Abstract:It is urgent for modern society to save energy and protect environment. But the efficiency of traditional lighting equipment which occupies a rather high proportion of total electric load is very low. Now, they are more and more instead by power electronics based devices, such as energy-saving lamps or LED lamps. For the different characteristics from that of traditional devices, the new kind of lighting equipment may have uncertain influence to power grid. Firstly, their topologies and control schemes are studied and analyzed. Then, the general models, which are suitable for simulation analysis, are proposed. After that, the simulation study and physical experiment are carried on respectively. It is revealed and manifested that the characteristics of both energy-saving lamp and LED lamp are quite different from that of traditional lamps, and may have adverse impact on the safety and stability of power grid.

Abstract:Manufacturing industry is the main body of industry,the manufacturing of equipment is the core of manufacturing industry and the equipments are typical complicated products.Along with the ceaseless enhancement of the world industrial technological level and the unceasing impetuosity of the global market competition and the incessant diversification and complication of the requirements on the complex manufacturing of equipment,a turning point was thus provided on the research and development of the theory of designing method for the complex product and at the same time was a tremendous challenge as well.A kind of 3D solid classification method was put forward in this paper.A classification discussion has been carried out on the designing method of complex product by the use of this method,thus a more clear recognition was got on the current researching situation of the designing method theory of complex products and a bigger room has been opened up for its development.

Abstract:The direct-lit LED backlight is a key component in large-area LCD displays. The existing methods which rely on point source assumption and irradiance feedback are less effective in compact designs in near field, and designing thin and high-quality back-lit LED backlights still remains a challenging issue. In this paper, we develop a direct method for designing thin and high-quality back-lit LED backlight systems. The étendue of LED light sources is considered in the numerical calculation of the lens profiles without cumbersome Monte Carlo ray tracing, which allows us to obtain compact LED lighting modules and achieve accurate control of the near-field irradiance distribution of the backlight system. Two examples are presented to demonstrate the elegance of this method in designing thin and high-quality back-lit LED backlights.

Abstract:Semiconductor illumination to replace the traditional illumination is still enslaved to low light efficiency,high cost,short life and other issues.These problems are caused by manufacturing defects,core equipment,high efficiency heat dissipation,reliability and other key issues in manufacture process level.This program (No.2011CB013100) which was organized and leaded by Research Institute of Tsinghua University at Shenzhen mainly focus on three critical scientific problems and establish six major research directions as follow:1.principle research and equipment realization of large size homoepitaxy substrate growth and defect control;2.new principle research and equipment realization of low defect concentration and high efficiency remove planarization of large size ultra hard substrate;3.6 inches and larger size epitaxial wafer cross-scale manufacture technology and MOCVD equipment,relationship between geometry structure of multi-field coupling reactor chamber,gas transmission mode and manufacture process parameters;4.multi-parameter coupling design of packaging equipment execution system and high acceleration composite motion generation;5.simplified thermal model of LED and integrated manufacturing of cross scale heat transport system;6.composite stress accelerated life test method for LED and coupling law of reliability constraints.The main objective of this project is manufacturing of 220 lm/W high performance and high reliability LED device.Intention to reveal the relationship between luminous efficiency,reliability and manufacturing defects;set up new principles,new methods and new equipment;break through critical bottlenecks of technologies;establish the theoretical and technological foundation of new generation LED manufacture and development;provide support for the striding development in LED manufacture equipment.Making our country to be LED production international manufacture and innovation center.This paper will show a comprehensive discussion from research background,progress of related fundamental theoretical study and research progress of critical manufacture equipment.

Abstract:With the LED light source brightness rising,LED has been gradually applied to the field of decorative display and Ughting.LED reflector cup can control the direction of the reflection of light emitted by the light source,in order to lighting the place of people's needs,which effectively improve the utilization of light energy.This paper gives a method of the CPC modeling which are deduced by using the TracePro software.And it also gives the formula of theoretical calculation,which make modeling possible in TracePro software.Through analysis of the comparison of experiment,the optimized model of reflector cup can greatly improve the optical efficiency of the reflector cup,so as to further improve the luminous efficiency of the lamp to provide a new value in use and application prospects for its development in the field of LED lighting.

