Abstract:Let $f$ be a piecewise continuous map on the interval with at most a finite number of turning points. In this paper we study some basic properties about this class of functions and show its main difference from the continuous case. We define and study the notion of closed structure, which can be seen as an extension of the notion of periodic orbit. Moreover, we also study the periodic orbits which are away from the discontinuities of $f$, extending the notion of trapped and free periodic orbits.

Abstract:In this paper, the non-wandering points of continuous self-mapping defined on topological space are discussed. Firstly, some equivalent conditions in which a point x ∈ X is non-wandering point of f are given. Then, we prove that the non-wandering set is closed invariant set. In the end, we obtain an equivalent description of the non-wandering set of continuous self-mapping defined on a first-countable topological space which satisfies the T2 axiom.

Abstract:We consider perturbations of interval maps with indifferent fixed points, which we refer to as wobbly interval intermittent maps, for which stable laws for general Hölder observables fail. We obtain limit laws for such maps and Hölder observables. These limit laws are similar to the classical semistable laws previously established for random processes, but certain limitations imposed by the current dynamical set up are reflected in the main result. One of the considered examples is an interval map with a countable number of discontinuities, and to analyse it we need to construct a Markov/Young tower.

Abstract:We study the existence problems of fixed points and the topological structure of fixed point sets for nonexpansive set-valued maps in Banach space. We establish some porosity results on the existence of fixed points and the topological structure of fixed point sets for nonexpansive set-valued maps with values in an admissible family. The results obtained in the present paper cover and improve the corresponding ones due to De Blasi and Myjak (C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris Sér. I Math. 308:51–54, 1989) and De Blasi et al. (Set-Valued Anal. 17:97–112, 2009).
Nonwandering sets and the entropy of local homeomorphisms

Abstract:A local homeomorphism between open subsets of a locally compact Hausdorff space induces dynamical systems with a wide range of applications, including in C*-algebras. In this paper, we introduce the concepts of nonwandering and wandering sets for such systems and show that, under mild conditions, the metric entropy is concentrated in the nonwandering set. More generally, we demonstrate that the entropy of the system is the maximum of the entropies of the systems restricted to the nonwandering set and the closure of the wandering set. We illustrate these results with several examples, including applications to subshifts over countable alphabets.

Abstract:In this paper, various chaotic properties and their relationships for interval maps are discussed. It is shown that the proximal relation is an equivalence relation for any zero entropy interval map. The structure of the set of $f$-nonseparable pairs is well demonstrated and so is its relationship to Li-Yorke chaos. For a zero entropy interval map, it is shown that a pair is a sequence entropy pair if and only if it is $f$-nonseparable. Moreover, some equivalent conditions of positive entropy which relate to the number "3" are obtained. It is shown that for an interval map if it is topological null, then the pattern entropy of every open cover is of polynomial order, answering a question by Huang and Ye when the space is the closed unit interval.

Abstract:Abstract A natural generalization of interval exchange maps are linear involutions, first introduced by Danthony and Nogueira [Measured foliations on non-orientable surfaces. Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér. (4) 26 (6) (1993), 645–664]. Recurrent train tracks with a single switch provide a subclass of linear involutions. We call such linear involutions non-classical interval exchanges. They are related to measured foliations on orientable flat surfaces. Non-classical interval exchanges can be studied as a dynamical system by considering Rauzy induction in this context. This gives a refinement process on the parameter space similar to Kerckhoff’s simplicial systems. We show that the refinement process gives an expansion that has a key dynamical property called uniform distortion . We use uniform distortion to prove normality of the expansion. Consequently, we prove an analog of Keane’s conjecture: almost every non-classical interval exchange is uniquely ergodic. Uniform distortion has been independently shown in [A. Avila and M. Resende. Abstract:Let Λ be an isolated non-trivial transitive set of a C 1 generic diffeomorphism f ∈ Diff( M ). We show that the space of invariant measures supported on Λ coincides with the space of accumulation measures of time averages on one orbit. Moreover, the set of points having this property is residual in Λ (which implies that the set of irregular + points is also residual in Λ). As an application, we show that the non-uniform hyperbolicity of irregular + points in Λ with totally 0 measure (resp., the non-uniform hyperbolicity of a generic subset in Λ) determines the uniform hyperbolicity of Λ.

