Abstract:Polysubstituted vinyl sulfones were prepared stereoselectively by the carbomagnesiation of acetylenic sulfones in the presence of Cu(I). Bisubstituted vinyl sulfones were obtained by the carbomagnesiation of acetylenic sulfones followed by hydrolysis. Trisubstituted vinyl sulfones were obtained by the carbomagnesiation of acetylenic sulfones followed by reacting with other electrophiles.

Abstract:We report a stereoretentive cross-coupling reaction of configurationally stable nucleophiles with disulfide and N-sulfenylsuccinimide donors promoted by Cu(I). We demonstrate the utility of this method in the synthesis of thioglycosides derived from simple alkyl and aryl thiols, thioglycosides, and in the glycodiversification of cysteine residues in peptides. These reactions operate well with carbohydrate substrates containing common protective groups and reagents with free hydroxyl and secondary amide functionalities under standardized conditions. Competition experiments in combination with computational DFT studies established that the putative anomeric intermediate is an organocopper species that is configurationally stable and resistant to epimerization due to its short lifetime. The subsequent reductive elimination from the Cu(III) intermediate is rapid and stereoretentive. Taken together, the glycosyl cross-coupling is ideally suited for late stage glycodiversification and bioconjugation under highly controlled installation of the aliphatic carbon-sulfur bonds.

Abstract:A highly chemo-,regio-,and stereo-selective cobalt-catalyzed dehydrogenative silylation of vinylarenes was described.The imidazoline iminopyridine cobalt complex could promote this reaction effectively and improve the chemoselectivity dramatically.This protocol used earth-abundant transition metal,readily available alkenes and hydrosilanes to construct valuable vinylsilanes.The reaction could be carried out in gramscale and the proposed mechanism was also described.

Abstract:This study presents an electrochemical 1,5-chlorosulfonylation and 1,5-hydrosulfonylation of vinylcyclopropanes. This protocol offers a broad substrate scope, high functional group tolerance, and excellent E/Z selectivity under mild conditions, without the need for oxidants, reductants, or transition metals. Additionally, the process is easily scalable to the gram scale. The resulting products are valuable intermediates for the synthesis of quinolinone derivatives. Mechanism studies have indicated the involvement of a short radical chain propagation.

Abstract:Herein, we disclosed a strategy to access diverse tetrasubstituted vinyl sulfides from cyclic ketones via palladium/norbornene/copper catalysed dual functionalization of the corresponding enol triflates, allowing simultaneous installation of thio and alkoxycarbonyl groups at vicinal positions of 1,2-disubstiuted alkene in a regioselective fashion. A copper salt was proven to enhance the reactivity of the electrophile to achieve the desired selectivity without using commonly used C2 amide-substituted norbornene. Readily available thiocarbonates are suitable bifunctional electrophiles; various functional groups could be tolerated. The protocol is scalable and permits orthogonal coupling in the presence of other functionalization handles.

Abstract:We have developed an improved cyanide-free strategy for the synthesis of glycosyl carboxylic acids, employing stereoselective C-vinyl glycosylation and oxidative cleavage of C-vinyl glycosides as key steps. Compared to our previous work, the amount of NaIO4 required for the oxidative cleavage step is reduced significantly from 18 equivalents to 4.5 equivalents. This modification not only is advantageous in terms of operation and costs but also avoids the over-oxidation problem, thus greatly expanding the substrate scope, which is evidenced by the fact that 10 out of 21 glycosyl carboxylic acids synthesized are undocumented. With differently O5-protected furanosyl acids in hand, we demonstrate that an electron-rich protecting group is beneficial for the decarboxylative arylation of furanosyl carboxylic acids. This represents a rare example of protecting groups affecting the reaction efficiency in radical C-glycosylation. As C-vinyl glycosides can be prepared stereoselectively and the oxidative step is stereoretentive, the approach provides an effective means to access 1,2-trans or 1,2-cis glycosyl acids, which would be a valuable alternative to the cyanide-based synthesis of glycosyl carboxylic acids.

Abstract:As an attractive C1 synthon, carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) has been extensively used in organic synthesis to produce carboxylic acids. In this research, stereoselective electrochemical carboxylation of α,β -unsaturated sulfones has been developed under transition-metal-free conditions. All the cinnamic acids and the derivatives are obtained selectively in the E -configuration. Besides, arylpropiolates also can be produced from alkynyl sulfones.

Abstract:An unusual I2‐mediated triple C(sp3)−H functionalization reaction between aryl methyl ketones and dimethyl sulfoxide to form polysubstituted furans has been developed. In this transformation, dimethyl sulfoxide functions as a dual synthon via C(sp3)−H functionalization with formation of two C−C bonds, one C−O bond, and one C−S bond in a one‐step process. Iodine is crucial as promoter of the reaction, by which a number of ketones could be converted easily into 2,4,5‐trisubstituted furans. This provides an extremely simple and expeditious approach to high‐value‐added, biologically significant O‐heterocycles. Based on preliminary experiments, a plausible mechanism is proposed.

Abstract:A palladium/TADDOL-derived phosphonate catalyzed desymmetric ring-opening coupling bewteen prochiral silacyclobutanes and alkyl terminal alkynes was developed. This catalytic system facilitates the formation of optically active allyl vinylsilane compounds featuring a quaternary silicon-stereogenic center, achieving good to high yields and moderate to good enantiomeric ratios. This approach significantly broadens the scope of ring-opening desymmetrization reactions involving silacyclobutanes under transition metal catalysis.

Abstract:A facile and green approach for the preparation of glycosyl sulfoxides utilizing 30% aqueous H2O2 in phenol or acetic acid is described. Advantages include relatively mild conditions, high chemoselectivity, and good tolerance to a wide range of protective groups. Furthermore, the epimer of Salidroside containing one 1,2-cis glycosidic bond was synthesized in three steps in 90.1% overall yield using glucopyranosyl sulfoxide as the glycosyl donor.