Abstract:Besides the appearance design of lamps themselves, the lighting should meet the basic distribution requirements. Additionally, the resource consumption and the influence of LED lamps on the environment should be considered. The big change in the system of the concept and evaluation of LED garden lamp design is turned out accordingly. It means that landscape lighting lamp design should be based on people's requirements and the lamp design should be considered as a whole. The focus on the lamp design gradually transfers from the pursuit of lamp functions and appearance to humanized pursuit of user-centered LED garden lighting lamp design. How to extent the concept of functional design of LED garden lighting, and how to comprehensively design user-centered LED garden lighting lamps are the key issues that LED garden lighting design should solve firstly. According to users' real needs, factors of quantity, appearance and impression in the evaluation system of LED garden lamp design are discussed in this paper. Good LED garden lamp design should equip with good light distribution curve, and additionally design proper lamp structure which integrates into the environment as a whole.

Abstract:In light-emitting diode (LED) street lamp design, it has always been an obsession that how to achieve an expected illumination distribution confined to a given region. To solve this problem, a new optimization strategy is proposed. In view of the practicability of actual production, we select the relatively mature approach that is based on both the Snell law and the energy conservation law which would obtain coordinate relations between the spaces the light source and target plane owned respectively and a set of equations to establish the initial construction of free-form lens. In addition, all the processes of simulation, analysis and optimization as well are accomplished in software. Generally speaking, for construction method which is in the light of the set of equations, the major improvement ideology focus on finding out the most suitable mapping relationship between the two coordinate systems. So does our work.In order to get better performance, the grid of control points must be modified. Then the core problem lies in determining the direction and distance of every point's movement contained in the grid. The rule of changing direction has a bearing on energy relations while migration length is gained by direct search algorithm. We apply the method in uniform illumination and get some effect. In short, the optimization strategy provides a practical and simple way for street lamp design of LED illumination.

Abstract:According to the Made in China 2025 plan, the equipment of light industry is facing requirements of transformation and development. From the analysis of gap for light industry equipment: The digital design level for production is not high, the virtual manufacturing technology is not be enough emphasized, research on light industrial' robot and promotion start late. The need to reform the professional construction for colleges and universities is put forward, and engineering technology professionals need to be cultured to adapt to the development of the industry. This paper analyzes the shortage in personnel training for mechanical design direction of light industry higher education institutions, proposes adjusting curriculum content, building a new body of knowledge and specialties laboratories; strengthening the construction of teacher team; highlighting the characteristics of light industrial machinery in the teaching practice; building a special practice base combined with enterprises, strengthening the innovation and entrepreneurial ability for teachers and students. In order to improve the level of running a school for light industry university in mechanical design major, the research and practice on the construction of mechanical design specialty is significant.

Abstract:An optimization method is proposed for designing an LED freeform lens which produces a uniform circular pattern with high energy efficiency. The results of design examples show that the irradiance distribution is well controlled with excellent uniformity and energy efficiency. This optimization method can be generalized to design freeform lenses with different lighting patterns or without rotational symmetry.

Abstract:How latecomers from emerging countries catch up on technological innovation is an important topic for industrial practitioners, policymakers, and academic researchers. This study systematically reviews 37 empirical studies on the precursors of industry catch-up in emerging countries. A general framework on what makes a successful catch-up in latecomer industries is suggested based on literature review. The framework comprises six generic determinants, including technological capability, business ecosystem, government roles, market condition, technological regime, and windows of opportunity. In addition, this framework is applied to the Chinese LED industry, and a case analysis of the catch-up is performed in Chinese LED firms.

