Self-reflection and Self-understanding in View of Neo-noology

Abstract:Neo-noology was coined by Liu Wenying in his book Psychic System and New Interpretation of Dreams published in 1998. After reviewing theories such as dreams, primitive thinking, temporal-spatial evo-lution and consciousness, Liu made creative contribution to the interpretation of the main psychic concepts, the formation, structure, and operation of psychic activities, and some important psycho-phenomenon in phil-osophical history. At the same time, this book has also systematically analyzed dreams from the neo-noologi-cal perspective, thus achieving dialogues with Freud’s psychoanalysis and enabling the school of“neo-Sino-logical interpretation of dreams”to become more established. Liu’s theoretical achievements help the under-standing of core Chinese philosophies such as self-reflection and self-understanding and essential religious concepts like intuition and enlightenment.