Abstract: Let $G$ be a graph and $f: G\rightarrow G$ be a continuous map. We establish a structure theorem which describes the structures of the set $R(f)-\overline{P(f)}$, where $R(f)$ and $P(f)$ are the recurrent point set and the periodic point set of $f$ respectively. Roughly speaking, the set $R(f)-\overline{P(f)}$ is covered by finitely many pairwise disjoint $f$-invariant open sets $U_{1\,},\,\cdots,\,U_{n\,}$; each $U_i$ contains a unique minimal set $W_i$ which absorbs each point of $U_i$; each $W_i$ lies in finitely many pairwise disjoint circles each of which is contained in a connected closed set; all of these connected closed sets are contained in $U_i$ and permutated cyclically by $f$. As applications of the structure theorem, several known results are improved or reproved.

Abstract:Let T be a tree and let Ω ( f ) be the set of non-wandering points of a continuous map f: T→ T. We prove that for a continuous map f: T→ T of a tree T: ( i) if x∈ Ω( f) has an infinite orbit, then x∈ Ω( f n ) for each n∈ ℕ; (ii) if the topological entropy of f is zero, then Ω( f) = Ω( f n ) for each n∈ ℕ. Furthermore, for each k∈ ℕ we characterize those natural numbers n with the property that Ω(f k ) = Ω(f kn ) for each continuous map f of T.

Abstract:In this paper we will develop a very general approach which shows that critical relations of holomorphic maps on the complex plane unfold transversally in a positively oriented way. We will mainly illustrate this approach to obtain transversality for a wide class of one-parameter families of interval maps, for example maps with flat critical points, piecewise linear maps, maps with discontinuities but also for families of maps with complex analytic extensions such as certain polynomial-like maps.

Abstract:In Ref. [1], it is proved that x Ie{cyrillic, ukrainian} Cl(f) if and only if there exist xk → x and nk → ∞ such that fn k (xk) = x. Also, Ω(f) ⊂ P(f) is shown in Ref. [1]. In this paper, a counterexample is constructed to show that these results don't hold for the maps F(x,y) = (y,f(x)) in [0,1] x [0,1]. Abstract:We derive new variants of the quantitative Borel--Cantelli lemma and apply them to analysis of statistical properties for some dynamical systems. We consider intermittent maps of $(0,1]$ which have absolutely continuous invariant probability measures. In particular, we prove that every sequence of intervals with left endpoints uniformly separated from zero is the strong Borel--Cantelli sequence with respect to such map and invariant measure.

Abstract:In this paper,it is first proved that the topological entropy of f is positive provided that f is sensitive interval map.Then,by introducing of a kind of extended mappings, it is proved that the infimum of topological entropy of sensitive interval mappings is 0,which shows that the lower bound 0 of the topological entropy is optimal.Finally,some examples are given to show that dense chaos,Spatio-temporal chaos,Li-Yorke sensitivity and sensitivity are almost all independent.

Abstract:We consider the class of interval maps with dense set of periodic points CP and its closure Cl(CP) equipped with the metric of uniform convergence. Besides studying basic topological properties and density results in the spaces CP and Cl(CP) we prove that Cl(CP) is dynamically characterized as the set of interval maps for which every point is chain-recurrent. Furthermore, we prove that a strong topological expansion property called topological exactness (or leo property) is attained on the open dense set of maps in CP and on a residual set in Cl(CP). Moreover, we show that every second category set in CP and Cl(CP) is rich in a sense that it contains uncountably many conjugacy classes. An analogous conclusion also holds in the setting of interval maps preserving any fixed non-atomic probability measure with full support. Finally, we give a detailed description of the structure of periodic points of generic maps in CP and Cl(CP) and show that generic maps in CP and Cl(CP) satisfy the shadowing property.

Abstract:We study the non-wandering set of $C^3$ contracting Lorenz maps $f$ with negative Schwarzian derivative. We show that if $f$ doesn't have attracting periodic orbit, then there is a unique topological attractor. Precisely, there is a transitive compact set $\Lambda$ such that $\omega_f(x)=\Lambda$ for a residual set of points $x \in [0,1]$. We also develop in the context of Lorenz maps the classical theory of spectral decomposition constructed for Axiom A maps by Smale.
