Abstract:In this paper we study the classification of the f-minimal hypersurface immersed in the manifold M-n x R, where (M-n, g) is an Einstein manifold with positive Ricci curvature. Abstract:In this paper we study the stability of harmonic maps on Finsler manifolds by an extrinsic average variational method in the calculus of variations. Some nonexistence results of nonconstant stable harmonic maps on compact Finsler manifolds are obtained, and the homotopy classes of maps on Finsler manifolds are discussed.

Abstract:By using the interior curvature estimate and Gromov's compactness theorem, we prove that a stable complete minimal hypersurface in R n +1 with finite total scalar curvature must be a hyperplane. Abstract:By simplifying the first and the second variation formulas of the energy functional and generalizing the Weitzenbock formula, we study the stability and the rigidity of harmonic maps between Finsler manifolds. It is proved that any nondegenerate harmonic map from a compact Einstein Riemannian manifold with nonnegative scalar curvature to a Berwald manifold with nonpositive flag curvature is totally geodesic and there is no nondegenerate stable harmonic map from a Riemannian unit sphere S-n (n > 2) to any Finsler manifold.

Abstract:We identify spaces of half-translation surfaces, equivalently complex curves with quadratic differential, with spaces of stability structures on Fukaya-type categories of punctured surfaces. This is achieved by new methods involving the complete classification of objects in these categories, which are defined in an elementary way. We also introduce a number of tools to deal with surfaces of infinite area, where structures similar to those in cluster algebra appear.

Abstract:We explore various notions of stability for surfaces embedded and immersed in spacetimes and initial data sets. The interest in such surfaces lies in their potential to go beyond the variational techniques which often underlie the study of minimal and CMC surfaces. We prove two versions of Christodoulou–Yau estimate for $${\mathbf {H}}$$ -stable surfaces, a Cohn-Vossen type inequality for non-compact stable marginally outer trapped surface (MOTS), and a global theorem on the topology of $${\mathbf {H}}$$ -stable surfaces. Moreover, we give a definition of capillary stability for MOTS with boundary. This notion of stability leads to an area upper bound inequality and a local splitting theorem for free boundary stable MOTS. Finally, we establish an index estimate and a diameter estimate for free boundary MOTS. These are straightforward generalizations of Chen–Fraser–Pang and Carlotto–Franz results for free boundary minimal surfaces, respectively.

Abstract:We show that the combination of nonnegative 2-intermediate Ricci Curvature and strict positivity of scalar curvature forces rigidity of two-sided free boundary stable minimal hypersurface in a 4-manifold with bounded geometry and weakly convex boundary. This extends the method of Chodosh-Li-Stryker to free boundary minimal hypersurfaces in ambient manifolds with boundary.

Abstract:The stabilisation height of a fibre surface in the 3-sphere is the minimal number of Hopf plumbing operations needed to attain a stable fibre surface from the initial surface. We show that families of fibre surfaces related by iterated Stallings twists have unbounded stabilisation height.

Abstract:We consider stable minimal surfaces of genus 1 in Euclidean space and in Riemannian manifolds. Under the condition of covering stability (all finite covers are stable) we show that a genus 1 finite total curvature minimal surface in $\mathbb R^n$ lies in an even dimensional affine subspace and is holomorphic for some constant orthogonal complex structure. For stable minimal tori in Riemannian manifolds we give an explicit bound on the systole in terms of a positive lower bound on the isotropic curvature. As an application we estimate the systole of noncyclic abelian subgroups of the fundamental group of PIC manifolds. This gives a new proof of the result of [5] that the fundamental cannot contain a noncyclic free abelian subgroup. The proofs apply the structure theory of holomorphic vector bundles over genus 1 Riemann surfaces developed by M. Atiyah [2].

Abstract:In this article we develop a new approach to the problem of the stability of locally conformally Kähler structures (l.c.k structures) under small deformations of complex structures and deformations of flat line bundles. We show that under the certain cohomological condition the stability of l.c.k structures does hold. We apply our approach to Hopf manifolds and its generalizations to obtain the stability of l.c.k structures which do not have potential in general. We give an explicit description of the cohomological obstructions of the stability of l.c.k structures on Inoue surfaces with $b_2=0$.

Abstract:Let  be an isometric immersion between Riemannian manifolds and  be the unit normal bundle of f. We discuss two natural Riemannian metrics on the total space  and necessary and sufficient conditions on f for the projection map  to be a harmonic morphism. We show that the projection map of the unit normal bundle of a minimal surface in a Riemannian manifold is a harmonic morphism with totally geodesic fibres.

Abstract:We show that surfaces such that the natural projections of the unit normal bundles are harmonic morphisms are composed of minimal points and totally umbilical points. As its application, we find a harmonic map from the torus to the complex quadric in CP3 such that the projection map of the associated sphere bundle constructed by Gudmundsson is not a harmonic morphism. This contrasts sharply with the situation for holomorphic maps. We also establish sufficient conditions for reducing the codimension of an isometric immersion with conformal second fundamental form.
Homological Stability for Spaces of Subsurfaces with Tangential Structure

Abstract:Given a manifold with boundary, one can consider the space of subsurfaces of this manifold meeting the boundary in a prescribed fashion. It is known that these spaces of subsurfaces satisfy homological stability if the manifold has at least dimension five and is simply-connected. We introduce a notion of tangential structure for subsurfaces and give a general criterion for when the space of subsurfaces with tangential structure satisfies homological stability provided that the manifold is simply-connected and has dimension $n\geq 5$. Examples of tangential structures such that the spaces of subsurface with that tangential structure satisfy homological stability are framings or spin structures of their tangent bundle, or $k$-frames of the normal bundle provided that $k\leq n-2$. Furthermore we introduce spaces of pointedly embedded subsurfaces and construct stabilization maps, as well as prove homological stability for these. This is used to prove homological stability for spaces of symplectic subsurfaces.

Abstract:Let $f:N\rightarrow (M,g)$ be an oriented (or spin), complete, stable, minimal, immersed hypersurface. In this paper we establish various vanishing theorems for the space of $L^2$-harmonic forms and spinors (in the spin case) under suitable positive curvature assumptions on the ambient manifold. Our results in the setting of forms extend to higher dimensions and more general ambient Riemannian manifolds previous vanishing theorems due to Tanno \cite{Tanno} and Zhu \cite{Zhu}. In the setting of spin manifolds our results allow to conclude, for instance, that any oriented, complete, stable, minimal, immersed hypersurface of $\mathbb{R}^m$ or $\mathbb{S}^m$ carries no non-trivial $L^2$-harmonic spinors. Finally, analogous results are proved for strongly stable constant mean curvature hypersurfaces.

Abstract:We prove a finite-dimensional moment map property for certain canonical relatively Kähler metrics on holomorphic fibrations, called optimal symplectic connections. We then relate the existence of zeroes of this moment map to the stability of the fibration, where the stability property we consider is a version of K-stability that takes into account the fibration structure, first introduced by Dervan--Sektnan. In particular, we prove that a stable deformation of a fibration admitting an optimal symplectic connection still admits an optimal symplectic connection, through a new approach using the finite-dimensional moment map properties and the moment map flow. We include an appendix with a proof of a result considered by Székelyhidi that a K-polystable deformation of a constant scalar curvature Kähler manifold still admits a constant scalar curvature metric, using the same technique.
