 1,3‐diene first and then couples with aryl bromide.