Abstract:Power LED is expected to be used in indoor and outdoor lighting, which will replace incandescent lamp, fluorescent lamp and high pressure sodium lamp. However, for high-power LED, the heat flux produced by high current injection is high. The heat generated by the LED chip cannot be dissipated outside from the chip in time, which leads to the increase of junction temperature and the decrease of reliability and lifetime of the power LED. With the increasing demand for high-power LED in general lighting applications, more chip bonding materials or processes are being developed to improve the heat dissipation capacity of LED. At present, Au-Sn eutectic alloy is widely used in packaging of high power LED devices because of its higher melting point, good wettability and high thermal conductivity. Eutectic bonding technology is expected to become the most promising high power LED die-bonding process. However, the bonding technology is mainly mastered by large companies, and the related research results are confidential. The die-bonding technology of high power LED packaging has become one of the technical bottlenecks hindering the development of China's LED industry. The interfacial microstructure between chip and heat sink was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). This study provides some basic data for the LED sealing industry, and also provides theoretical guidance for the development of key technologies in the LED industry.

Abstract:On the basis of the survey research on lifetime evaluation considerations in international and national standards for LED products,current lifetime researching status is analyzed,and the initial experiment research is performed.According to the analysis and experiment results,there would be some problems to apply IES TM21 and border function method to evaluate the lifetime of LED lighting products.Our research shows that accelerated experimental conditions would be a reasonable way with high feasibility to test and evaluate the lifetime of the overall LED lighting products,and the cycle of lifetime assessment could be shorten significantly.

An Integrated Approach for Eco-Design and Its Application in LED Lighting Product Development

Abstract:Lighting products are essential for our modern life nowadays, but they also produce high negative impacts on the environment. Although there are tools and methods available for reducing the environmental impact of lighting products, it is a challenging task to integrate them throughout the product development process. To overcome the challenge, this research developed an approach to integrate tools/methods relevant for the eco-design through product development process to reduce the environmental impact of lighting products. Six types of methods, such module design, and 30 tools, such as lifecycle assessment software packages, are considered in the integrated approach. The product specification with eco-constrains is established for implementation at each design stage to ensure the product eco-features. The approach was applied in the development of an LED table lamp which was then assessed in comparison with a benchmark LED lamp regarding environmental lifecycle impact and lighting performance. The comparative assessment results indicate that the LED lamp developed with this approach is much better than the benchmark lamp.

Abstract:As a new_fashioned solid state lighting source,LED has many unique advantages such as nearly no pollution of the product and in the production process;resistance to vibration;easily dimmering from 0 to 100%;operating under safe extra low voltage;continuously operating under the condition of switch_off;having a fixed direction of the light output etc.In recent years,LED's obvious improvement of luminous efficacy and photometric characteristic let it be applied for commercial purpose.But for the influence of our country's plan_economics industry arrangement and for the lack of the popularization of LED professional knowledge and comprehensive knowledge of lighting equipments in the professional personnel,LED is not appropriately applied in practical design and application according to its characteristics and there appear many unreasonable and unqualified application products.This passage analyzes the problems occurring in LED's application in the luminaries for road and street lighting and also put forward some ideas and examples for solving the problems,as reference to professional colleagues.

Abstract:With the rapid development of modern automobile industry, the request for energy saving and pollutant reduction and security in automobile is much bigger, so the energy conservation and security of automobile lighting systems has become hot spot in this research field. As the fourth generation light sources for cars, LED has much more advantageous characteristics than other traditional light source. Therefore, the feasibility and advanced nature of LED lighting engineering in automobile is analyzed and the typical driving circuits are introduced, emphasizing the present application of LED and AFS to the automotive headlamps. A list of problems and solutions, which automotive LED illumination technology is facing, are pointed out, prospecting the development of automotive LED illumination technology in future.

Abstract:To date, many studies have been carried out to develop new approaches and methods to eco-design products. However, these have not been implemented and adopted by industry as much as they should. A better understanding of real-world industrial eco-design and development processes, and the eco-design tools applied during these, could inform the development of more effective and applicable eco-design methods and tools, for generic as well as for specific product categories (e.g., LED lighting products). This paper addresses this issue by describing and examining a real-world process followed to design and develop a LED lighting product by a lighting manufacturer, via case study research. The case study involved direct participatory observation to gather the data and provided new insights about the stages of the design and development process, as well as the tools applied, which were examined and discussed to inform the improvement of existing methods and tools, or the development of better new methods and tools.
